One thing you guys did miss or misunderstand, Death Battle didn't combine all the different versions of Superman.
DC took it upon themselves to do so. In the newest storyline called "Infinite Frontiers," all past reboots, Pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths, Post, Rebirth, New 52, all got smashed together.
It's now officially canon and fair to use practically every single Superman feat he's ever had. DC officially did the job for Death Battle. in fact, they say in the beginning that they did that more for Goku.
Nope, this is something Death Battle and many others misinterpreted from the Death Metal storyline. As Superman exists right now in Dawn Of DC, he is not a composite of every mainline version of the character. He's still technically the Rebirth version of Superman. Which is the merging of Post Crisis Superman and New 52 Superman.
After Wonder Woman defeated the Darkest Knight, she had a conversation with the Hands. She asks the Hands about the fate of her Multiverse. The Hands replies by saying that all histories and stories would be restored. What people misinterpreted was the Hands referring to the main DC universe (Earth-0), but in actuality it was referring to the Multiverse. Implying that all history and stories would be restored throughout the Multiverse, not the universe.
Now what we all consider as 'Pre-Crisis' is mainly the Silver Age. The Silver Age universe for a very long time was listed as Earth-1 in the DC Multiverse. However, after the events of Doomsday Clock, when Dr Manhattan reset the Multiverse again, the Silver Age was changed to being listed as Earth-1985. As Dr Manhattan explains that 'Earth-1 becomes Earth-1985. A world unexplored, even today'. So the proof is there from both Doomsday Clock and Dark Nights Death Metal that current day Superman is not a composite of every mainline version of Superman. And as described by Dr Manhattan in Doomsday Clock is that the more there's a change in the Metaverse, the Multiverse grows, to persevere a new era for Superman. And now after the events of Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths, the Multiverse is restored to being an infinite Multiverse again. Meaning that there is now an infinite number of eras, for an infinite number of different variants of Superman. It's not just Superman though, but every other DC character as well.

@@ibraahimdureng7482 They said they put the 'main' Superman, but it wasn't. They either didn't read the comics in full context, or they're bias. And it wasn't just the continuity that they messed up either, it was Superman's World Forger feat as well that they took out of context. While every Superman fanboy loves to bring up this feat, the context is that Superman only got that powerful was because Batman teleported all those suns for Superman to fly through and get stronger. Also, sense they were in the 6th Dimension, those suns Superman was absorbing were way more powerful than any other sun that Superman is used to from his universe (including a blue sun). So that moment should be considered as both an Assisted Feat, and a Temporary Power Amp. It's not something Superman could regularly do. Lastly, he did not physically destroy a Multiverse. He severed the connection for the World Forger to create the new Multiverse, by destroying the anvil before World Forger could connect his staff to it.
Earth-1 in the N52 is where Rebirth Superman comes from. That is not the same as the pre-crisis Superman unless youre saying pre-crisis history IS attached to Rebirth supes. @@callmestorm23
What everyone is forgetting is that Superman has access to ALL his crazy pre-crisis and silver age powers.
This means he could one shot Goku from the start by using his super speed and super cooking to make a super delicious meal and then super invite Goku and his family over and have a super nice time and become super good friends.

He did not destroy the multiverse, it was the world forger not being able to strike his hammer against the anvil that destroyed the multiverse since it was unstable. The world forger doesn't really have too many durability feats. We have no durability feats for the guy. Other than the fact that he got killed when Perpetua threw a planet at him. Superman dosent cap at crater with that feat. Also was Hella amped for that punch which didn't ko (knock out) the forger. But merely knocked down the forger with a black eye.

@@type-pro3907no, the multiverse was complete. Striking the anvil transfers the current multiverse with the new one. That was literally said in the same issue. There is literally zero (I repeat, ZERO) evidence that the multiverse was unstable.
And the World Forger is literally the equivalent to Anti-Monitor in power, and was said to be stronger in the Sixth Dimension since that's where the Monitor's true forms resides. Mxyzptlk describe Alpheus's power as above his own.
And that punch did knock him out. He was literally shown waking up from the impact and having a black eye.

God Goku form and multiplies the powerscaling X50 in SS blue (50 universes++ = multiversal), kaioken x20 = (70 universes++ = high multiversal)

I love this battle though, Goku never wants to stop climbing the mountain, and Superman IS the damn mountain ascending into the heavens, the philosophy clash is so perfect. "I can't beat you, but I'll never stop trying." Great Death Battle.

Superman's beyond being a character... He's a concept.... He does not need to be "consistent", he just needs to be applicable to every situation.

Easily my fav db ever, plus it made me cry from happiness since it showed Supes and goku as friends more so then toxic opponents like in the second one, plus it showed all other versions of Superman fighting other versions of goku which kind of celebrated both characters which was awesome, like the easter egg of Ultraman fighting goku black, cosmic armor Superman fighting zamasu and etc were awesome, animation and all was awesome as well, 10/10 db imo.

Goku has plenty of hax as well and has surpassed characters whom had far more hax than even he does. So no matter how you slice it, that’s not true. It can go either way long as you using the strongest version of Superman that is actually Supermans power of course and not a weaker 1936 original version of supes or the animated versions of supes etc…

I’ve watched this fight probably 7 times.. Whoever choreographed this fight did one of the best jobs I’ve seen. That fight was amazing.
It is in my opinion, the definitive Death Battle. This is the episode you show to friends who want to start the series so they understand the format. This is THE death battle.

Somewhere there was a peaceful version of Goku who was just having dinner with Gohan. Them out of nowhere he got knocked the blank out for seemingly no reason at all. Lol
Goku only wants to face Superman when he's at his *best* & taking *all* of the lore from both characters puts *both* of them at their best. This means that, in Goku's eyes, Superman can't "cheat" because he wants everything that Superman has, no limits. In turn, Goku has found the ultimate sparring partner...What better fight can Goku (a man who strives to overcome all of his limitations) have except another man who has no limits?
Superman has lived most of his life while under self-imposed limits, for the same reasons that he gave his "World of Cardboard" speech to Darkseid (UA-cam /watch?v=Cl_5UwS57X8 ). Then he pointed out that he was going to exercise a rare opportunity to "cut loose" & show Darkseid how powerful he really is. Take note that Darkseid (literally a god born from the universe itself) didn't last very long. But it's this very thing that Goku *wants* from Superman, his best with no holding back. Heck, even during this video Goku *tells* Superman that he's holding back & to give it his all with no holding back. But then, at the end, Goku says "Finally" because Supes *IS* going to give it everything.
For his own part, Superman already knows what Goku wants. He already knows that regardless of what happens, even the entirety of existence can be wished back & indeed used that method to restore the destroyed Earth at the beginning of the second DB video. Since there are absolutely no permanent or lasting consequences to the fight, Superman really can "cut loose" & fight without limits. And even enjoy it as much as Goku loves a good scrap. And as a side note, when Superman told Goku that he nearly had him there, remember that Supes is the ultimate good guy; *He doesn't lie.*
The best way to watch this battle is for viewers to set aside their own egos & biased fandoms, just sit back to enjoy the fight...With both operating at their best & putting everything they got into it, the result is nothing less than a legendary epic. It is only fiction anyway, so sit back & enjoy the *entertainment* for what it is.

During this fight Supes is barely touching his powers. He only sun dipped for a few seconds too... Superman just has better feats than Goku. I mean the guy was able to carry a book with infinite pages. LOL.
They didn’t pull from any else worlds or non canon material, that was done for Goku. They pulled from all of Superman’s mainline canon material. No cheating was done, Superman is more powerful than Goku by an astronomical margin. He didn’t beat Goku because of a solar flare, he beat him by being more powerful. On paper, Superman is stronger.

SUperman currently is outerversal way past the base of goku even if you stack all the power ups blue and TUI can give it will never be enopgh. superman from new52 - now has been consistantly going up just like goku and even has all creation resistance and AP they stopped at his world forger fea as that alone was more then all of DB it was so much it would wipe the whole DB multiverse 4 times over. or if you go with the finte measurements DB gave you could fit all 12 Dragon ball unniverses into one DC universe and superman destroyed all 52 of them in 1 hit the fight is and will never be close untill the cosmollagy of dragon ball is increasesed massivly. And yes current superman has what is called the matrix of superman whitin him making him all superman version rolled into 1 and all feats. SO there is no more of this which version question as he is all of them. Which is why I see them doing a composit of Goku who is what you were talking about they added in xeno and heros and even CC. and it was not evenopgh the highest feat done was stated in a note that it did not meet the scope of supermans worldforger feat and he has even higher feats then that after.

The one thing I think Death Battle may have misinterpreted (or at least, that I interpreted differently), is that Superman didn't shatter the World Forger's entire new multiverse; he just shattered the forge he was using to build the new multiverse.
I mean, 1) shattering a device that can be used to build a multiverse is already good enough, and 2) Supes has other multiversal feats to back it up, like re-creating the entire multiverse by fighting Jaxon and scaling above the Flashes (who threatened the multiverse just by having a race).

No, it was very explicitly stated to be the multiverse, by World Forger himself. And it wasn't even the forge in the scene, it was the hammer and anvil. The hammer and anvil were only there to switch the current multiverse with the new one.
Once the new one was completed and ready to be transferred, all World Forger had to do was swing the hammer into the anvil, and they would switch places, but Superman punched Forger so hard that the multiverse shattered, which is what briefly made Forger lose hope and say Superman doomed them all.

This is Bull.... Me personally how can you have a hero where he can do 99.9 of anything. What makes a hero is over coming. Miss me with that being what he needs to be. Who the hell can fight that....and he all over the place.....a rocket will knock him out the sky but his powers show it cant do that. How Doomsday killed him, Lobo is trash then, etc. Superman is a trash hero now....he was in my top 5 but not in the past decade. There should not be no JLA....cause he can do it all. If any one dies or wins its superman fault. Smh Heros today are trash now because people forget the formula to a good story......Rise......fall....and Rise of a hero. Thats what makes a hero. Super Man just look at you and win.
Basically gotta read the comics. The types of beings he has to fight are even more absurd. We are talking about beings that casually create multiverses or travel time and can instant delete you just by thinking, or beings that exist on a 6th dimensional plane. That is partly why they need superman to be so powerful, just like they need goku to be so powerful to take on beings that literally fuse with space and time itself zamasu, or Moro who casually eats planets, etc. It's just DC is on a whole other scale.
Also, a lot of stories involve the weaker versions of superman. Stories with prime usually only happen when a reboot or super huge event is happening. Just offering perspective

@@rasenganmaster101 Superman has been boring since his incarnation. There isn’t any “automatic input”, I’ve always hated Superman’s lame ass. DC as a whole is awful, but Superman is the culmination of every problem I have with them.
Goku started in the East and has become a Global Icon strictly through 1 source of media. Superman is either equal to Goku or below him in today’s climate… that’s very telling. A comic character from the West that was created almost a CENTURY ago, is losing in popularity to an Anime character.
Superman is a plot device more than any other character I’ve seen so far other than some live-action characters. He sucks. It isn’t about being a fanboy, Goku isn’t even in my top 10 Dragon Ball characters. One character is entertaining to watch/read, one isn’t.
@@gadgettv4472 Uh… yeah? Everything takes inspiration from something. That doesn’t mean that whatever the hell the first one was is better than anything that came after it. I find almost EVERY other comic book character more likable, more entertaining, or better-written than Superman.
I wouldn't say boring that's kinda cruel... He's more of an "adult" typa character, like when I was a teen I used to prefer Batman because of the badassness, the edginess and the fact that he can box mfs with no superpowers, best supervillains with just high IQ / tactics so on and so forth....
But when I grew up of that phase I found myself more attracted to Superman's ideal how he's this all powerful being tryna live and balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.. The fact that he's so op yet so humble, nice, humane, type to always smile whole saving a kid from a falling bridge while getting manhandled by Doomsday etc Superman is the image of a real man like no matter how high and mighty you are you still need to be as down to earth as possible. He's the image of MASCULINE role model.
Superman and Goku to me are the picture perfect of a peak MAN. Strength (physical and mental) defiance, confidence but also modesty, wholesomeness, humanity.
This is why I was never a fan of superman. DB aside he has way too many powers with little to no weakness. Coming from another comic artist it's lazy storytelling in my opinion that he has every power advantage. 🤷🏾♂️
It is until you realize that A) it makes more sense in context given that his villains are all on this insane level of power, and B) he as a character is moreso meant to represent a stranger in a strangle land trying to be the best hero he can be rather than the best fighter. Both these aspects are lost to a degree in Death Battle due to just the basic premise of the show.
@vick7868 all of superman bad guys aren't like that. And even so he is still too strong of a character for no reason. When you have a character that can do anything it becomes a boring character. Him being a stranger on earth has nothing to do with how absurd his power scaling is.
@kingace34 yeah, and his power scaling doesn't have anything to do with his character. A show like Death Battle is always gonna make a character with close to limitless power seem more boring despite how interesting they might be in terms of actual writing (the fact that a lot of writers suck at writing Superman notwithstanding) just die to the fact that power scaling is the primary lens you're looking through in this context.
Plus, in the Infinite Frontier version... most of his villains are that powerful. You saw them talk about the World Forger.
A simple application of his powers is very rarely the solition to the problems he faces. They haven't been writing stories about him just hitting things hard enough for 90 years.

Most variations of Superman are out-of-comic stuff like cartoons and live action movies and stuff, completely nerfed for the audience's sake. Goku has always been able to beat most version of Superman because most versions weren't comics.
The comic versions have always been the talking point, and most comic versions of Superman are on par with each other.
