I am speechless 😶, your journey to be a doctor, it can be the number one autobiography of the year, your family must be very proud of you, well done!👏👏 Kenji👍
I am a final year biochemistry student. Applied for medicine everywhere else in the country, got rejected everywhere that I applied, only one university waitlisted me, and I can tell you this I have no freaking clue what I'd be doing next year. I was a bit late when it came to my passion and love for medicine, personally for me the show called the night shift is where everything else began for me and I still go back to watching it when I feel I need a little bit of motivation. But I can't lie, I am feeling the heat, I think more so than I ever did my whole life.
Hey! Coming from someone who took 2 unintentional "gap years" after undergrad before finally being accepted into medicine, I know exactly what you're going through and how tough it is. Keep your head up and keep fighting for your dreams, because the harder they are to achieve, the better it feels when you finally achieve them :)
@@betinabdf What kept you motivated? I am writing my last paper on Friday and I don't feel as motivated as I was at the beginning of the year, I think the rejection letters I received kind of stalled that in, why did you not give up in those 2 years, how did you keep your focus onto your mission?
@@geekgrill4996 What helped me come to terms with rejection was to really put into perspective that it wasn’t a reflection of myself or how deserving I was of a place in medical school. It just meant that, for that particular application cycle, there were a few people who did better than me, and that motivated me to work harder. The process is very cut-throat and can really make you lose hope at times, but the fact that you were rejected doesn’t make you any less worthy, and like I said earlier, will just make it so much more meaningful when you do get that offer. Every failure is a learning opportunity and going through this will prepare you to be a better doctor. Hope this helps somewhat!
I am currently doing a Biomedical Science degree hoping to eventually get into Medicine.Your videos are so motivational and have inspired me. Congratulations on getting so far, not too much longer now . Thank you for the amazing videos.
Wow, this is sooo inspiring Kenji ✨ I can never hold my tears watching this video. A BIG THANK from South Africa where the teachers tell us what we can't become. I will always remember this, God Bless you Kenji ❤️
Hi Dr Kenji, I know this video was uploaded a while back but I had the exact same experience as you, I was on the cusp of an A and fell just short, and shattered my dream of doing MBBS in the UK and becoming a doctor. I weighed my options, either i do Biomed and try for medicine after, which incurs 3 years of extra debt, do Engineering which i got into but be very unhappy, or go abroad and study medicine elsewhere, save 3 years of my life, and save a LOT of money. So I went with option C, and im currently in my 4th year. I will be giving the PLAB exam after i graduate and complete a year of housejob, and hopefully transfer into FY2 (Inshallah).
DR Kenjiiii blesss you 🥺🥺🥺😭 I hate when medical schools become big headed like there are some of us that are so motivated and want to actually achieve a dream and help others and then there are some people that just do medicine because there parents tell them or they do it for the money. It’s Birmingham’s loss I would’ve rubbed my medical school offer in there face!! Your so inspiring, I’m on the same road as you pray for me. Also do you have a video about how you did well in your dissertation☺️☺️
Your video is really inspiring Kenyi👏👏 !!!, thanks for sharing with us. I have a similar story, I'm not the most talented graduate from my University. Furthermore, my university is not well known in Perú, but I'm achieving incredible goals thanks to my effort. Hugs from Lima Perú!!!❤❤❤
I love how transparent this video is. Ngl I may have shed a few tears because it’s quite relatable and inspirational. Well done you!! Quick question, how did you fund the 5 year degree? I don’t think they give tuition fees if you study an undergrad degree for the second time.
I'm so gutted I missed the video. But I'm ready to watch now!! Sup Kenji❤👊🏽. I remember watching your video about a year ago that helped me to find my passion for medicine too. 🥺
Question - why don’t students do nursing instead when rejected from medicine. Is it not basically the same course but with less detail. For example cannula insertion etc
Nursing is a great alternative to medicine but they are fundamentally different. Medics are trained to be able to diagnose and manage and nurses are more to do with caring for the patient.
Why didn't you apply for a four year postgraduate medicine since you get 2.1, because for postgraduate after getting your UCAT and others you need a 2.1 in your undergraduate. Best Regards, Siaka Gassama.

What were your final A levels? How come you didn't just wait a year then apply after getting your A levels?

I did apply for past grad but I only got an offer on the undergrad!
Chemistry is hard for me but I want to become a doctor. What should I do?😭
Work on your weaknesses as much as you can and get the minimum grades that you need. Once you’re in medical school, there’s not much chemistry!
🤗🤗🤗
Did you apply to only undergraduate Medicine courses or a mixture of graduate and undergraduate Medicine courses?
I did 1 postgrad and 3 undergrad!
@@DoctorKenji which postgrad course did you apply to, if you don't mind me asking please?
What work experience did you do during the summer please?
I was at a hospital for 2 weeks shadowing in neurosurgery and liver medicine

645 I think!
