This is ONE movie that wasn't dominated or overpowered by CGI. The story was fantastic. I'm hoping for a sequel. The story behind " Rise " could easily be used to apply to the original Planet of the Apes as well as the remake.
Fun fact for you. Andy Serkis not only plays the role of Caeser in Rise of the planet of the apes but also plays King Kong in the 2005 film King Kong. So if they did make this movie Andy should win a Nobel for most CGI appearences in one movie or something
Just saw this last night...i don't think i've ever TRULY been speechless at the end of a film until then. Absolutely mind blowing. Incredibly superb in every way. :*)
Andy Serkis is the greatest actor that is alive today and it is unfair how most people don't recognize him as one. He should have received an Oscar for his role as King Kong!!!
I don't usually watch modern movies, and I'm a huge fan of the original Apes movies, but when I saw that Andy Serkis was going to play Caesar, I couldn't help but go see it. And I wasn't disappointed. In the slightest. It's actually my favourite movie of the year, next to Harry Potter pt2.
Andy Serkis is suitable for such roles, one of the best actors in the world but you can´t see him in movie because he plays mostly a creature. He deseves an Oscar for his actor skills!
I loved this movie!!! Very well done. The special effects were beyond amazing. I couldn't really tell if these were actual primates or actors in a costume. And the story was wonderful!
Definitely better than the 'Mark Wahlberg' version. I like this movie! I felt sorry for Caesar. But, I'm glad he finally found himself. Love the special effects :D
Awwh Andy Serkis man! An actor of THE highest calibre. Absolutely stunning as caesar. He is a phenominon and is overdue an oscar. Why is it the truely great ones never get the full recognition they deserve, and awful ones get all the glory? Ahh well. Maybe this year, Andy? (and is it weird that i find caesar kind of sexy?? its probably just serkis shining through ;) )
@TheLordYankee I just got back from seeing it bud, and I gotta tell you. It was 100x better than I was expecting. I went, strictly out of curiosity, not expecting a whole lot and left the theater blown away. You cannot appreciate how amazing of a job Andy Serkis did until you see it on the big screen. You'll love it. Oh, and btw! Caesar > Gollum Caesar FTW.
I'll bet that 80% of people go to see this based on all of the action in the film. Here's a dealbreaker for you.. The film is so much more than that. You have to sit through an hour and a half of awesome character development and drama before you get to the action. Sorry folks but you have to sit through a good film.
Look up the etymology (original meaning) of Ceaser, and you'll find one of the meanings is "HAIRY" :) Other interpretation is the process of Ceaserian birth but in those times, the mother had to be dead. Although, Julius Ceaser was born with thick hair, ended up bald. It's kind of symbolic with regards to this movie.
They should make a movie where they find out King Kong survives and he meets Caesar and Caesar gives him the ALZ12 or whatever and they take over the East Coast or something...
@yourwifewashere I think the element of surprise would benefit them greatly. Think about it. They're expecting to fight dumb animals and all the sudden they're speaking, riding horses, carrying out advanced strategies, etc.
Obviously there are changes but is this movie genrerally faithful to the original concept from the books & 70's movies? This is when Zera (& Cornellius) gave birth to Milo in our time & then named (or proclaimed) himself Ceaser. He eventually became the messianic Law-Giver worshipped in the very first movie. So the ape domination of mankind was a result of a paradox caused by time travel.

Andy Serkis is a genius :)

All I can say that this movie can not be put into words of how amazing it was. It unexplainable!
Andy Serkis is the greatest actor that is alive today and it is unfair how most people don't recognize him as one. He should have received an Oscar for his role as King Kong!!!
Andy Serkis really deserve an Oscar for his role of Caesar, brilliant movie

Andy serkis is a much better actor than most we get to see onscreen!
I loved this movie!!! Very well done. The special effects were beyond amazing. I couldn't really tell if these were actual primates or actors in a costume. And the story was wonderful!
One of the most extraordinary movies I've ever seen. I totally forgot i was in a theater. Andy Serkis is Oscar materiel for sure.
That man is so talented. He deserves an Oscar for playing ceaser. This movie was great. It was maybe my favorite movie this year.

I watched the movie today. It was COMPLETELY EPIC!!! You have to see it. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Definitely better than the 'Mark Wahlberg' version. I like this movie! I felt sorry for Caesar. But, I'm glad he finally found himself. Love the special effects :D
This movie was absolutely beautiful. The visuals, the movements, the emotions. Though I recommend seeing it in theaters for the full effect.
This movie was incredible !!!! Andy Serkis is phenomenal !!!

Seeing Caesar cry after Will leaves him still makes me tear up
i saw this movie 3 times, i love it so much
Amazing performance by Serkis, like usually ;)
It was as remarkable as the previous ones!!!
Probably won an Oscar for "Most Epic Film"
when Caesar was riding the horse, I was blown away by how far he's come XD
The Movie was superb. I LOVED IT.
I am very, very happy that it is not 3D!
Awwh Andy Serkis man! An actor of THE highest calibre. Absolutely stunning as caesar. He is a phenominon and is overdue an oscar. Why is it the truely great ones never get the full recognition they deserve, and awful ones get all the glory?

They are pretty lucky to have Tom in the cast. More Felton, more fangirls wanting to watch ;) Tom is super hawwt.
andy serkis deserves an oscar for playing caesar
Andy Serkis...is a BEAST!!!
Can't wait for the sequel.
This movie was so sad, but it sure did send out a message out there. Too bad no one listens to it or can at least see it
Ceasar needs an Oscar :D
Andy Serkis is AMAZING. OMG.
Actually this looks incredible.
One of the best movies i have ever seen
andy serkins did a fantastic job
What is needed now is a CGI system that lets an actor ring James Franco to life.
HA!! At 1:16 When James franco's like "are you a pet? No your not", Caesers expression was like "dammit!!!"
It was amazing. A grand slam.
Awesome movie! Saw it twice already.
andy serkis is amazing
Andy Serkis (One who played Cesar) is Amazing! Did you know he also play 'Golem/Smeagle' from the lord of the rings! Incredible actor!
cgi of this film is by far the best till now

Come on Academy. Just nominate Andy Serkis. Your ratings will go up.
THIS LOOKS ORGASMIC, gonna watch it tomorrow

Caesar FTW.
@bardistass Man seriously needs to get recognition for this.......

AWESOME.
great movie !!
Awesome movie..
when ceaser went NO! everbody in the theatre started cheering
SOOOO EPIC!!!!
I heard Rodman has a name in this version of the classic film of anthropology and history.
Buck was a real warrior..
well even if u thought it sucked, u have to admit andy serkis did a great job right?
the term guerrilla(gorrilla) warfare gets a whole new term when watching this movie!
Caesar was not a test subject. His mother, named Bright Eyes was a test subject, and somehow genetically passed it on to Caeser.
amazing technology but my eye still prefers the old techniques!
this looks awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I might sound crazy but.. Ceasar is so cute !! lmaoo XD
I LOVE this movie so much!!!!!!
Look up the etymology (original meaning) of Ceaser, and you'll find one of the meanings is "HAIRY" :) Other interpretation is the process of Ceaserian birth but in those times, the mother had to be dead. Would be great if the dvd had the film showing serkis without the effects as an extra..maybe not the whole film, but a good size chunk of it.
really good movie i like it
First Smeagol, now this. I fucking love you Andy
the best part is when ceasar says NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
movie of the year
AWESOME
This was far better than director Tim Burton version.
멋져요짱☺😀😊😃😄😀😊😄☺😀
Andy Serkis is the the new Lon Chaney.
@Big12189 Most epic part in the movie. Some people are saying that the theater when silent, when Caeser spoke for the 1st time.
When I first saw this I thought it was a gritty reboot of curious george.
They should make a movie where they find out King Kong survives and he meets Caesar and Caesar gives him the ALZ12 or whatever and they take over the East Coast or something...
@The007Rockstar I'm the noob? Look who's the one saying "1st comment, AND 1st view."
@yourwifewashere

I hated that part where they had to leave Ceasar there! Made me want to cry and made me angry
