***** Damn I've been trying to find the Moto X but the stores I went to didn't have it in stock, and many of the employees haven't heard of it. I just decided to use my invite for the OnePlus One, which is also awesome. To answer your question, it depends on your preference. Do you want a good sized phone which is just awesome. Or do you want a bigger phone. That is the main difference between the two. Sure Nexus 6 might have slightly better specs, but nothing you would notice when using it. I also heard that the Nexus 6 is a bit short on battery (not too bad though).
***** i have one and its decent,it made me more productive in life amazingly.the design is awesome and battery life is great.camera could use a few updates tho but all in all decent price for the punch
OMG I just realized something! Unbox therapy has a total of 12 characters. My cousin has a friend that is 12. That friend recently got a cat. The cat was named Bob. Bob has 3 characters. 3-1 is 2. Two is a number like thirty five. Thirty five has two I's. Add one more I to that and that's three. Illuminati has 3 i's too. Illuminati confirmed.
I bought my moto x a month after this video was posted. Till this day I'm still impressed with my moto. Original battery and original screen. This is one tough phone, I am sad to part with it after all this time. Software updates are done and I'm stuck at 6.0 and in need of an upgrade. This phone will forever be one of the greats in my opinion.
I liked the style of this video, nothing wrong with changing it up a bit. I also was digging the fact that you used the thing for a while like a regular person before dropping the review.
I have a Moto X 2nd Gen Pure Edition, best software I've ever used (I've owned 2 Nexus 5s, a Note 3, an S5, a OnePlus One, and a G3). It's basically a Nexus plus actually good features (Moto Display, Touchless Control). I must admit, the phone is a little weird to hold because of the really tapered sides. The best part is the backing - I have bamboo. And the best part about that is putting your phone on wood surfaces and watching people's minds be blown.
How does the Moto X compare to the OnePlus One? I am really confused which phone to buy. I am concerned about the back of the OnePlus One which seems to get easily scratched over time according to MKBHD. Also, I think the OPO may be a little on the big side for me. Although the camera and the battery of the OPO are much better, I am leaning towards the Moto X solely for the software experience. What do you think? Which phone should I go for?
kvikram19 If you're worried about the Sandstone Black back getting messed up over time, hit up dbrand and get a skin from them. (psstt dbrand if you're reading this, hook this guy up.) I only had mine for maybe a month so I'm not sure about the wear, although I did watch ***** 's video. Personally, if the OnePlus One is too big for you, I'd go for a Nexus 5. But if you only want me to choose between the OPO and the X, it depends on if you root/ROM and that kind of stuff. The OPO has much more dev support and mods available while the Moto X, even while mine is a Pure (developer) Edition, there's no ROMs or kernels out.
Finally a video like this, these is a review, where you find the issues from a normal user, not the specifications or an unboxing, finally a real review
Take your time with the rest if the reviews. The problem you found is a great example, and with the longer review time you warned us of some issues we might find. Great job!
Maybe the problem was created when you did the bend test on the phone. Wear and tear... that can't be the cause it. For the buttons. so far I haven't seen or hear people complaining about that issue that has the phone.
I just wanted to say that I love the new type of reviews, like shown in this video. It kinda gives you a more open feel, it gives you the impression of having a conversation with you, and i find that really great! Keep doing great videos man! :D
He really didn't say much in this review except his volume buttons are starting to stick, which isn't end of the world as I'm sure Motorola would replace under warranty
Kevin Rieber fired up! Bobby Hobbs Yes. Mainly because the size works best for me since I'm always on the go. My volume rocker never got stuck before. I use it daily since I listen music on my commutes. I think a exchange will do him good.
I GREATLY appreciate this type of review where you live with the phone for 3 months and can thus speak with greatly comprehension and authority rather than spew specs and impressions gleaned from a week of use upon release date. thank you!
avngsv lol that'll have to be a lot of stuff... ever wondered why offices in buildings are never hardwood? because talking on the phone is painful with all the echo. and offices are packed with crap.
I really appreciate this style of review, keep up the great work and love the new digs you guys are rocking! I ordered my Moto X today, looking forward to it!
I'm going to call bs on that one. The IMT-2000 standard states that the maximum speed of 3G is 2MBit/s for non-moving/low velocity receivers (phones, hotspots, etc.) and 384KBit/s for high velocity receivers. Are you sure you are not on 3.5G or 4G?
Really did enjoy this commentary of actual long term ownership rather than a week or two use. I plan on buying a phone and using it for a couple years so thanks, keep it up!
I like this type of reviews because everyone can read the specs on the box but not how the device will behave have a period of usage, and i have watched most of your videos and i like to comment on way you changed presenting your videos, so good job
I dig this. Please make more videos similar to this one because right now we are at a point where the specifications don't matter much/matter very less. With every hardware upgrade we don't see a leaps and bounds increase in performance so it's good to see a video from you that focuses on the core experience!
Love the new approach Lew! Finally someone changed the game with reviewing and I'm not surprised it was u. Things to work on are lighting and camera steady. Completely positive criticism, I hope other UA-camrs follow your lead.
Great review Lew! I do like this style of review better because overall its refreshing to see something so natural in the monotonous sea of reviews lately.
Excellent review. Keep up the good work. I especially like the perspective of you using the phone for awhile before giving a review. The latter is the only way to truly know the pros and cons about a phone.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video and hope/look forward to you make similar ones in the future. Enjoyed how you got up and moved around a bit. It conveyed more of a conversation type atmosphere and feel. Bravo !
I'm with you, Lew. I really like the Moto style. I hope they get that button issue taken care of. Hopefully with the next iteration the camera won't have to have perfect lighting to take great shots.
Put a small drop of gun oil (preferably hoppes) on bottom of the volume rocker at the crack so, then lean the phone so it travels up the rocker to treat the issue. Oil is non conductive so its safe & unlike WD40 & most other oils, gun oil is designed to soak into the pores of metal instead of creating a film over the top. This means it should fix your problem indefinitely.
I got the Pure Edition version of the Moto X a month ago and I'm very happy with this device. You have a defective unit because the volume buttons don't stay stuck on my unit. The camera is a hit and miss and you have to play with it and get the right light and focus to get good shoots. I've been getting great battery life because I'm on WiFi most of the time so I get over 15 hours with 4-6 hours of screen on time, but on LTE no where near that. This has been my favorite android experience and the touch less controls features and active notifications are without a doubt amazing.
love the review style, it fits your name "therapy" so it really looks like its a conversation instead of an actual review. not that reviews are boring.
Dig the new videograpghy, wish you did a little more on the old way you did your videos. I definitely got the 'this is a user review' feel though with how you set up the video in the new fashion. Liked the video man, keep on keepin' on!
Good review, and I like the style as well! However, you didn't touch on a few essential points: - Touchless control - Moto Assist - The UI - Performance (real-world) I felt like those needed to be addressed more directly, especially Moto Assist/Touchless control as it is one of the MAJOR selling points of this product (to me that is at least, but I am sure to many more people). Also the price point. The phone is priced fairly competitively in the US at $500 for the 16GB model. Anyhow, that's what I think.
This is the inverse of what unboxing is and I actually like it more, but if you want your cameraman to walk around and follow you, I suggest to get a Steadicam as the camera movement was annoying.
Great review as always. I notice you have a long scratch in your hardwood floor. If you rub a piece of a walnut into it, it will almost "disappear". Keep up the great vids.
The iPhone 6 and the Moto X in terms of height are only separated by 0.2mm Screen size does not equal phone size. It's how much screen real estate is used and how much bezel is put onto the phone that really matters.
Bryce Earl the moto x when i had it doesnt show any notifications when im not using it like the s5 does when i changed phones so glad i changed over the crap phone Motorola made
Nicholas Hahn I have the 2013 moto x and absolutely love it. Especially with my moto360. I am only upgrading for a bigger screen. Everything else about the phone I love.
I own the Droid Turbo since release date (late November 2014) and it is a beast, but a week later picked up a moto x 2nd generation and my droid turbo is just a back up. its like the bigger brother of the moto x 2nd gen. the moto x all around feels so high quality. like a lot of love was put into this phone.
Im planning on getting this phone in the next couple of weeks, so thanks for the video. Like u said, we want that android UI and upgrades without waiting long. Thanks Eddie
Have you noticed about some scratches on the flash ring? I bought the Moto X two weeks ago and I already have problems with that part of the phone. It's a minor problem, the camera crystal is still on perfect conditions. Great phone!
Hey Lew great vid! I've been using the Moto X (2014) since launch day as well and have to agree with everything you said. Best thing about it by far is the software. Fast, fluid, and quick updates.
Hey Lewis, as a heads up your echo is really loud. If you are addressing this issue sweet! if not, you may want to look into that. but great video thanks! :)
As a fellow Moto X owner I think you should have mentioned whether or not you enjoy the wrist-activated camera. Also, I think you should've mentioned battery life. Will you put out another review when you update to Lollipop?
Nice video and review Unbox Therapy . Moto X 2014 has always been my most favorite device after the Nexus 5. The design it's carried along with the stock android experience just making it much much more great, at least for me.
Not only did I like the 3 month later review, I like the new office space. It was pretty cool going from 1 room to the next and getting a closer look at the device. The video seemed more personal, and relaxed. If I could give 2 thumbs up I would.
I'm also a Moto X 2014 user and before of that I used to be a Nexus user. Personally I agree with most things you've said and gladly the issues you have gotten with the volume button has not happened to me. BUT I have to say that while I love Moto X software (Active Display) mixed with Stock Android I really REALLY miss the led. Dunno if you feel the same way thing as well. Anyway, let me know!
I like this style better. I hate when reviewers take 5 mins to talk about specs, if I wanted specs I could go to gsmarena and check it instead of having to listen to reviewers talk about the same thing over and over again. Props to UnboxTherapy for not even mentioning specs!
So what was the battery life like? I don't think you really elaborated on that, you started to but never really got into it. Great review, looking into upgrading my S3 and I think this will be a great replacement. Thanks
Hey Lou great video do you think it would be worth it jumping from the Nexus 5 to the Moto X I'm currently on AT&T but I have doubts about battery life on the Moto X considering they have the same battery. it's a downside for me and 5.2 is about the max I would go on screen size
Motorola should have stuck with this design and then kept upgrading. Fingerprint Sensor Better screen Better chip Etc. Etc. Every year better and better without a full redesign of the exterior. Even on 12/21/17, the X2 is still a great phone, as far as design and feel in hand.
I enjoyed the review, but I wish you did more of the old style vids. I know you have the new office space but I actually didn't like the way it was formatted. The camera was also somewhat shaky at times and made me a bit uncomfortable. Just my feedback though =]
Check it!
are you gonna get the blackberry passport?
Nexus 6 Bend test?
Should I get the Moto X or LG G3? I don't use camera very often.
***** Damn I've been trying to find the Moto X but the stores I went to didn't have it in stock, and many of the employees haven't heard of it. I just decided to use my invite for the OnePlus One, which is also awesome.

Wow Unbox Therapy does a review! Don't see it that often. You should do more!
OMG I just realized something!
Unbox therapy has a total of 12 characters.

That friend recently got a cat.
The cat was named Bob.
Bob has 3 characters. 3-1 is 2.

Illuminati confirmed.

Shit. That means that gta gets zombies now. Gta zombies confirmed. Zombies. confirmed!!!!!!!!!!!! (Gets shot in the face) (Dead).
Zombies.
Omg u are right! Im actualy killing zombie bus drivers
Illuminati has 10 letters.
Confirmed has 9 letters.

I kinda like his old style of videos better, its a little bit more professional. Still awesome videos tho!
***** You can see all the lighting equipment, though.
Is that his house?
He seems more relaxed
Diesel Lozano For me he seems boasting for it.. :\
I liked the style of this video, nothing wrong with changing it up a bit. I also was digging the fact that you used the thing for a while like a regular person before dropping the review.
I'm really sick of my iPhone 5s. I really want to upgrade to an Android decvice like this one.
do it. Android>iOS
*Applause*
DO IT YOU WONT REGRET IT if you do here are some phones motox nexus 6 LG g3 note 4
Thanks :/
I was making a point that apple sucks
The way you recorded this is honestly so fresh!! Props to you man

Have you had any issues with the buttons yourself?
Will Newman Nope, haven't heard of any issues about them either
Can you offer any feedback on the ascending ringtone issue that some people on the forums have been addressing? It seems quite an annoyance for some.
I loved this style of video, Lew. I liked how you just sat down and talked to your viewers. I hope to see you do more like this in the future!
I just saw my internet get beaten by a phone. Imma go cry in the corner now
Yep, faster than my service, connected to the router via cable...
(I'm aware its in megabits)
Goddamn, THAT beat your internet?
Tim Yup, it's sad, I know...
BeGaming | JRkk7heGamer Still cruising on a 50mb/s down and 5mb/s up :)
I'm on 30mb/s :(
Finally a video like this, these is a review, where you find the issues from a normal user, not the specifications or an unboxing, finally a real review
Anybody else think it would be cool to have a fingerprint scanner where the Motorola dimple is?
Not really
yea that's a neat idea
I've had that idea since I got my moto g in march! Why Motorola its so obvious, whyyyy?
YES, I wasn't the only one with that idea!
Yes that would be so awesome. As long as its simple and easy like ios. Maybe they'll add that in the near future
Take your time with the rest if the reviews. The problem you found is a great example, and with the longer review time you warned us of some issues we might find.

Maybe the problem was created when you did the bend test on the phone. Wear and tear... that can't be the cause it. For the buttons. so far I haven't seen or hear people complaining about that issue that has the phone.
He did the bend test on an older model of the moto-x so that can't be it.
***** In one of the many bend test he did comparison he use a Moto X second generation. If I'm not mistaken. Plus he mentioned something on the video.
I just wanted to say that I love the new type of reviews, like shown in this video. It kinda gives you a more open feel, it gives you the impression of having a conversation with you, and i find that really great! Keep doing great videos man! :D
Yes. I'm still loving this phone. Well thought out. The experience is what is important and wins every time.
Just ordered his big brother the N6!
Do you prefer the X over the N6? Also did the volume button stick on your phone like the reviewer mentioned? Ramon McNally

I bet that echo makes you regret not getting a place with carpet
Huh why would he care I mean echo smecho
Cbass D. horrible shitty sound for a tech guy doesn't mesh well.
I think when he fills up the place with stuff the echo will be reduced.
avngsv lol that'll have to be a lot of stuff... ever wondered why offices in buildings are never hardwood? because talking on the phone is painful with all the echo. and offices are packed with crap.
You said that and I was like "I don't even hear any echo, this guy is crazy." Then I couldn't stop hearing echo. -__-'
AWESOME VIDEO!CONGRATS ON ONE MILLION ITS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING!!!!!!
This vid looks therapeutic. It's like going to see a shrink (for unboxings).
I really appreciate this style of review, keep up the great work and love the new digs you guys are rocking!
I ordered my Moto X today, looking forward to it!
15 mbps on LTE? I get 20 mbps on 3G; I guess they're right when they say Australia has the fastest mobile internet.
S
Sweden has the fastes internet i think
I'm going to call bs on that one. The IMT-2000 standard states that the maximum speed of 3G is 2MBit/s for non-moving/low velocity receivers (phones, hotspots, etc.) and 384KBit/s for high velocity receivers. Are you sure you are not on 3.5G or 4G?
Yeah here in Sweden I get around 42 mbps
Here in iceland i get 20 mps on 3g and 100+ mps on 4g.
Really did enjoy this commentary of actual long term ownership rather than a week or two use. I plan on buying a phone and using it for a couple years so thanks, keep it up!
Why has he wasted $5000 on a Mac.... He could of spent that money and make a dual boot Hackinsosh
But then it wouldn't be blessed by Steve Jobs.
Because it works for what he needs?
Why do you care?
Apple - Underpowered Specs - Charges $5000 for a dual core CPU and 4GB of RAM -> Apple Scammers
pommy192 Not to mention that they wanted to charge me around £100 for 4GB of RAM. Standard laptop RAM.
I like this type of reviews because everyone can read the specs on the box but not how the device will behave have a period of usage, and i have watched most of your videos and i like to comment on way you changed presenting your videos, so good job

This video comes at just the right time. My dad is thinking about getting the Moto X 2nd gen and this is the perfect video for him. Thanks Lew!
I really loved how you did the transistions, I think a lot of the other reviewers can learn to do that in their videos too
Nice format and video.
Absolute best way to review a device! Definitely enjoyed it and hope more reviews like this are to come.
You really need to do something about the echo in the new office. Sound absorbing material is a must.
Good to see you in the new space! Much better for your channel as well.
You've made good use of it in the video as well, cheers!
Bravo !
Love the new studio and presentation.
Keep up!
What you think about the JBL headphones?
Lew, you should try to reduce echo in the new space. Great video by the way, I've wanted to get the Football leather version.
I'm with you, Lew. I really like the Moto style. I hope they get that button issue taken care of. Hopefully with the next iteration the camera won't have to have perfect lighting to take great shots.
Very casual review. I like it. You seem more natural than being behind the camera all the time.
However, you didn't touch on a few essential points:

I felt like those needed to be addressed more directly, especially Moto Assist/Touchless control as it is one of the MAJOR selling points of this product (to me that is at least, but I am sure to many more people).
Also the price point. The phone is priced fairly competitively in the US at $500 for the 16GB model.
Anyhow, that's what I think.
What about the durabilty of the screen ? i heard many a times that the screen shatters when dropped hardly from any height.
This is the inverse of what unboxing is and I actually like it more, but if you want your cameraman to walk around and follow you, I suggest to get a Steadicam as the camera movement was annoying.
Great format for a review especially since it encompasses more than the spec battle that is the mobile phone market these days.
Great review as always. I notice you have a long scratch in your hardwood floor. If you rub a piece of a walnut into it, it will almost "disappear". Keep up the great vids.
The iPhone 6 and the Moto X in terms of height are only separated by 0.2mm
Screen size does not equal phone size.
It's how much screen real estate is used and how much bezel is put onto the phone that really matters.
two questions.
1. where did you get that gorgeous eames lounge chair?
2. nexus 5 camera vs moto x camera?
+David Yang which phone is better over all in your opinion
This was a real review. Most reviews are actually first impressions.
Is it possible to get sprint with the pure version? Cause it seems like you can't and then you said you can use it with any carrier....
Nice and honest review man. Like it. Maybe more of these?
I was planning on buying one because of the Cyber Monday sale. Perfect timing for this review! Thanks!
Have fun buying crap
Nicholas Hahn OOOOOOOHHHHH Shots fired! Pew Pew
***** if I were to buy a non-stock phone, I think it would be the g3. I just love stock Android so much, & I do not want to root my phone to get it
Bryce Earl the moto x when i had it doesnt show any notifications when im not using it like the s5 does when i changed phones so glad i changed over the crap phone Motorola made
Nicholas Hahn I have the 2013 moto x and absolutely love it. Especially with my moto360. I am only upgrading for a bigger screen. Everything else about the phone I love.

Have you noticed about some scratches on the flash ring? I bought the Moto X two weeks ago and I already have problems with that part of the phone. It's a minor problem, the camera crystal is still on perfect conditions. Great phone!
Great video. This is a great style of videos because it applies better to most of the audience. Keep up the great work.
This reminds me of PocketNow's "After the Buzz" series, and I love it. Keep up the great content!
Hey Lew great vid! I've been using the Moto X (2014) since launch day as well and have to agree with everything you said. Best thing about it by far is the software. Fast, fluid, and quick updates.
Oh and the simplicity of this video :) great job man .
Hey Lewis, as a heads up your echo is really loud. If you are addressing this issue sweet! if not, you may want to look into that. but great video thanks! :)
New video format nice , glad your trying new things
I enjoyed the relaxed attitude of this video. Some great shots to!
As a fellow Moto X owner I think you should have mentioned whether or not you enjoy the wrist-activated camera. Also, I think you should've mentioned battery life. Will you put out another review when you update to Lollipop?
Thanks, I do like your reviews and the idea of a 3 month review!
Hey. Didn't you say you were going to give away an iPhone 6 when you were first unboxing them?
Nice video and review Unbox Therapy . Moto X 2014 has always been my most favorite device after the Nexus 5. The design it's carried along with the stock android experience just making it much much more great, at least for me.
Ah.....hari tu kata minat htc.....
Apa ni wey....
Not only did I like the 3 month later review, I like the new office space. It was pretty cool going from 1 room to the next and getting a closer look at the device. The video seemed more personal, and relaxed. If I could give 2 thumbs up I would.
As cool as the walking and talking part was you should consider a steady cam since there was a lot of shaking in that part of the video.
where is the initial moto x review ? can't find it
loving the "user" type of review! I think its the best way to see the positives and negatives of a phone! Great video!
Love this honest style and no specs! Just go ahead with more like this in the future!
ive had the new Moto X for about 3 months as well and I haven't had any of the sticky button issues. love the phone though
I like the style but I wish there were scenes of you sing the camera outside and walking around with it. I hope to see more videos like this
I like this style better. I hate when reviewers take 5 mins to talk about specs, if I wanted specs I could go to gsmarena and check it instead of having to listen to reviewers talk about the same thing over and over again.
Props to UnboxTherapy for not even mentioning specs!
Really like the new talk and walk style!
Great review, I would of liked to know how much difference the 16 gb vs 32 gb option affects usage of any.
Love your reviews. Which android wear app are you using as a proximity unlock for the moto x when near the moto 360?
So what was the battery life like? I don't think you really elaborated on that, you started to but never really got into it. Great review, looking into upgrading my S3 and I think this will be a great replacement. Thanks
Hey Lou!
What do you film your reviews with? It seems to have a very sharp beautiful picture with very minimal moire' so I assume it's not a Canon lol
Lewis Hilsenteger how did you get their service in Canada?
Is there any screen burning on it ????
Unbox Therapy Did you get new hardwood flooring?
Hey Lou great video do you think it would be worth it jumping from the Nexus 5 to the Moto X I'm currently on AT&T but I have doubts about battery life on the Moto X considering they have the same battery. it's a downside for me and 5.2 is about the max I would go on screen size
So does it have dual speakers or..? I'm always confused with the Moto speakers
This was a very unique sort of review. I like it, kept it up!
Motorola should have stuck with this design and then kept upgrading.
Fingerprint Sensor
Better screen
Better chip
Etc. Etc. Every year better and better without a full redesign of the exterior.
Even on 12/21/17, the X2 is still a great phone, as far as design and feel in hand.
what chair is that? looks very nice
Unbox Therapy Great Video, looking forward for your note 4 review. Thanks
I enjoyed the review, but I wish you did more of the old style vids. I know you have the new office space but I actually didn't like the way it was formatted. The camera was also somewhat shaky at times and made me a bit uncomfortable. Just my feedback though =]
Damnit Lou, Gotta tease us with your new set and upcoming project XD
Nice video man I'm really thinking of buying one of these for my mom along with the smart watch
nice job -- may i suggest getting some arcade or pinball machines in there to fill up the space :)
Is there an updated review for this phone?? I'm interested in knowing if the volume buttons has worsened or still deal-able
