I don't care. I've been watching cycling since Fignon and Hineault dominated the Tour. I've understood over the years that you take it for what it is. If I really cared, I would have turned it off along time ago. But I'm hooked. I may be a cynic, but it would be hypocritical of me to to get outraged over drugs at this point 😄.
Something changed. 40-50% of the peloton used to be made up of riders with past doping violations until around the bio passport was introduced, today it isn't even 0.5%.
Bettiol won the Italian national championship today. Rodrigo Contreras won the Vuelta a Colombia. The best possible tributes for the best possible dealer. Poor Valgren, who could only finish fourth in Denmark. He was beaten by a Van Rysel, of course. One who only wins in Herning, the birthplace of the canal's best friend. What a joy. By the way, I put Vingegaard on the cover photo, but I could have put Pogacar perfectly well (by Uran). Unfortunately, there are no good recent photos of him and the anchovy in his new renaissance jersey deserves the thumbnail.

I believe a number of teams have systematically used young and low level riders as mules. It's less risky than having team staff doing it - as the latter are more likely to be targeted or stopped by authorities. I suspect Piccolo was moving a lot more product than the team needed and someone tipped off the Italian authorities.

You can enjoy the racing "among equals" and still despise the doping and hypocrisy in the sport. I love the racing and don't care who wins. What I hate is the fanboy crap, every time some know-nothing says "my guy is clean, it's the other guys doping" or "prove it", when somebody suggests a result is suspicious. PADUN is the perfect example, the greatest racer in the world for 2 days, riding for one of the dirtiest teams on cycling - then never heard from again. Yet fanboys of TBV were furious when the issue of PEDs was raised. The racers are earning a living, the fanboys are the criminals. (Yes you, all of you, who live East of the Soca)

Here's a little sidenote. My father in law bought one of Jakob Fuglsang's TDF bikes online. I think it was 2017 or 2018. He wanted to buy one of Cav's bikes but it was the wrong size frame so he bought Fuglsangs bike instead 🤘🏻🏴

While I wish for cycling to be a squeaky clean sport, I cannot deny that the doped tours were absolutely epic and exciting to watch, a true spectacle, not to mention the police action on the side. The races today are not only boring me to tears. I would rather watch grass grow than sit for a month watching riders sitting on other riders wheels, until the 400m sprint finish. I sometimes play a Pantani or Fignon tour just to get some motivation to ride.

Believe it or not, the use of Ozempic, the new (ish) wonder weight loss and appetite suppression drug, has now been implicated in the pro peloton. Even though the Ozempic is not on the UCI's banned list, they do have a no needle policy, unless used with a specific TUE. Talk about leaving no stone unturned!
How to ultimately cancel all doping in cycling? Easy: let them consume whatever substances they want without any regulation. You talk about rider's health? Someone's gonna die on Mont Ventoux? Hell, they do it already, so what's the point for gatekeeping something every rider wants to have? If riders don't care about their health, who am I to deny doping if they all inclined to dope anyway under restrictions? Let 'em have the juice! I'd watch that. I'd even pay to watch that.

You would thing in a sport that is rife with cheating, that being convicted of doping would result in a lifetime ban from the sport. But no, instead, Rijs, Vino all is well. Only LA has made it in to the UCI black book.
We shouldn't take the UCI's or any pro team's anti-doping decrees seriously until they excommunicate all of the ex-pros/staff caught for doping/facilitating doping from their staff, affiliation, and certification lists.
