Thank you so much for the overwhelming comments! Signal chain below. Gibson Les Paul, straight into the Marshall, into the OX Box cab sim (4x12 Greenbacks with 57s, raw, no effects), reverb is added post recording. I'll play some Van Halen on this thing very soon, I will also do a full comparison with all my other Plexis. Our album should come out towards the end of March, I should be able to announce the final release date early in the next year.
A Les Paul plugged into a Marshall and into the “ right hand “ always will sound magical You my friend have that toucha and feel Super playing as always
You just can't replace the musicality of the OG Marshall. It's an amp that will teach you how to play guitar. The rich overtones, note-clarity, and fast-transient-sonic-pressure is pure Man-Tone. And it takes very little to make it chug.
@ i’ve owned a few point to point 4-input Marshalls from the early ‘70s. They have some special mojo, but I imagine the newer one is not that far off. If the schematic is the same, and it is not a circuit board, and a similar output transformer, etc, i bet it gets it done just fine.
Well the circuit is correct for a late 60s superlead and its a seriously well built amp, marshall have however let the quality slip on the transformers they use recently which will affect the sound and reliability of the amp. I doubt those transformers will last the 50 years of the old amps but if you had some mercury magnetics put in there you'd have a pretty unbeatable amp.
You just are the Best I've ever Seen on the web! Your playing is just amazing Bro! You're just a virtuoso Rock Player ! A killer Riffs and Soli player! I dig it! Great sound and more important, great super playing!& Feeling! Man.what Mojo you've got! You're a Killer! You've burried all the guitarists I've ever seen and for info, I'm 64 years old! You got it all ! Congrats Bro!
Jacob, you're just the living and breathing example of 'Tone is in the fingers'. You've got that spark in your playing that we're all looking for. Could listen to you playing all day. Great video as usual man. Cheers from Australia 😎🎸🤘
Hey Tom, thank you very much for your kind words. I’ve seen some of your videos and you’re a great player! My drummer and co-songwriter Josh Gallagher is from Perth, Australia. Cheers!
Thats awesome! Nothing really roars like a 1959slp. I have 1968 spec that was built by metropolous in 2010. Unfathomably loud, but thats part of the fun with these amps. Definitely can't wait to see some van halen videos with it.
Congratulations on your new super lead. Nothing like the whallop of a good 100-watt. Nice job with the Les Paul. Don't be afraid to experiment with different 12ax7's in the first v1 position. That goes for all of your 4 input amps. Please get back to us with some VH on your new amp!
Just watched the LaReserve “Highway Star” and “Paradise City” videos for about the thousandth time. Y’all were TOO good to be a bar band. People watched you like they were at a literal concert…they weren’t going go dance much because they would have missed your awesome musicianship. So tight…so great!
What a great amp! Your awesome playing really showcases what these amps are all about. Great job capturing the magic! Unfortunately some people demo these and other similar amps and they can leave the wrong impression but clearly these are aggressive, articulate, tone monsters! Congrats!
That sounds so good dude. Love the fact you just roll the volume back on your guitar to clean it up and no messing around with multiple settings one sound , one tone from the amp, hands and great playing.
I've never directly compared a HW to an original 1959 but I've heard them on their own (like here) and I think Marshall did a great job of capturing the sound of them. Nothing quite like a Les Paul and a Superlead. Classic combination on so many of our favorite records!
It sounds incredible with Ox Box wich has an 1176 compressor, delay and reverb and amazing cabinets! You can hear the compression and its creamy and full of attack!
Holy cow man you're a phenomenal guitarist One of the sickest out right now actually dude when you first started 7-10 years ago whenever them videos were coming up I was blown away man I think we're 17 at the time Best rendition of Eddie Van Halen I've ever heard in my life dude when's this album dropping and when you starting to tour the states I want my tickets now that marshall is wicked but you don't need it you crush every song you've ever played
Other than ED himself, Jacob still brings me to tears when i listen and watch him play. Thats a fact, JACK. Jacob could bring me to tears noodeling Marry Had A Little Lamb !!!!!!!
Jacob proves why Marshall Amps have the greatest sound and tone earth people will ever hear. Jacob is also proof positive that true tone mastery comes from the actual fingers and his incredible feel and unmatched articulation. There are so many bad demos of these amps you can watch that will make you think these amps may not actually be the King and Queen of all amps on planet earth. That's only because many of these player demos are executed by less than qualified guitar players who aren't able to accsess there true capabilities. We all know that Ed proved, without a doubt , that they are and always have been, the true and original KINGS of all amps for sound, tone, clarity, and masters of, fine articulation. Jacob also has the ability to make any guitar or amp and head configuration he chooses to play sound just as pristine as this current master class demo of one of Marshalls most iconic inventions in music history. Jacob should be every single amp and guitar companys official demo professional, for every musical product ever created. That's not an exaggeration, Its just a 100% fact people. No one, and i mean, no one ,does it better than this brother hear !!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Holidays to you and yours Jacob. You are a guitar Messiah and you are keeping the musical legacy of rocks greatest guitarists alive. The younger generations need to learn the history of rock and roll and the legends who created that music. I humbly thank you for reminding the world what a true musician sounds like. Rock on brother!
I used to have the 1987x and it was so awesome but too loud. This was back in the nineties before power attenuation was readily available hahaha. Great playing as always and congrats on the new amp. Rock on!!!
new to the channel. You have put alot of work in dude and it shows!! I have been playing almost 40yrs and cannot come close to the tone you have in your hands. BTW kiddies, thats a great sounding amp, IN THE RIGHT HANDS!!!
Sounds fantastic. I used the 50w version for a number of years, can't remember what year it was exactly, somewhere between '69 and '71. What an amp that was. There's a couple of clips of me playing live with it on my channel (the Prime Suspect videos), if anyone is interested in having a listen, from way back in 1990! Wish I still had it, but it would never leave the house these days.
This guy has perfect feel. This tone is unforgiving as hell. Killer attack. .you really need to play perfect or it blasts mistakes. But if you are good it blasts greatness
You may like a particular modern Amp better, but the Plexi is still the benchmark from which to judge rock amps. Stellar playing by Jacob, Per usual. He got "it", and he gets the great players.
My buddy has a Ground Zero modded 1959HW, and it absolutely slays! It has a lot in common with Steve Vai's Jose Plexi, as seen in the Pete Thorn video.
For me still the "holy grail" of amp tones, or a hot-rodded one. The "secret weapon" of Marshalls for me is the dynamical reaction to attack combined with these unique harmonics, which you hardly get out of comparable other amps. Simply rocks, especially with a Les Paul. The only thing, you need off-stage, is a really good load box, then you can even fully crank it up at home. Plus, you have an additional "heater" for your room in winter with seven hot working tubes. ;-) An alternative for me is the - in my opinion - really good and similar sounding 0.4W Killer Ant. Had modded it a little and then rebuilt again, as the basic sound (slightly modded Plexi preamp with fixed internal TMB control (all at 10), authentic cathode follower and a 12AX7 triode SE power amp really comes close, as long as you do not fully turn it up. Volume 6-8 sounds great with a 212 or 412 cab IR behind, at 9-10 it can become a little too diffuse and indirect. For input boosting (or lowering, to get Low Input sounds) and sound shaping I use a 10-band eq in front. Another one is of course the JMP-1 preamp with a good all tube power amp behind. My favorites have become KT77 tubes, EL34's sound nice, no doubt, but also EL84's, but different and also nice for more JTMish sounds 6V6 tubes. Had the SV-20, not bad, but also did not completely offer this unique "magic" in the tone for me, so I sold it again. On the other hand, the Marshall HW amps are not so extremely expensive, if compared with the prices of competitors, who usually promise, to have everything "improved", but if I hear the result, they rather have made worse a lot of things in my opinion. But ok, tastes are different. Engl and Diezel do a nice job for hotter, but Plexi-voiced sounds, I also like Magnatone and Metropoulos amps (apart from the prices), but never really became warm with Friedmans or Suhr Plexis. On the other hand, in comparison a real Marshall is much cheaper in Europe too and it looks and sounds like a Marshall, so what more do I then need? A completely different alternative: A Kaluna or Kaluna II, even better stacked and you do not even need an amp behind and can adjust everything between Tweed/JTM45 cleans up to Engl/Diezel/JVM high-gain, Plexi tones of course too, because of the extremely versatile +/+20dB eq-section. A good cab IR behind and you are there, plus, even stacked these pedals almost work noiseless. But also a nice improvement in front of any Marshall for both better clean or hotter sounds, as (active) Volume also works below unity gain, so it allows taming an amp sound too without any sound quality loss.) Another improvement of course is an SD-1 in front. (If you find one, I recommend a Hidalgo modded one. A little less gain, but a more natural sound (like a KC - SD-1 hybrid, but still with the typical SD-1 character) plus 3 switchable voicings (Warm (no bass-cut, Bright (original bass-cut) and Rock (in between, a little more gain and moderate bass-cut). Some other essential thing are speakers and cabinets, but I better do not start talking about this to avoid, that this become an endless strory. Only one more "exotic" solution: My 112 Sidewinder 150W cabinet (Celestion's for me even better sounding 1990's version of an EVM-12L.) Looks really strange, if you place a 1959 head on top of a 50 x 50 x 30 cm cabinet, at least, unless you hear the first tones... My momentary favorites, apart from 412 G12M's, G12H's are 212 or 412 Celestion 100's, Lynchbacks, Hempbacks and WGS Black & Blue. All rock nicely, but sound very different. But this is also one advantage of the two input channels, 4 inputs concept of a Plexi, you can adjust the sound perfectly well for (almost) every cabinet/speaker! (Well, maybe Jensens are not the very best choice...) Great playing and sound and of course, great amp! Thank you for sharing!
Interesting too how many great players used these with different tube setups all giving a slightly different sound. EL34s, of course but you also saw KT88s (Jimmy Page) and Jimi Hendrix with 6550s. When I hear Band of Gypsys album I hear Marshall with 6550s. Great playing man!
My brother had an original 60's Marshall 100W Super Lead Plexi, it shook the windows in my Moms house, this particular amp was a raw beast, so bright it hurt. 🤣
I wish I could play like that on my Bugera. 😂. Awesome playing. Would be nice if you could record and all instrumental EP of your original music with that 70’s / 80’s vibe.
Sounds hypnotic.. could listen all day great playing Jacob🤘🏻 what are roughly the settings in the video? Is the amp dimed? Did you use one or both channels?🙏🏻
Hello bro, first of all, you've really made the most of your guitar and amp. My only critique is that it would have been better if you had done a bit more testing on the amp's clean tones. Also, did you use any other pedals apart from the reverb pedal during the test?
Thank you so much for the overwhelming comments! Signal chain below.
Gibson Les Paul, straight into the Marshall, into the OX Box cab sim (4x12 Greenbacks with 57s, raw, no effects), reverb is added post recording.

Our album should come out towards the end of March, I should be able to announce the final release date early in the next year.
Sounds incredible. This should be the official Marshall amplifier promotional video for 2025.
I had the 1959HW back around '07. They came out around '04, I believe. Finally, someone who can do that amp justice on UA-cam!
It only took 20 years!
A Les Paul plugged into a Marshall and into the “ right hand “ always will sound magical
You my friend have that toucha and feel
Super playing as always
he worked his way to this! well done and congrats
Bright, open, and percussive!!! Nobody can do that amp more justice than you brother !!
@@RECTIFIER101 Agreed!

Yes, I’m sure this is very different than the original Plexi.
But look, it’s got the plastic on the front, must be the same. 😂

Whats not to like a Gibson LP and a Marshall 100 semi cranked. Classic take me back to my 70’s high school days. You are on the right road my man.
Thats awesome! Nothing really roars like a 1959slp.

NOS tubes are the best!
Agreed

YES! Got one earlier this year and it's my absolute favorite amp. Great playing Deraps.
I literally love this man. with every fiber of my BEING !!!!!!!
Sick amp but it's 2nd to your killer playing. God I love the feel and vibrato Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to your new album!
What a great amp! Your awesome playing really showcases what these amps are all about. Great job capturing the magic! Unfortunately some people demo these and other similar amps and they can leave the wrong impression but clearly these are aggressive, articulate, tone monsters! Congrats!

I decided to go with a Suhr SL67 Mk2 recently and its the best sounding amp I've ever played.
Great playing and glorious tones. If you play rock, this is the amp you need, period.
I just love your playing through whatever guitar/amp combo. Keep it up.
Dude, your Zeppelin is great.
Dude, this was phenomenal. I had a 50 watt plexi that even with an attenuator was too damn loud. Even so, this was on point. More!
I used to have the 1987x and it was so awesome but too loud. This was back in the nineties before power attenuation was readily available hahaha. Great playing as always and congrats on the new amp. Rock on!!!
There's THAT sound. Nice!
🤩 Glorious, I can’t imagine needing anything else, perfection.
That sounds absolutely killer!!! Doesn't hurt that you could play a broom and make it sound good!!! Great job!!!
The Paul Kosoff tone was spot on. Well done demo of this amazing amp🔥
Great vidéo Jacob once again. Tried the same amp but didn't have the same amount of gain even with evry control dimed. The playing is so great too
new to the channel. You have put alot of work in dude and it shows!! I have been playing almost 40yrs and cannot come close to the tone you have in your hands. BTW kiddies, thats a great sounding amp, IN THE RIGHT HANDS!!!
That amp sounds so good!!! As usual you sound awesome!!! Congrats
This sounds UNBELIEVABLY good. Holy Moly.
Pure perfection! Great playing! I’m fuckin still blown away every time I watch your videos!
Okay - this man can flat out PLAY you guys. Crazy skill level !!!
Great playing there Jacob. Glad you played 'all right now' - its the staple LP>Marshall test and you scored 100%
Yeah; the Marshall 1959HW sounds killer. Excellent find there. That Les Paul sounds killer also!
Your playing really compliments that amp.Sounds amazing
Holy Cow, what a sound and a great player.
Congratulations Jacob! Rock on! 🤘🏼🎸
The ramble on sounded amazing!!!!
Nice! Safe to say the amp was a good purchase. Great playing! Really enjoyed the demo.
Sounds fantastic. I used the 50w version for a number of years, can't remember what year it was exactly, somewhere between '69 and '71. What an amp that was. The Aerosmith was perfect man. Dude that’s the best amp ever made imo. Definitely got a good one.
Sounds absolutely IMMENSE!
sounds amazing - old good school
When you hit that first A chord, all I could think of was "AC/DC - Back in Black". Freakin' Awesome!
damn... man, fine playing and sounds incredible.. i must have one too!
One of my fav tones. I have the small box by Friedman, which comes close, just different. I love this here with the LP. Killer.
Sweet plexi goodness
Congrats on getting your dream amp. Sounds great, looks cool as all hell, too.
Hey congrats Jacob! We need a full EVH rig with that amp for next video - variac- 4x12 Marshall cab🔥 must sound killer🔥🔥
This guy has perfect feel. This tone is unforgiving as hell. Killer attack. .you really need to play perfect or it blasts mistakes. But if you are good it blasts greatness
Wicked! Great playing, love a real Plexi, greatest amp ever made. You can literally cut a whole record with just that amp.
Absulutly amazing sounding when u plug in that stock les paul and play Led Zepplin❤
Amazing playing and tone my guy! Would you ever consider making a video on how you get your VH tone?
You may like a particular modern Amp better, but the Plexi is still the benchmark from which to judge rock amps.
Stellar playing by Jacob, Per usual. He got "it", and he gets the great players.
Sounds great man!
Great job
You should check out the Metroplex 2. Awesome plex, great VH tones, and cleans up so nice.
Definitely want to listen to how it compares to the SV20H. This one is referred as "Jimi Hendrix" signature on Thomann. 🤔
No Words !!! Just magical 🤘
Congrats. I wish I could have one too!

(Well, maybe Jensens are not the very best choice...)
Great playing and sound and of course, great amp!
Thank you for sharing!
Great playing man
I'm building a 68 1987 right now. Amazing amps!!
You should try a lar mar master vol in yours to tame it.if you need low vol
Can confirm this 100%. Happy Holidays bro ;-)
Damn, dude! Amazing tones and playing 👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
That Zep sounds absolutely beautiful.
Enjoyed the hell out this video. Pretty fast fingers ya got there Bud! Cool amp, congratulations.
Wow! You get some serious gain going there, more than other vids people post of the amp, sounds awesome! Did you crank everything a la Eddie?
My brother had an original 60's Marshall 100W Super Lead Plexi, it shook the windows in my Moms house, this particular amp was a raw beast, so bright it hurt. 🤣
🎩 Hat off!! What a flawless performance
Holy ships! That was great!
Nice Chibson !
Killer tone Jacob!
I wish I could play like that on my Bugera. 😂. Awesome playing. Would be nice if you could record and all instrumental EP of your original music with that 70’s / 80’s vibe.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Sounds hypnotic.. could listen all day great playing Jacob🤘🏻 what are roughly the settings in the video? Is the amp dimed? Did you use one or both channels?🙏🏻
I need some van halen through this beast ASAP!!!! Sounds amazing
What a great player! Would love to see the amp settings, any pedals etc?
04:41 Joe bonamassa ''just got paid'' !! Killer sound !! Man you rules !! ♥
Yeah kind of….but Bill F. Gibbons tell ya different.
Hello bro, first of all, you've really made the most of your guitar and amp. My only critique is that it would have been better if you had done a bit more testing on the amp's clean tones. Also, did you use any other pedals apart from the reverb pedal during the test?
If it sounds that good on my phone's shitty speakers it must be ridiculously good in the flesh. Great playing too 👊
Congratulations 🎉
The attack 😮
Bro you got soul for days.
That sounds like rock and roll to me!
I thought "Just Got Paid" was in the key of D with drop D tuning. ? That amp sounds really classic. But with enough gain to sound really gnarly.
Sounds fantastic!
