My cousin helped take care of my sister when she was dying of cancer. Yesterday I surprised him with $3,000 to build his dream computer.
Being a giver, not a taker has so many proven benefits-physical, mental, and emotional-that everyone should make it part of their daily life. The Bible says "There is more happiness in giving than in receiving". Acts 20:35
One day, there was a mighty blizzard outside and our cleaning lady came covered in snow. Since the could not afford a car and nobody could drive her she walked about three hours to my house. When she showed up at the door covered in snow my dad asked her why she came to work and she said that she desperately needed the money. Since my dad was in the market for a new car, he gave her our car for free. He took off the plates and told her to have her brother help her with the paperwork.
"So, I brought my best sweater..." REALLY?!?! Why are you doing this to my poor heart
Does anyone else here like giving presents and joy more than receiving them?
Why don't they ask the baby?
Most times people enjoy giving more than they receive. However, we also need to learn to receive. I was not a great receiver before, but when I learnt that refusing to receive help/gifts/money/meals etc, it means I'm robbing someone of the joy of giving too. A good balance of both helps us to become more empathetic as a person I find, because you now know both sides of the fence.
