Originally I'd have said Android, but I recently started to prefer Joey-Pegasus for adding a number of vital cards that should've been in the TCG for a long time by then.
For me it's Yugi/Kaiba format all the way but Critter format also holds a special place in my heart as a close second.

I remember playing yugioh during this time then stopped playing then started playing again. Good times for my middle school and high school years.

I came into the game with the release of the Joey and Pegasus deck, so this is cool to see. I love this era of the game, and I play with friends every so often.
I remember seeing those get announced in a flyer and was super excited!

My deck was banned 😂 I played before exodia was banned.
I remember going to the yugioh mall tour they had back in 04. I had watched up till the end of battle city and played it too on GB advance.
I later on around 2015-16 started to pick up on it again and the game was getting complicated and fast. I can only imagine now. The last deck I built though was the star wars themed one lol

This sounds an awful lot like my highschool formats, growing up. 👀
Edison and Goat have the best variety of cards and strategies you can use to play the game... I wish we had a way to play those in master duel
LOD Format is an interesting footnote, because it's crazy how Yata was actually not a good card when it was first printed. It was PGD with the printing of Don Zaloog and Spirit Reaper that turned Yata from yet another trash Secret into the hand control menace it became.
That beatdown era was definitely one to remember.
I was around for parts of this, lol
God, I wish we can go back to Duel Monsters Era.

My favorite deck back then, was piercing monster beat down like Saber Beetle and other like like Strong Wing Dragon!
