As a child I idolized that man. He taught me the beauty and poetry of the sea. Johm Denver's song about Cousteau has always given me chills. My deepest gratitude to them both.

This is GREAT! The spirit us now aging flower children started in the 60's (we did NOT all do drugs) is captured well here. We promoted the idea that EARTH is our shared home, so we are ALL responsible for taking care of it. I DO wish that spirit would return. Films like this can help. THANK YOU!

Love this so much and used to really enjoy the trips on Calypso on TV with Jacques Cousteau and his men it was the first thing I saw that showed so much of what we were missing under the water, without all of the stuff we now take for granted. encourages a deep love of the ocean and all it contained then. So much has been damaged and destroyed by humans many fish extinct and reefs destroyed Jacques Cousteau would be devastated along with John Denver who spent time with Jacques on Calypso. I know I am💔😪 Thanks to John Denver who composed this beautiful song that when I sing along with him I can picture the beauty of the ship and the wonderful crew and all that encapsulated. I loved watching Jacques Cousteau when I was a child, I was filled with such wonder at the tings he brought to us. But I fear his beloved Calypso has become a vessel that lives only in memory, she will never return to the sea because she became the victim of an incompetent owner. Even if Francine is actually able to bring her back to the sea someday, it will be too late, the generations have moved on, the young people of today could care less about her. It's time to let beautiful Calypso pass into legend and allow her sail the dreamscapes of those who grew up watching her.

I must apologise for finding this link so late since its release! I grew up as a kid in Australia always waiting for the next TV episode - it was a much watched viewing. My appreciation and education of the ocean etc as I'm sure for many viewers back then was a revelation, inspiring many to pursue a career as marine biologists or simply ardent advocates of marine conservation. One thing I'll never forget is simply hearing him narrate the episode - I knew as a young kid I was up for an hour of amazing wonder.
My childhood hero! (Apart from my Dad), I loved Cousteau and I watched 'The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau' avidly. I also liked John Denver and remember a documentary of John sailing with Jacques on Calypso.

I must apologise for finding this link so late since its release! I grew up as a kid in Australia always waiting for the next TV episode - it was a much watched viewing. My appreciation and education of the ocean etc as I'm sure for many viewers back then was a revelation, inspiring many to pursue a career as marine biologists or simply ardent advocates of marine conservation.
One thing I'll never forget is simply hearing him narrate the episode - I knew as a young kid I was up for an hour of amazing wonder.
This video makes my heart sing - thank you

My childhood hero! (Apart from my Dad), I loved Cousteau and I watched 'The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau' avidly. I also liked John Denver and remember a documentary of John sailing with Jacques on Calypso.
