- Kingsland City Development is one of the country’s model public-private partnerships (PPPs).
The US$1.4 billion Kingsland City, which sits on 583 hectares of land, will have mixed-use facilities such as hotels, a world-class university, conference centre, housing, sports complex, amusement park, vehicle service stations, shopping malls, a golf course, ZAF Academy and messes.
Kingsland City is being developed via a PPP between ZAF on behalf of Government and three developers, namely Datong Construction, Drimtown Investments, and Shangria Investments -for facility concessions ranging from 20 to 28 years.
During the construction phase, over 2,000 jobs will be created.
The project was born from the challenge by President Edgar Lungu for the military to join the country’s economic diversification to bring out the best from the men and women in uniform.

What i love about this development is that when it comes to roads, they seem to have done a very good job. From what i can i see on the video, the roads were professionally done by a competent contractor. How i wish the developers on this side of the stream (Zambezi river) could do the same quality of roads in new neighborhoods. This side, roads are purposely constructed below spec, purposely use sub standard material - because the culture this side allows them to get away with it. Well done Zambia

My observation too. Also the Zambian content creators who try to collabo with foreign colleagues have very limited areas to show. Like everyone wants to take them to livingstone or to malls.

Planning is reasonable though there are few sidewalks. Homes are a bunch of rectangular boxes with very little aesthetics...which makes engineering and construction easier, etc. Hopefully, this is just the beginning and more features will be added and landscaping will be improved. Congratulations.

Thanks for sharing, watching from Kenya. This is a very nice development. However, I thought only Kenyans and Nigerians had that problem of calling every mega project a city even when its clearly not, I see Zambians are also like that.
It is called a City maybe because it will have most of the amenities once completed. It will have a shopping mall, golf course, schools and a university just to mention a few.

Looks better than Borrowdale Brooke, am sure they have clean tape water and electricity. Love it very clean
construction for Borrowdale Brook started in 1996 and in 2018 for kinglands City. I would assume that that 25 year difference would also be reflected by the difference in architecture. Newer and modern housing designs will surely be found in Kinglands and those that inclined to the modern modular kind of designs will surely find that to be more beautifull as opposed to the older designs you find at Borrowdale Brooke, the opposite is true for the those preference is the designs of the 1990's

To answer your question as a Zambian, no we don't have washer dryers. In that I mean, you can buy one yourself but apartments typically don't come with one. And it's not an issue, we are used to it.

@@Glen_Mali Jambo. I would the msonge structures. Msonge is a KiSwahili word for round house w/ a pointed, thatched roof, i.e., essentially your primary Bantu structures. Design motifs, such as the Imigongo art found in Rwanda, could also be incorporated into the wall tapestry. There are many architectural firms across Africa (and certainly in Zambia) which could orchestrate the indigenous styles that I am suggesting.
