Thanks, I’m glad to know my message is not overwhelming. I want people to receive the information and really look for how they can apply it for themselves.
I'm new to trombone playing, I'm 63 and I'm getting ready to retire, I can't afford music lessons, they are way to expensive 70-100 dollars a hour, I use Hall Lennard. It has been really helpful. Your help has been great THANK YOU.
Man, thanks so much for your instructions! I'm a 68 year old man that learned to play trombone in the 1960's, and the Highschool Band in our town, was invited to the Miss America Parade in Atlantic City in 1969. We came in 2nd place out of all the bands there. After Highschool, I stopped playing and haven't played again until last week. It may be nuts, but I'm going to try and pick it up again. It's like I've never played before. Your videos are helping! The hardest thing is getting my lips/mouth conditioned again.
I’m glad the videos have been helpful. The key to getting back into any kind of shape is taking it slow. Short frequent practice sessions are helpful and quite frankly more fun when getting back into it. Too often people are disappointed they can’t play for 30-60 minutes straight when getting back to the instrument. Have fun with it and enjoy the overtones!
I’m just starting to learn trombone and this is a great guide to getting the feeling of the instrument! You have a great approach to playing the trombone 🙏✊
really loving your videos and the concepts you're emphasizing...after 25 years off of playing, i've caught myself in a rush to get back my chops but this has encouraged me to really listen more to my body and to practice that sense of calm. thank you, sir.
It’s my pleasure to share the concepts. Little wins can go a long way to building a strong foundation. Keep moving forward mentally and you’ll be fine.
Thank you. Another great session. As an enthusiastic amateur my problem is I always practice like this in a kind of meditation session. Finishing off with an equally long period of melodies by ear and some improvisation. My sessions usually last 90 minutes. I know I really should have a more disciplined approach but this way is so much fun. I’m Lucky I have a fantastic deserted local subway to practice in with superb acoustics. 😁 😂
90 min is a great amount of time for a practice session! This routine is for the days you don’t have that amount of time. I’m sure if I was in the same acoustics you described, you wouldn’t be able to get the horn off my face either!😂
Bro you are such a great teacher, I have been playing trombone for 3 years and every time I watch your vids I learn something new. Keep up the great work!
Steve showed me that same lip slur exercise in a lesson a couple years ago. I believe he told me that he got it from Dizzy. Great video as always! Looking forward to your patreon happening! CH
What’s up my brother! I just discovered your channel. I’m thinking of buying a trombone and learning to play. I’ve always been fascinated with the instrument and it’s sound. Do you have beginner lesson videos?
Hello, I'm glad you found the channel, welcome to the family! I don't have any beginner lesson videos at the moment but you're not the first person to ask. It's inspiring me to put together a lessons video series for players at different levels. 🤔
The most calmed and relaxed voice in teaching I have ever heard. Love your informative and yet calm approach!

“Black trombone chronicles”
Man, a black trombone with some gold trim accents would look pretty flipping sweet
I think there is a model of trombone with that color scheme.

What is the tune played at the end??
That was something I improvised. I'm glad it sounded like a song.
I would like for you to evaluate a couple of my videos. Can I share them via dropbox?
You can send an email to my website:
thechops-shop.com
I’ll see if I can help you out.
Have you tried the silent brass
Practice mute while headphones?
Many years ago when they first came out I tried the system. I thought the resistance of the mute was a little tricky.
@@TheChopsShop The new one is a lot better. Lighter and less resistance.
@@zemry I'll check it out one day. Thanks for the info!
Классно 👍👍👍🤓
