In fact, I have tried to take lessons from someone in Kazan (the city some 50 clicks away on the other bank of the river), but it was a disappointment. I use to practice with the mindset of I'm not done until I play this passage to my satisfaction consistently. I was a high schooler and it got to the point where my family would ask me if I could please play anything else, lol (especially, if I was playing the same four measures over and over). You are absolutely right about the focus improving everything. I would practice some hard piece for hours and when I would play a scale or something else easy, it would sound better too.

Yes,old friend is just how I feel about my horn. I too have returned to my ole pal after a long time…started at 15 and now turning 63 and have been playing consistently since late 2020 after intermittent absences…

When practicing scales, would you recommand doing it in the circle of the fiths order or from lowest to highest key normal order ? Or both? Great video btw!
