By what process did you select the optimum settings from the material test? The best dark, the best midtone or the best light? I don't believe I've heard anyone explain this. Thanks for the video!

It's all about the look in this case. Most of the test squares looked great and I could have used any of the settings. In a case such as this, I am looking at the speed and power to maximize my speed without over doing it on the power. With other material, there are physical tests you can do to help you select the parameters you want to use. I performed a material test on wood and was looking for a specific depth of the cut. In a case such as that, I can perform an objective test in obtaining my results. The slate material test was much more subjective. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the video. When you pulled the tile off the laser the engraving looked pretty white but when you showed the coasters at the end the engraving looked gray. When using array and using a jig for lets say 12 coasters, can you still use array?

I am sure the different look was due tot he lighting. I did not do anything to the coasters once they came off of the laser. I do have much better lighting in by the laser than I do where I shot that video. ;-)
Absolutely on using the array function and doing 12 coasters at one time. When you set that up, you need to make sure that each of the coasters in your array has a different offset. I talk about offset in the ua-cam.com/video/GEYx2Yn_Lns/v-deo.html video.
