Fierce kick capture and deadly blow: Ryu Ken Akuma Sean Dudley Chun-Li Elena Makoto: jab dashing overhead to medium dashing punch Yun Yang Ibuki: Medium dashing overhead to medium dashing punch Oro Alex: Fierce dashing Twelve Gill Urien Hugo Remy : medium dashing punch Q Necro: two medium dashing punches regardless of walls. Hope this helps people's Q's.
you can use his over head dash punches in combos as well which is a better option capture deadly blow dash punch overhead (medium overhead charge punch works on light characters, light over head works on middle weights) then you can finish it with another dash punch or go for a reset. this also has great wall carry, which is good for Q.
Half circle back + K (weak, strong, fierce) It's fairly hard to execute with people who are afraid to go in, but by the gods does this tutorial help out a LOT. I became SO much better with Q after watching this, even tho I had only played 3S for like 2 days. xD
lol i know you posted this a long time ago but its funny how things turn out now that we have super street fighter 4 coming out next year.such good feeling
Slight revision. For Oro use a medium overhead dashing punch followed by a medium dashing punch. If you're near enough to a wall, use the proper dashing punches that don't miss but extend the furthest without missing followed by another medium dashing punch. Ryu Ken Akuma Sean Dudley Chun-Li Elena Makoto Necro Q Urien Gill and Alex (optional) = two medium dashing punches near a wall. Alex Ibuki Oro = Fierce and then a medium
@Auronffx777 You need to charge away while doing said combo, for example: Jumping HP (This is when you start to charge back), Close MK, then do Towards + any punch button to do the dash punch.
@coolskillz13 limited options when rushed down, low mobility, slow attacks, mediocre health when no taunts are used, big hit box, etc. Unless your opponent sucks you pretty much play the waiting game with him looking for those openings.
@benjaminshinobi While you're jumping, keep pressing back to charge, then execute the combo HP (in the air), MK (on the ground), forward + LP (for the Dashing Punch).
@Skatemafia4lyfe2K6 Pre-charge buffering. A dash punch is usually back forward punch, instead of that do back - forward - back + punch so you're already charging the next punch before the first one connects.
remember SFIV is after part 2 but before 3rd strike... they still haven't met these characters yet. maybe when part 5 comes out many years from now the characters from 3 will come out and the parrying will return.
How do you cancel SAII from a Dashing Punch after a C&DB and make it connect? Whenever I cancel into SAII from a Dashing Punch juggle the cancel comes out but the opponent is already getting flown back from the Dash Punch making the SA2 miss/not connect. Do I have to do the Dash Punch later so it hits their upper body/head so that the SAII will connect on their legs? Or am I doing it too late and need to do the Dashing Punch earlier in their descent?
@Skatemafia4lyfe2K6 I know you posted a while ago but in case you didn't find: out you can't do that. The juggle count is too high so if you do EX the combo ends there. Nothing will connect after EX if you do cdb to dash punch to ex dash punch.
what is the preferred technique for charging the Dashing Punch while doing the combo? I'm trying to expand the characters I play as from Ryu and not really used to doing this. Do you start pressing back as soon as you jump?
@Swampinator I like Q because he's got the Deadly Double. And everytime I pull it off, I can't help but think... Execute: FALCON.... Punch: PUNCH! Slam: HYES!
Well, I'll agree on the tier thing. I tend to play bottom or low tiers in every game, with a few exceptions. However, tiers are there because they do exist. There are characters that are just better, even if you can win by just being better at the game. That said, the more I play this game the more underrated I think Q is. Q v Akuma is kind of a huge problem though, so I'd like to see a match vid of that one.
q's character design is based off of a japanese character named Robot Detective Q look up pictures of that guy. i think he's a sentient robot myself lol
Yeah I worded my tier post wrong, I meant those were the next tier down. Sorry about that. As far as Q being better than Twelve and Sean, I'm partly messing with people, part being serious. I actually do think Twelve is barely better or barely worse, whatever, but Sean is indeed definitely worse.
True, Q=bottom tier. But hey, if you're new to 3rd strike, don't let the tier listing dictate who you choose too much. You might miss out on a really fun and rewarding character, like Q!
Oh, and by the way, they could potentially BOTH be bottom, and said japanese tier list says they both are. It's not like "bottom" is referring to single worst in the game, just the group of worst characters.
I've tried and tried.. But I think I need to get a fight stick. Canceling is so hard with a controller -___- I can't even complete the second trial for Q...
Actually, I wonder why SFIV went back all the way to SFII with the characters and stuff. The whole new thing from III was promising, with new characters and a new storyline. If SFV comes out with a storyline after III, I'd like to know the product of Ryu's training under Oro.
Q could be anything, Q could be human, Q could be robot, Q might be both or neither. One things for certain tho, Q brings up a lot of Q's but I'm pretty sure we'll never get any A's.
Hmm, no. Last tier listing I saw, Q was placed at the single worst character in the game. Looking it up again, though, I found the japanese list, and they're both at bottom. Sean was 1 tier higher than Q (which I thought was reasonable) in the one I was referring to.
As far as I've heard, during SFIII, Ryu did for a little, but after the tournament, Oro kept thinking to himself if Ryu was worth it, since Oro beat him.
Japanese tiers are more right, usually. Completely different or otherwise, they're the ones I believe. IMO, Q is the worst in the game, because at least Sean and Twelve can go on the offensive without relying on a mixup. Hugo... not sure where he belongs. By the way, Gunnar, Denjin gets used a lot by Ryus, and Paaaauuul, top tier is Yun, Chun-Li, Ken, followed by Makoto (arguably), then Urien, Yang, Dudley last I checked.
*sigh* Apologies for double commenting for not being able to just add to stuff, but I'd like to say that looking through stuff I'm finding most people seem to agree that they're both in the bottom tier but that Sean is indeed dead last.
Not really humanly possible to kara C&DB, his best kara is back and strong, so you couldn't do HCB + strong + roundhouse, cause you'd just get strong slaps, and it's probably inhumanly possible to so back + strong, HCB + kick in less than 1/30th of a second.
Fierce kick capture and deadly blow:
Ryu Ken Akuma Sean Dudley Chun-Li Elena Makoto: jab dashing overhead to medium dashing punch
Yun Yang Ibuki: Medium dashing overhead to medium dashing punch
Oro Alex: Fierce dashing
Twelve Gill Urien Hugo Remy : medium dashing punch
Q Necro: two medium dashing punches regardless of walls.
Hope this helps people's Q's.
The only comprehensive and understandable Q guide for beginners I've ever found. Thanks for the upload. Audio copyright sucks though.
Best Q tutorial Ever!!!
The reset number 1 can be parried very easily
This guide is so well done it covers everything. Music is awesome too.
Now its time to be a q-mainer, it's incredible how this video is so old, and has aged so good as wine.
suscribed and liked.
Still good 17 years later
This tutorial is intelligent, comprehensive and freakin' awesome! thanks for posting!
Why hello random recommendation for a video I used to watch on my Windows XP computer
you can use his over head dash punches in combos as well which is a better option
capture deadly blow
dash punch overhead (medium overhead charge punch works on light characters, light over head works on middle weights)
then you can finish it with another dash punch or go for a reset.

yeah

Am a urien player but now am playing with q and found it so deep and interesting thanks for this guide
Wow, I haven't seen that many using Q effectively, but they should pay attention to this video.
Much appreciated!
AMAZING TUTORIAL. Exactly what I need to step up my Q game.
lol i know you posted this a long time ago but its funny how things turn out now that we have super street fighter 4 coming out next year.such good feeling
Very nice primer on Q. Just what I needed bub.
Slight revision. For Oro use a medium overhead dashing punch followed by a medium dashing punch. If you're near enough to a wall, use the proper dashing punches that don't miss but extend the furthest without missing followed by another medium dashing punch.

My favorite 3rd Strike character, always use him online. Awesome video.
Third Strike coming to PSN and XBLA! I will most definitely be using Q. I just love his awesome defense.
@coolskillz13 limited options when rushed down, low mobility, slow attacks, mediocre health when no taunts are used, big hit box, etc.
Unless your opponent sucks you pretty much play the waiting game with him looking for those openings.
I am the best Q on PSN, I learned most of what I know now from this vid years ago.
@benjaminshinobi While you're jumping, keep pressing back to charge, then execute the combo HP (in the air), MK (on the ground), forward + LP (for the Dashing Punch).
boy this will take really getting used to
@Skatemafia4lyfe2K6 Pre-charge buffering. A dash punch is usually back forward punch, instead of that do back - forward - back + punch so you're already charging the next punch before the first one connects.
Q is my favorite fighter. This helps a lot. Thank you.
@Swampinator Roscharch and Q were inspired by Question (DC Comics)
Very nice video. Good soundtrack choice too.
Best q tutorial
@Swampinator I know, right? With a bit of Daft Punk in it for good measure.
I love watching good Q players. Kuroda is a god among men. LOW TIER POWAH!
remember SFIV is after part 2 but before 3rd strike... they still haven't met these characters yet. maybe when part 5 comes out many years from now the characters from 3 will come out and the parrying will return.

Great tutorial :)
Wait, Ryu trains under Oro in the SFIII series?
Thanks a lot guys, that was very helpful
you cant cancel the standing jab into roundhouse capture, i needs at least one frame to wait before do the capture.
Most logical statement on youtube award
@Skatemafia4lyfe2K6
I know you posted a while ago but in case you didn't find: out you can't do that. The juggle count is too high so if you do EX the combo ends there. Nothing will connect after EX if you do cdb to dash punch to ex dash punch.

Execute: FALCON....

@Swampinator always reminded me of inspector gadgit/frankinstein
how do you do that grab that sets up for everything?
saving this for when the re-release of 3rd strike hits consoles...I want to main Q>..
I love this video!

still viable
How do you dash punch during a combo?
i always liked Q cause of his resemblance to Rorschach from watchmen.
@manicx101 So how is he solid in any way...
9-1 match up is... fun?
Epic tutorial!
@MrShirouzen hmm...maybe Dan in a Deadpool mask?
This tutorial doesn't cover a lot of SA3, but it has some pretty high damage combos, so it must be pretty good, right?
How does the Kara throw work..? Whenever I try.. I just punch him.. Sorry I'm a noob but I need some help with that haha
DANGER! DANGER! HIGH VOLTAGE!
When Q appeared out of no where in the Arcade version and dashed across the screen I almost shit my pants.
How do you get the dash punch timing after Q’s throw?
Haha! Are you kidding? Q's definite BOTTOM. He's hella fun though. :)
Forget that, both Dudley and Balrog should have been in SFIV, that match would be epic.
A good Q player is more fun to watch than an expert Ken/Ryu player.
kara moves are special moves that get extended range
q's character design is based off of a japanese character named Robot Detective Q look up pictures of that guy. i think he's a sentient robot myself lol

one question: ¿ How Fight with Q like my opponent arcade version? can you answer me please.
Forgive my ignorance, but what are kara moves???
holy shit.
Best Q.
PSN.
x'D
THAT LAG.
How to do 2 dash punches in sequence? Anyone can help?
Oh, and by the way, they could potentially BOTH be bottom, and said japanese tier list says they both are. It's not like "bottom" is referring to single worst in the game, just the group of worst characters.

@manicx101 Also, Sean to Chun 9-1? Didn't know Sean beat Chun that bad.
strong hcb kick
...thanks holmes
@greatcaptainusopp I just can't take off this damn smile. The only thing to do now is wait 2 months.
@piccorotto It's never really been confirmed that it's a mask. Q May be a robot.
Just saying
holy shit this vid is fucking sick
So is this why so many people us Yun in their games?
Q could be anything, Q could be human, Q could be robot, Q might be both or neither. One things for certain tho, Q brings up a lot of Q's but I'm pretty sure we'll never get any A's.
If Q is Rorshach, then who's Deadpool?
Tier lists assume both players are of equal or similar skill.
I like how the video edit Q grapping every1 LMAO
Japanese tiers are more right, usually. Completely different or otherwise, they're the ones I believe. Q is a combination of Rorschach and Darth Vader. Hmm hmm hmm hm hmm!
@manicx101 Balrog isn't smart enough to be Q, but i think he fights like him.
In the beginning I mean.
*sigh* Apologies for double commenting for not being able to just add to stuff, but I'd like to say that looking through stuff I'm finding most people seem to agree that they're both in the bottom tier but that Sean is indeed dead last.
dan wins all
hands down
no contest

Welcome to the future
Why is Q low-tier? Seems mid-tier to me.
@4:11 😢
Q for SFxT!
Q is Balrog.
theres no deadpool look alike in 3s...
Lol? I've played and beaten most of the Q players on psn. There are a few good ones though can't lie.
Me suscribo ;v
Nah.
I've actually heard tales that SF3: OE's netcode actually runs better on PSN.
I'm just salty because I play on Xbox and shit lags like crazy.
