Great Smoky Mountain Railroad 1702- First Runs of 2020 with New Whistle!

- Here are some clips of the third steam Nantahala Gorge run of 2020. There is no first class cars in the consist; just crown and coach. Not much has changed on 1702 cosmetically but the GSMR shop crews have built their own whistle resembling a Southern Railway Step-Top 3 Chime like 4501 and Dollywood 70 wear. The first half is clips of the west bound run and the last half is a deadhead move back to Dillsboro.
If only 722 could run again

@@BenBensonStudios That is 100% a lie. She is still sitting at the shops to this day. GSMR wont scrap a steam locomotive.

@@tylergreen4843 It would likely be interesting. No idea what GSMR would do with 610, but they might restore her. 610 is still the next engine on the restoration line. But of course, 610 is always delayed by something.
Fun fact: I had actually talked to one of the TVRM staff and they said that 610 had been steamed up about 3 years ago. No idea why.
First class will hopefully resume by August.

They didn't need it sitting in Bryson City during the week. They deadhead it back and for to Bryson. For October they keep it fired up over night.
What kind of whistle did she have before this one?
Rizzoli Locomotive Works 3 chime Southern long bell.. aka Ps4. It sounded nothing like a Ps4. It was awful. This new shop-built whistle is much better
Jarrett Prince I personally loved that whistle she had before. I always thought it sounded like an 8 inch Crosby. I mean I love this one too, but I loved the PS4 whistle she had, it had a deeper more authoritative sound too it in my opinion.
Matt Gaming The old one wasn't bad but they didn't open it all the way. When it was opened all the way it was alright. The problem is it didn't sound anything like it was supposed to. I wish they would make a copy of the IC 6 chime it wore in the 90s. That was my favorite.

Nonsense! They would never scrap her she's in pieces outside the yard waiting for possible restoration.
Bruh. They aren't gonna restore her. She really should've gone to the NC Transportation Museum.
That does sound like a good idea. But she would have to be transported by a flat truck. Maybe they should take her to strasburg railroad and work there they do need another steam locomotive. I'm not sure how long restoration will be but I have a lot of faith in the Crew members.
Well that's a great idea by the way. She can pull excursion trains there. Because I was also thinking the Tennessee valley railroad museum.
Southern railway 630 is her twin sister after all. And it would be nice to see the sisters reunited again.
