    The heck is with this review, you’d expect going in with an unbiased opinion rather than saying “the fiesta is the best hot hatch. Can the i20N be the fiesta” it’s a different car that will have different pros and cons. I never thought having 3 different choices for an exhaust note would be a con because (stupidly) you can’t decide what mode you want to be choosing as you’re driving?
    How about wanting a quiet note in the early morning, or opening up the valve when you get in for a weekend drive.
    Might need to broaden your view a bit

    The Fiesta seems too "eager" and skittish in the corners, the i20 seems more planted, I do prefer it. I can see why people would choose the Fiesta though... more youthful in the driving, more adult in its looks (interior and exterior). The i20 is the other way around, it seems.

    • @dragbag1616
      @dragbag1616 3 роки тому +2

      It seems to be, and it is if you "over drive" it like they do a lot in reviews because that makes for good video and entertainment. But as someone who drives his MK8 ST in time attack events: It can be planted too if you trail brake it properly. I even put mine to -2 degrees camber front to get even more front bite... and it still can take a bit more, even though it already is really good at it. FWD setups just have to be very "eager" imo.

    Anyone looking at this or a fiesta ST…. Test drove the i20N yesterday with the idea of throwing my money at them after getting out the car with all that I’ve heard, unfortunately that didn’t happen. It was great fun and the rev matching is addictive but the suspension is so harsh! it couldn’t be a daily unless you have ultra smooth roads (we don’t in the UK) its a real shame really as its the main sticking point. If your looking for a weekend car or you like occasionally going to a track then buy this and don’t hesitate you will love it but if you need it to also go into town or drive to work you may get a bit fed up with it. I tested the Fiesta ST as well and its definitely noticeable how more compliant it is, still firm but more tolerable day to day and still gave me the biggest smile driving, ordering my ST this week, im almost disappointed as i was really hoping to prefer the I20N.

      No, I don't think that is it. The PowerShift Automatic FIASCO cost Ford dearly. They should have ditched that doomed transmission instead of push ahead and lose their customers' trust. Had the auto option of the Fiesta and Focus been a conventional torque converter, I believe they would have kept one or the other here in our market, and the ST variant along with it. Until the troubles were truly laid bare with how bad the PowerShift design was, both models were still selling in good numbers. Sells went off a cliff when they announced the cancellations...
      It makes me so sad that we cannot even buy Ford's two best cars: the Fiesta ST and the Focus ST hatchback while other markets get to buy both. They should do what VW is doing buy selling only the GTI for the Golf in North America. Ford can sell us just the ST performance variants - I'll take the Fiesta ST OR the Focus ST whichever they decide to bring us. It's Ford's own home market they are screwing. WHY Ford WHY?!

    i would consider the comparison more fair, if fiesta was using the stock dumpers and not coil-over ones.
    As we all know coil overs can transform a car, making it more comfortable for the everyday driver, and same time more sport by letting you change the stock camber, caster and toe numbers. Furthermore coil overs let you change both bound and rebound. Stock st dumpers are really annoying for everyday drive, and ford knows that, so to deal with this, they gave the 28.000 pounds edition, so as to keep this con secret. Finally, for the more ...punchy top end of the ford, i would like to know what boost the ford runs, above 6.000 rpms. I20N drops boost below 1 bar above 6.000 rpms (0,8-0,9) for long run reliability and to keep the engine strong. If ford uses 1.2-1.4 bar boost them in the long run i see a lot of engine funerals. That why hyunday gives 5 years warranty without miles limitation, and ford gives only 2 years. ( i speak for factory quaranties).

    I'm buying an I20N this Christmas and I kinda don't like how you judged Hyundai as Fiesta fan (as you said). You said fully loaded fiesta costs almost 29k which is 3-4k€ more than Hyundai and if you would have fiesta spected at 25-26k€ it wouldn't be as fun as i20N is which makes Hyundai much better when it comes to price/performance/features ratio.
    Then there is 0-100km/h which Hyundai can do 0.4 sec faster than fiesta, (I20N- 6.2s, ST- 6.6s) which is a lot and you didn't mentioned that either. You also didn't say anything about the looks of the cars because I20N looks much sportier and aggressive. Then there is difference between fiesta's 3 cyl and Hyundai's 4 cyl and if you would ask me or many car guys, just because of the extra 1 cyl and more reliability, many of them would choose Hyundai instead of Ford and that leads me to the next thing which is sound that these cars make( 3cyl will never have such an aggressive sound as 4cyl engine and that's fact). Then there is the clutch which I20N has hardened and Fiesta has not... For me is I20N real winner and that was just one sided comparison from his side (because he is fiesta fan) which could make people deciding between Hyundai and Ford lean towards buying ford which I'm very disappointed about.

The performance you get for the money is unmatched as well. Ford might make the fiesta and focus on Europe but they have lost their head all over the world selling SUVs/CUVs/truck and an atrociously named mustang Mach E. They closing operations in many countries around the world snd their supply chain is just garbage.
