My buddy built that truck originally, all the “improvements” he did are the problems you see. That truck was perfectly minimalistic and raw before he made it “better” Regardless, congrats!! It’s got good bones.
The editing just keeps getting better and better. I think this series is amazing. Great for people with a love for motorsport but haven't got their start yet. I know the drivetrain is sorted, but I would love to see that Level7 wire and cable management touch put on it under the hood!
I followed the guy on instagram you bought this from. Cool to see it ended up in excellent hands. Really excited for this!I’d love see a seat set up that can be swapped in and out from race seats back to the bench or original buckets. I believe your yellow truck was set up that way? Can’t wait to see what all gets done!
That was the funniest L7 video I've seen! 😂🤣Welcome to OBS nation 😎Love that truck despite some of the mild imperfections. Looking forward to seeing what you're doing with the suspension....and more OBS parts development too!!!
Coincidence that you and Robbie got OBSs at the same time? 🤔 I’d love to see a video that breaks down 3 link vs 4 link when converting to coilovers and what type of driving/racing each would be best suited for. Maybe an explanation of panhard angle and what effect changing the angle has on handling. Keep making awesome content!
I’m looking forward to this series, I’ve got an engine sent off to be machined and rotating assembly balanced but on the fence for what compression it will end up at. I’ve got a turbo and manifold for the setup but if compression is too high then I’ll go na. Was wanting something for autocross but at the same time a fun street truck would be amazing.
Looking forward to suspension mods. Especially anything to help front end geometry. Having been wrenching on 3 projects which were modded before a friend and I worked on them, I'm all for building from a clean stock vehicle, chasing other people's screw ups gets old. Don't mean to be negative but we just replaced a TAC module in a C5 which was missing a bracket. Just the latest correction of a pretty expensive build for the original owner. But... you'll have some nice don't do this stuff to cover in the videos.
@@level7motorsportsI say the same thing but sadly I dont see much support to build them into autocross trucks like the c10s. Trying to build my 04 isnt as easy or fun with out off the shelf parts.
3 pedal trucks FTW. Core-shifters Raised fulcrum short shifter was the best mod I did for my manual swap in my NNBS. It's a 13" tall stick on a fbody t56 and the throw is short.
There is definitely a lot of work to be done but there is also a lot of potential like you had said. I just got me an obs ( 97) with a vortex 454 in it and if I keep it I'll be going the same route as this truck you have with the turbo 6.0 6 speed so I'm very excited to see how this thing turns out for you
All in all, i dont think you over paid. Its got a forged motor, with a turbo, a t56, on a clean body truck, with nice wheels and some extra whistles. This will be fun to watch.
What parts are bottoming out? I have a 95 c1500 with my own 4 link rear. Currently rebuilding the front suspension with ridetech a arms and a coilover tower through frame of my own design. Don't plan to go as low as you though, even though it looks better
Love ya Jesse and your shop's amazing work 👍👍, but $27k does not equal "blue collar". But I'm keen on seeing you give this high-powered jalopy the much-needed makeover it needs.
Thanks! Well I make 78k per year and I was able to afford the payment and some parts when the paycheck comes. Responsible… that’s a different conversation.
@@level7motorsports Fair enough. "Blue collar" can certainly be relative. And I think you're airing on the high side of that term. But I get this build will be way more "budget" than the bucks-up builds you do for customers.
Is it wrong that i actually like the Work(or rep) wheels on there lol? Nice pickup Jesse, im excited to see the progression! Also excited for the spirit of the build, taking it back to the old days
It is a 98-99 F body transmission. Position is ok but we will be addressing that in the next episode. Wouldn’t work if you had a bench. You would definitely want a T56 magnum.
First time ive ever seen your channel or videos. So seriously, thats a 27k OBS? I understand what all it is, but still. I guess now i can't afford a nice OBS or a nice S10. Good thing i still own my 94 S10, because i certainly couldn't afford to buy it again. Prices are insane.

Damm 27k and the only thing it has is a built engine and trany what about the interior body and paint wheels they really saw you coming buddy lol you should know better
Hahah, so you know that on the way home (I was driving very slowly and carefully) my engine died and the wiring caught fire? But I never said a single bad word about the previous owner, because I respect his work and understand that this is a modified truck with which anything can happen. And he put me another block, for which respect to him, even though I paid him money for that. Unfortunately, this block did not last even one burnout and after that I decided swap the engine to 6.0. The suspension was all old, I changed all the steering rods, since the truck could drive only straight and even then it was not stable. Cornering was out of the question. There were bicycle wheels in front, the axle was jumping, the interior was in terrible condition. And I still respect him because it was my decision to buy this truck. I fixed a lot, but there were things that I didn’t get around to, for example, the fuel system, which is located in the bed. This is not a build from scratch, I just corrected numerous bugs every weekend. With this suspension it allows you to drift for fun and at the same time be very low. This is my style. So how did I ruin the truck? Let's go point by point. I never said that the truck was perfect, but truck is really fun. And I never forced Jesse to buy it. Even while talking to Jesse, I insisted on going and showing the truck to his friend before make a deal! So that there are no questions for me. I had to travel 1.5 hours one way, but I wanted everything to be fair. And Jesse didn't say anything bad to me in a DM after the purchase, but I can see that he's unhappy in the video and in the comments here. Which I think is not respectful, because people don’t see all the nuances.
Please don’t take this badly. I am not un happy at all. I am happy with what I bought and am having a blast making it my own! I mean no disrespect at all.
I love the Work Meisters on it. That's DEFINITELY not the normal boring wheel you'd see on an OBS.
As a retired man, on a fixed-income, I am really looking forward to this series...
That means more level 7 obs parts!!
hell yeah
Not putting anyone down. You bought it. Lol😂
That’s an awesome truck! 27k is definitely not a budget truck. But I can’t wait to see the improvements!

Looking forward to this very much. It’s a good angle!

The bed sode fill is reminiscent of 90s NASCAR truck series.
I was fingers crossed you would have done this series eventually with a 99-06 base LS silverado. But the OBS is a great platform as well.
Honestly it’s on the list and it’s probably one best bang for the buck truck to build.

If you figure what I would have paid for another 650whp engine and a t56 magnum package, it would be what I paid for the whole truck.

You’re on the same path I am. We are doing their arms, our own upper mount, and a 3 link. Right now the front crossmember is dragging the ground.
What is the suspension setup on there now?
Stock everything up front with the addition of a coilover. The rear is flipped, shackles, less leafs, and caltracks.
Actually like the Works and ride height, truck looks bad ass! But I understand you might go bigger brakes and better suspension geometry.
I love the Meisters they just won’t fit my brakes and lug pattern.
