I am a fan of the 5.3s . I put one in a 70c-10. Added Same generation z06 valvtrain and cam with a tune 400hp and 430tq to wheels for not much money. Stock ecu pulled from whatever vehicle. Hp tuners. Swap harness. Done
What was your build recipe for building 400/430 (especially the 430) from a 5.3? Usually lb fts isn't much higher without it having the longer stroke of the 6.0.
It's almost as fast as my 08 c6 corvette I have a HP Tuner I clock in at 350 to wheel on the highway stock engine with a cam swap upgrade and 3.23 zexel torsen rear. I also rebuild my 4L80E trans.

Just sold an LQ9 short lock with a pair of 799 heads for $750 2 weeks ago… I’ve had several of them and a single 6.2L from a burnt 08 Denali…. Currently have a couple L33 aluminum block 5.3L
The Denali didn't come with an LQ9. They are LQ4. I've bought several and the vin shows they are LQ4 6.0... Also the 2 wheel drive Escalades are 5.3, only the all wheel drive Escalades are LQ9 6.0
It tales a different belt and has electric fans. A few other differences. Alternator. My mother bought the truck new. I'll keep it forever probably. Is it worth rebuilding this engine instead of getting another one. Want to turbo it at some point.
@@jerryantaya1266 that would be the L33 engine. Not super rare, but definitely less common. The aluminum blocks won’t take as much boost, so don’t go crazy with it. But it’s a good engine
Little bit of work? The intake and heads and injectors can support 700hp at crank before anything is not sufficient. Delete cylinder deactivation and the vvt do a trunion upgrade just to be safe and be selective on the cam+ matching springs to meet your build. Apr head studs are a great upgrade as well. Get a tune by someone who knows what there doing and invest in long tube headers. Reliable, dependable and unless u choose a stage 1 cam your gonna be over 500hp with loads of torque. Plus that weight savings! Richard holdermeyer has great videos dyno testing various ls builds great info source where u can see how much each modification makes!
@@WayneMontes-mh7bp it’s possible to use the 700r4. Just need a spacer on the crank. Just google 5.3 to 700r4. Don’t use a 4l60e, they’re junk. A 4l80e would be the best option
I wonder if it's just better to buy a Dart LS Next gen3 block, about $4000, sure you have to buy the crank, cam pistons and a whole lot extra to build it but in the long run you can get a lot more horse power, plus you have a new block that doesn't have the design floors from the old block. You could buy a second hand LS block that's blown itself up for the ECU heads if they are ok and all the accessory crap. But your core, the block, pistons, crank would be all new, strong and hell and you have piece of mind. The second hand LS market for blocks is getting too expensive for what they are these days.
@@tronwars7130 that would be a sick build, but it would be super expensive! The factory iron blocks didn’t have many major flaws. By the time you buy everything to complete that engine you’re looking at an easy $10k plus. And then you still need everything else to get it running in your chassis
Got a 6.2 with a 4l80e.totally rebuilt with Wiseco forged pistons,Scat forged rods,Texas Speed stage 2 n/a cam with Pac .660 springs and BTR rockers with version 2 trunions.Its going in my 96 Silverado thats got a QA1 stage 2 full suspension kit front and rear.Eaton Trutrack with Yukon 3.73s.Should be pretty sweet with around 550hp at the crank.

@Teysik I use to work at a Chevy dealership. No it's not tune key at 13 grand. But honestly, the only oe parts I would want is the intake. Everything else can be gained from the aftermarket and work better than the original

@ 100% agree. Finding a good 6.0 is harder . But prices have also come down . For a while those 6.0s were treated like golden Nugget’s

6.0 LS L77 V8 Holden Commodore and Pontiac G8 and Chevy Caprice PPV, Chevy SS , L94 6.2 V8.
All good engines, i opted for the ly6 6.0 with the ls3 heads. Great for boost with iron block and aluminium heads

I have a truck 6.0 in my 87 el Camino with a 4L80E fit with no problem All truck accessories except for the water pump in the oil PAN .

I wouldn’t recommend buying an LS2 out of a Trailblazer SS. Bearings are most likely shot or going bad. Terrible front sump oil pickup tube design.
