I have been painting pots for over a year. I have tried so many methods and ruined too many pots. I use spray paint, acrylics and whatever I want to experiment with. Lots of $$. Ok, so this particular method I use works the best for me. After washing and drying each pot, (completely dried) I use a sealant, Modge Podge, spray sealant, Linseed oil. I completely seal both the INSIDE and outside of pot. After completely dried, I am ready to start my color schemes. Once the paint is dry, I completely seal the outside. Linseed oil, is great as with the other sealents. Of course, use 1 or the other.
Because, here in Mexico, the pots aren't cooked well or what ever is done, the pots start to crumble and are not sustainable in the intense heat we have. With all of $ and time I have spent time on my own creation on each pot, I was undeniably upset and surprised. So this has been trial by error. I am grateful for the way my pots are holding up. Good luck!

@@MCPLIndiana It went well! I would put a picture, UA-cam does not allow it. I now have some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle plant friends.

What are your favourite sealants? DO you ever prime your pots?
