🤠 Berkey powerbait ripple shad minnows Are good for a little bit of every species of fish. Caught a few crappies, trout, Smallmouth and largemouth bass, perch, pickerel and even good for panfish. When Fish are hungry they won't bite on just about anything that looks good to them, well okay maybe some of the time they will.
I've been using the 5" ones for pike, they catch fish and will generally withstand quite a few pike. I have one in my tacklebox right now that has probably caught around a dozen pike and is still hanging in there, maybe not great for little fish, but for fish with big teeth its good. I've had softer baits completely demolished even on a single missed strike...
did i say it doesn't work? I just said it is too stiff. U can still catch fish with it but the problem is, if there is nicer baits out there then why bother
They are actually good baits when used on umbrella/Alabama rigs for bass. Their "toughness" make them hold up very well on the rough use they will endure on such a rig. Yes I can see where they would be a little tougher than preferred when using on a solo swimbait/jighead presentation.
yeah, they would work well on umbrella. Also if there is a lot of current, so the tail works even though it is stiff. Perfect application would be white bass fishing in a river.. White bass put a lot of tear on the lures..
as soon as I saw this video I new you were going to say they where to stiff bought them years ago and hate them look good but that's all they are way to stiff do not waste your money the brewers are great . I was thinking u might put them in hot water them soften them up but have not tried to do that yet.
I have the same experience with these baits in the smallest size. They are super stiff, they do have incredible action when they are moving fast. Usually, when I use it, I set it up a weighted jig, typically when it falls it will have incredible action, reel up fast for action and then let it drop again at speed. Sometimes that triggers them because it looks like a dying fish instead of a healthy swimming thing. I have no idea if crappies will hit them in this manner. I do however rip my trout magnets and other small plastics like a jerk bait and then pause and I find this triggers more bites than just jigging in my area. Probably because of the pressure and I am just making them do a reactionary strike. This bait has also been out for a long time, needs a revision and has falling behind the times. They will get to it, just like they got to their worms and creature baits. Good review, keep them coming.
i_fish I got some one inch swim baits from AliExpress. Not bad, it had scent too. Good soft plastic. But I threw it in the trash cuz the scent smelled like dead fish... and I wouldn’t be surprise if they used real dead fish to scent it. (No joke..it’s entirely possible). This is the same people who sell fake 3m and n95 masks and that was with people’s health!
I bought a mix pack of these a couple years ago. They suck. No action, I even struggle to get any tail action in the current. But Berkley powerbait has some good stuff. The hollow bellies are great.
You selected the smallest 2" size Ripple Shad. The larger sizes like the 3.5" may have better action. I have one pack of the larger size, I will tell you how they work.
I agree guys. Unless you are targeting bigger predators like bass, walleye, or northern pike then 3.5" Ripple Shads won't do the trick for you. Thanks for sharing how stiff the 2" baits are.
got a 4 pound striper on a tiny crappie jig, a couple nice drum and a bunch of small white bass. Zero catfish. Strange. I had big juicy cutbait in the water all day. How did u do? also email me to get ur contact info. U can get my email from description box in any of the videos..
If the tail is not working stretch it, and it will work, also what could be the problem is becouse they are not packed the right way and the tail is straightened up
for what fish? Its a 2" bait. What u gona target with faster and shaper presentation? Only thing i can think of is white bass, unless u think about saltwater
Totally agree they are too stiff and little action.... i’ve had some for 5 years or so and have tried them a bunch (because I do like them being scented) but they have ended up in a box...
i thought they came out last year.... i dont know when i have lived without ever seeing these. This actually makes sense, as 5 years ago the plastics were all much stiffer than they are today..
Man you were on fire with those white bass. I haven't tried the CB baits yet but I'm currently restocking so I'll take a peek at them. I tried some Keitech Tungsten jig recently that I love. Their made in Japan and sticky sharp. By the way, I'm loving that Presso paired up with the Legalis.
Darn I missed a video. Those jigs are kinda cool looking. I'm going to try them on some perch. But thank you for the video and sharing your experience. Really enjoy your reviews thanks. Is this the reel your giving away?
funny story. I have one piece of these, in pearl white. An angler in Arkansas gave it to me once when i asked him what is he catching all these bass with.. I never tried it
Did you ever update the Ulterra software? My used to be that calm in spot lock but after I update software it turns too much and wrap the wire to the point I be scare it snap the cable.
i update it all the time. It does it from the phone, and i use the phone as remote all the time because i keep forgetting the god dang remote at home. I get a pupup that it needs new software and i click OK. Mine was always choking, to be honest, from day 1. I hate this thing so bad, thinking of trying Garmin motor next

dusty dude I don’t know about Lopro battteries on a boat. So many things. Vibration. Waves. And saltwater if he ever goes there. He should step up to a larger battery with higher standby time or set up a battery switch on the boat with the second battery powering accessories, one for crank engine only. We did this with our saltwater boat, and the accessory battery would be charged by solar panels. There is also a smart switch available for dual battery setups which will charge both batteries from the alternator when you are moving.
To be clear this video is a couple weeks old and i ordered them after that trip but before this comment. And i got a cheaper brand. What can go wrong. Hmmm
i_fish nothing can go wrong. Nothing. Fire extinguisher can put it out, wait. It can’t. Too hot. Don’t worry, you will be surrounded by water. Don’t watch bigclivedotcom youtube channel also. He invites fear. This is what I used to charge two batteries. Blue Sea Systems Automatic Charging Relays (ACRs) www.amazon.com/dp/B000OTIPDQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_UdS5EbNHH8K1M. I wired that in, and then a manual separate battery isolator with a switch. Tons of 2 gauge and 1 ga cable. Everything at blue marine.
You don't like it but you catching a load of fish. I wonder how many fish you catch with baits you like. Good video and audio but camera angle little off, missing the all the good shots.
see, i don't want to make a review without any video of fish. And i couldnt catch any other fish with this thing. So i decided to go for white bass just because only white bass is dumb enough to eat it anyway. But honestly i would have caught white bass with every other bait in my bag that day.. The camera angle was somewhat intentional. Didn't want people to take a good look around.
same crap... i get exactly the same results.. there are on ali express even better soft plastics then the known brands... search for tsurinoya soft lure or kingdom soft lure... many great brands.. stop wasting money!
@@ifishcatfish sorry the Florida heat is getting to me lol. Oh and by the way I can't believe some people unsubscribe your channel over Carp videos. Keep up the great videos your one of the more knowledgeable fishing channels out there especially in light tackle right there with Randy trout magnet man.

Smallmouth and largemouth bass, perch, pickerel and even good for panfish.

I would agree, but just to make it VERY CLEAR: design IS flawed for 2in only, while 3in and larger ones work GREAT!
Several others said same thing. I never tried the bigger but sound like they are better
I got some mine look more flexible

I have caught alot of fish on the Ripple Shad especially crappie. Maybe try fishing it differently. This bait works well.

i_fish the bag I have opened has been at least three or four years

Cook them for 5min and let them cool down slowly. It will make them perfect soft and give them a very attractive action.
several other mentioned them - it probably works.. This is more work than I am willing to put in a bait though : )
I couldn't agree with you more! CB Slider Grubs are so much superior. These Ripple Shads are made to catch fishermen more than fish.
yup. nothing to add here
I bought a mix pack of these a couple years ago. They suck. No action, I even struggle to get any tail action in the current. But Berkley powerbait has some good stuff. The hollow bellies are great.
yup.. Berkley has good stuff for sure but i don't know who approved this bait. It's plastic instead of soft silicon
You selected the smallest 2" size Ripple Shad. The larger sizes like the 3.5" may have better action. I have one pack of the larger size, I will tell you how they work.
Midwest Fischerman maybe, but that makes them mostly useless for smaller fish...
what brian said
I agree guys. Unless you are targeting bigger predators like bass, walleye, or northern pike then 3.5" Ripple Shads won't do the trick for you. Thanks for sharing how stiff the 2" baits are.
Gitzit makes a 2 inch paddle tail with good action
looks pretty, but I aint using notin with 1/0 hook
Try the keitech easy shiner 2inch, best i've tried so far. Only negative is that they're a bit expensive.
for what fish? Seems a bit large for crappie..
@@ifishcatfish yes crappie and pan fish, best I've used so far. Squid scented just like the bigger varieties.
I just ordered 2 packs of 25 9cm 3.5inch . Orange FT and blue shiner gold hopefully the 9cm are better
The big ones are not as bad, because they are big and easier to flex
Hello Victor! I met you today at Lasalle Lake. It was a pleasure meeting you and hope you did well. Let’s go fishing sometime.

They sure do put a lot into the appearance of the baits Victor!!
Yeah no kiddin :)
If the tail is not working stretch it, and it will work, also what could be the problem is becouse they are not packed the right way and the tail is straightened up
this is more work than i want to perform on a lure. There are so many alternatives - why bother..
@@ifishcatfish i agree but ripple shad i made to be presented more aggressively and jigged faster and sharper
for what fish? Its a 2" bait. What u gona target with faster and shaper presentation? Only thing i can think of is white bass, unless u think about saltwater
@@ifishcatfish look at my profile on instagram @piperfishing and see it.
I use same 2" for perch,pike,zander
@@ifishcatfish stretching them does give them a bit more action, worth a shot if you’re gonna spend the time to cut them..

Boiling them 30 some seconds will make them softer but soft enough i dont know as those look really stiff
i am not boiling baits... even if it works : )

Great bait, seen it, but kinda big for me. For white bass it would be ok but not for crappie
