Such an under-appreciated film with one of the greatest soundtracks I’ve ever heard. So sad the original cut got butchered for its wide-release with around half an hour being cut out of it. This made the version most of us saw quite disjointed, but the beauty remains for the most part. Get it one Blu ray if you can (there are a few still out there, try Ebay) as it is a visual spectacle too. It really puts you in the literal and emotional space that Shelley and co occupied at that time of their lives, full of wonder and tragedy. What a movie.
Wonderful movie about the real-life events that inspired Mary Shelly to create what would go on to become one of the most definitive horror masterpieces of all time: Frankenstein :) Another great movie worth checking out that's also based on the same real-life story behind the making of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein: Haunted Summer ;)
Also the 1987 film Gothic. All 3 movies (1 England, 1 Spain and 1 USA Productions), were made within 18 months of each other about the exact same events of the summer of 1816.
