He's still a work in progress, he's very young and full of energy and his competitiveness got the best of him a couple times, but it's good to know he's working on it because it will ensure his domination for years to come.
The mental side of the game is getting so important nowadays. Being able to recognize when your opponent is struggling, focusing on your stuff and don't let emotions take over when making a mistake are just some of the key aspects I tried to improve this summer. Waiting for your online courses bro🧠. Keep improving!
Around 8.29 million people practice mediation in the UK. The mental/ psychology side of things will increase during this decade, just like working out and running seems to have exploded, (covid restrictions definitely factor in the increase). Seeing people like Carlos Alcaraz working on the mental as well as the physical. Definitely means he is ahead of a considerable amount of his competition! Thanks for sharing this!

Everyone always focuses on the physical pary for sports like being fit, even though that part is very very important the mental side of it is just as important. If you have a bad mental state while playing sports you will fail a good example of this is dele alli. Great video
Hi Sam, in 10+ years of working with elite athletes, as you’d expect, I’ve encountered many sport psychs. As with anything, there are some better than others. ‘Range’ of experience is normally what separates them. Similarly, athletes who can afford psychs with that range are a significant minority. Most athletes don’t have that luxury, therefore the psychs they encounter are themselves sometimes “cognitively entrenched” by existent theory. So it’s akin to that vicious circle when they leave university, knowledge v experience. It’s the latter which will separate them from their peers. Indeed most modern professional sports coaches have a very good grasp of the key psych principles. Therefore the ‘gap’ previously filled by sport psychs is narrowing. So I have one piece of advice, if seeking to engage a psych, look for one with a range of experience and preferably, not just within sport.
Thanks for offering your take Jeffrey - spot on as ever. Really interesting you mention "range" in terms of experience. I think that's something often overlooked where sometimes athletes want the 'go-to' guy or girl who works with athletes in (insert whatever sport). The problem is, you can often just get someone who confirms your existing biases / tells you what you 'want' to hear rather than 'need' to hear. Great book in/around this space is "Rebel Ideas" by Matthew Syed in case you've not read it.
Alcaraz's a godzilla grunting doper . His physical transformation is super sus in 2021. No 19 year old played 3 five setters in a row and played the final looking that fit at that age . Considering the spanish tennis doping history and less number of tests and rapid body transformation.dude is defo juicing
Nice video, could you please explain or show where did you find out that Alcaraz has seen à sport psychologist between his defeat and his victory versus djoko ? Like, when we see your video we tell ourselves that you are right and that this secret weapon helped him win vs Djoko, but now could you give us the link or place where you learned this info, thank you
He came out of nowhere?! Just check his background. Having everything he needed on Nadal's academy, best coaches and training conditions that any other young player can just dream of. And after all, this is very complicated sport, so many things can go wrong. I'm really not a fan of big predictions
@@nolabets3130 Yeah, i saw that against Medvedev. And again, commenting without checking background?! Let me save u "so much time" from simple google search. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Emil Ruusuvuori, Casper Ruud...
Alcaraz will drop out of the top 10 by the age of 25 owing to injuries. He will be injury prone. Prediction for the U.S Open. Alcaraz out in the quarters. Djokovic out in the semis. Djokovic new world no1, but someone else the new U.S open champ.
@@jkj1459 Well the prediction was wrong for the quarters. But that aside, it's just dumb to wish him all the best, for that is to wish his opponents all the worst.

Absolutely spot on 👍 it's honestly what will be the biggest 'final edge' that separates the best from the rest. Keep up the hard work 💪

great example for sure 👍
This man Alcaraz is going to destroy the game! He's absolute beast!
think he’ll win the US open?
@@SamMartinPeakPerformance It's been 15 years since someone won Uso back to back. I think he can!
If alcaraz was born 15 years earlier it would've been the big 4
Michael Ymer could have benefited from a sports psychologist for sure.

Now the psych needs to help him ignore tedious ball bouncing, extended bathroom breaks, and other devious tactics
😅 or is that all part of the mind games?
Works for Novak

I see your point. I guess the choice of phrasing was off, perhaps more ‘burst onto the scene’ in terms of playing so well on the pro tour so quickly.
Yeh but where are those other Nadal graduates 😂? He's different

You're obviously young. His rise was not "unparalleled". Becker had won Wimbledon twice by the age of 18.
Can anyone stop Alcaraz from dominating men's tennis over the next decade? 🤔
definitely not he’s a different breed already
no, he is too strong and too fast for everyone!
The covid vax will stop him
Oh he's not dominating..
Borg and wilander had won 2 slams at an earlier age...
Youre assuming he will 12 slams in next 5 years
@@abeguy7981 a decade is 10yrs though 😅 and I'm not saying he's dominating now. I'm asking if he will dominate over that time period
All cool but that comment "real goat" like don't disrespect bro
how’s that disrespectful? All I said is that if he keeps building his mentality then he may have a “chance”
no
Yes
What does this commentator mean by the term “ becoming the true tennis GOAT”. Very funny.
I’m a professional comedian, couldn’t you tell?
