In my opinion, it’s safest to use a water pump with a metal impeller. Just NEVER let the water pump bearing go bad. IE remove your serpentine belt and check the WP for bearing wear. Thoughts?
I think that's what happened to my engine, the one you have, don't remember it getting too hot but the low coolant light came on and when I checked it I found intermix

All you have to do is change you water pump every 4-5 years to keep it fresh. Easy.
