It was an epic game and as a Leinster fan, congratulations to Ulster. Cooney was as cool as a cucumber with that kick at the end. Jacob Stockdale was on fire and should be in the frame for Ireland. He's really come back to form. What is incredible, It looks like Munster will top the table. They won't even need a bonus point. I think, we may be looking at back to back URC championships for Munster.
Oh sheesh don’t say that. Munster are an ignorant bastard of a team, they’ll win because you tell them they shouldn’t, but don’t bet depend on them as favourites.

Great day for Munster. Been a while since we had a big knockout game in Thomond. Cooney is a rugby nerd, he studies NFL kickers, probabalities, all sorts. Fancied him to nail that.

On the leinster supporters bus heading back to Dublin. Ulster deserved that win and not surprised. Scrappy match overall ll I thought. Leinster looked like a team who had little game time together but dont want to take anything away from Ulster. There was great banter in the stands and the Ulster fans were brilliant tonight. We move on.

Since Ulster beat most of our first team starters a few months back at home, I thought it would be a tough ask tonight, but they gave them a good battle. Well done Ulster.

I figured Leinster would lose as soon as the team was announced. Cullen making the same mistakes every year and somehow keeps his job. Gibson park, Lowe and Dan Sheehan all should have started this game. Neither of these three featured last week so now they'll have gone three weeks without a game. Put on ice while the season turns to shit. Hope we win next week or we'll have thrown away a home semi + home final for nothing.🤦🏻
Gibbo and Sheenan were on the bench last week. It is just Lowe and McCarthy that have been fully rested. But that team selection was too weak for this contest.
Hi Mark! Very long time no see - I kinda stopped watching UA-cam for a while. I had the pleasure of going to this match, and I gotta say it aged me by about a decade! I’m so thrilled and my voice still hasn’t recovered (probably shouldn’t be answering too many phone calls in work tomorrow 😅) We really, really needed that win, and I was honestly petrified every time Leinster got the ball. I’m also so glad we didn’t seem to pick up any injuries- we’ve more than enough on that front but that’s the joys of rugby. I got tickets to the Munster match as an early birthday present for myself so I’ll have a bit of a road trip down ❤ My dad enjoyed the match too despite being treated like a human stress ball for the whole 80 minutes. I couldn’t even bring myself to watch the winning kick 😅
Best thing was the desire being back.
Good to make the payoffs/champions cup.
We still lack quality in many positions, but desire should always be there as a minimum, probably an away trip to bulls or munster in the quarters (punchers chance then)
Absolutely amazing game. I went filled with trepidation - there's no way we can do the double over the old enemy given the season we're having, there's been an uptick in form and morale since Richie arrived, but surely it won't be enough - but Ulster were absolutely up for it. Three tries that weren't, and you start feeling like his isn't your day. The crowd were really behind the team, but it's starting to look like Leinster have worn us down and it's only a matter of time. Then Stockdale's intercept try and it's back within a point, and we're starting to believe again. And finally, Cooney's penalty, that looked like it would have gone over from another 20 metres! Best bit about it - there was a guy with a very loud voice behind us on the terrace, who spent all 80 minutes moaning about how crap Ulster were and how none of the players cared enough or were good enough and we were basically doomed. Until Cooney's penalty went over, and the terrace was dancing and we didn't hear another peep out of him.
Just opining as a Leinster fan, there were a couple of positives to take from this game - both James Ryan & Hugo Keenan got some valuable game minutes under their belts. That being said, credit to Ulster for never quitting. They deserved the win. Both head coaches have a litany of issues to address in the off-season, primarily on-field leadership. Both teams were guilty of 'white line fever' on multiple occasions with players taking the wrong option and either being held up over the line or, forcing passes that resulted in turnovers. I know there were a number of relatively inexperienced players on both sides putting in plenty of effort but without direction.
Leinster have a real problem heading into the Toulouse game - Harry Byrne was invisible at crucial moments in Belfast today. With a question mark hanging over Ciaran Frawleys health, that performance today was the last thing that Leo & Jacques wanted to see from the #10 jersey.
Well Done Ulster it was a superb game and deserved this win, The atmosphere at the Kingspan was incredible SUFTUM. Good luck to Leinster next week
Was a very close and exciting match indeed! I enjoyed it tremendously!
More important (for me as a Lions fan) was my team's magnificent pouncing of Glasgow (by 44-21). With that they need only one point from their game against the Stormers in the last round to get into the top 8 (on condition that neither Edinburgh nor Benetton lose with a bonus point in their last round clash).

Well done, Ulster. Currently, top of the interpro /Irish Shield and deservedly so for a team that beats Leinster home and away. Munster fan here. Thank you to Ulster for putting us top of the table! Not counting chickens as the top of the table has never won the urc. Also, we are bottom of the Irish Shield. In the pro12, we would not be playing Champions Cup rugby next year as the Welsh would have two spots. (One if Sharks win Challenge cup). In the interest of Irish Rugby, Munster and Ulster should play out a high scoring draw with both teams getting 3 points. Leinster win the Champions cup next week. ( Go Leinster!!!). They then lose badly to Connacht (5 points) as they go on the piss for the week. Net result: Mun v Con, Glasgow v Ulster (no trip to SA). Lein v Stormers. Bulls v Benethon/Edin. If Leinster sober up and beat the Stormers, it's an all Irish Semi. Tricky path to the final for Ulster, but Munster did it last year. If Ulster got to the final, at least it would be in Ireland if the rest of my fantasy plays out. This is a supporters wishes. The players will be professional. Best of luck to all the teams in the URC for the rest of the season.

Leinster badly miss Lancaster in attack. Goodman getting promoted to the Irish attack coach is like the bar worker who can’t even pull a half decent pint being promoted to bar manager
I would agree for the most part about the Leinster attack missing Stuart Lancaster but, the squad is obviously trying to adapt to the Nienaber defensive plan and it is clearly struggling for consistency on attack. JN clearly (imo) wants to play a counter-attacking game off strong defense. Lancaster coached the team to attack first.
Leinster could wind up having to travel to South Africa if they make the semi final. Bulls likely to take #2 and Leinster #3 if they both win as expected in round 18. They would be better off taking #4 for a semi final in Ireland away to Munster if Musnter take #1. It would still be a really tough game but not so much travel.
I thought Leinster were really stupid and a bit arrogant in not taking the shot at goal right near the sticks. Ulster would have needed a try. Not very good game management with not much time left.
Leinster got out of their half twice first 30 mins but somehow where leading, I know as I was at the Ulster end and didn't see any play close up for most of the first half. It was all in the Leinster 22, they could easily have been 21 points down in that period, Ulster were on fire.
Cooney should play for Ireland instead of Murray.
Wow talk about drama, we seemed to have salvaged something from this turbulent season. Although we almost cost ourselves the win by not taking all of our opportunities, and why Will Addison didn’t pass when there was a clear overlap must’ve been white-line fever. Can’t be making errors like that if we make the playoffs.

As s Munster fan obviously excited but man there were so many grest performances from Ulster, really didn't deserve a loss today. Glad to see Murphy get the contract should be an interesting rebuild ahead. Harry Byrne had a shocker today.

@@TwoCentsRugbyAgreed surprised Prendergast isn't getting a look in, he was so impressive as in the u20s but they gave him about 6 minutes to make an impact in a game that was all Ulster momentum.

On a positive note for Leinster. James Ryan and Hugo Kennan both played 80 minutes and didn't get injured. Barring Ringrose we should be full strength against Toulouse and all players have had game time over the last two weeks.

On the balance of the full 80, Ulster absolutely deserved that result. Both teams got turniver instant scores, but Ulster really had more total territory in the opp22, and were much the better sidd in the first half. We didnt createmuch with our second half edge, one lumbering pick snd go try isn't enough.
1st thing, well done, ulster. 2nd thing in the 68th min penalty, why not take the 3 inside of going down the tuchline all the time, take points either way should be the way to go.
Congrats Ulster on making playoffs, now you don't need to upset Munster next week-we'd like to finish top of the table, just for fun before the knockout lottery :)

But as you can see, Leinster are on the backfoot big time, because after spending so long at the top, they are now 3rd, so if the season finishes this way, they won't get a home semi-final. The second fiddle Leinster team seem to lose left right and centre. Many of us saw this coming, why didn’t Cullen ? Most of the 1st team should have played, got it wrapped up and then key players substituted. Looked what happened against Northampton. Rust set in and nearly lost that one. Too much rest is dangerous. Although a Leinster supporter I see Toulouse winning all because of poor strategy.

This was the 12th leg of my parlay today and to lose it that late kills.
That Leinster B team is brutally bad.
But that team selection was too weak, 2 maybe 3 EC starters and both of those starters are the lads coming back from injury. 5/6 of our EC started last night with most of them would be worrying if they started next week for blood pressure. Two injuries in backline expensive for the depth selected.
Foley should be ahead of McGrath to back up Gibbo now, and Ryan and Hugo are back which is huge.
@Two Cents Rugby I warned you, like many others, that Leinster's arrogance would shine through, and it's no longer just from their fanbase, it's now from their coach Cullen. By failing AGAIN to consider this game a priority to field his strongest team, they have now lost the opportunity to get a home semi-final, as they are now 4th, and would do so if it stays the exact same way after the final round. And just imagine if they end up losing the Cup final, and end up getting knocked out again in the playoffs. That will be the ULTIMATE price they will have paid for that arrogance. Not taking these crucial games seriously.

Yea, Leinster have more depth than probably any other team in Europe. It helps put them into the most commanding positions in knockout rugby in the latter half of the season. First team v first team they do often get bested. Leinster fans shouldn’t confuse being beaten by a better team on the night with their team having an automatic right to the win and choking.
