And to this day he still spits like it’s the 90’s. Without him there would be no Ghostface, Rea, Cormega, Nas, Mobb Deep, Pun ect... The GOAT!!
Bruh...This man changed the art of rap...he is the Godfather of multi-syllabic complex schemes...true pioneer
There’s no truth in your statement at all
he definitely is a gem I've been listening to him non stop all week long so you're right Corey men at work I ran that track 3 times in a row .

Black Thought broke down Road to the Riches on a dope level. He went inside the rhyme. It's an incredible true tale. I love that song.
Road to the riches and that Billy Joel sample. I love both songs. Billy Joel is nyc as well.
Glad somebody else noticed that besides me...
He spit a G Rap style while giving props to G Rap's style.
WhiteyMcWhiteWhite I agree 100 percent
Indeed Black Thought did his thang , G Rap was my favorite
I thought that was g rap on that shit when i first heard it..black thought so ill and underated as well
"Blood shed, I painted the town red, people fled as I put a dread head to bed, that mean's dead. In other words deceased, faces got erased, when bullets got released." Kool G
"Many necks I choked, many legs I broke, and if provoked, I let the pistol smoke." Kool G
G Rap can paint vivid pictures like nobody's biz.
No one does it better…
His ability to put words together is unmatched.... Verses like, "I leave your whole body twisted/ when you get lifted/and police would have to fish to run ballistic on the biscuit/another statistic/ I try to chill but you insisted/ coming up in my district/ I don't know why you fucking risk it...whew...

G-Rap is the most impressive lyricist I've ever heard . That rhyming upon rhyming style where almost every word was a rhyme was amazing . He inspired rappers like Big Pun who just took his style and with it.
Henny Lopez yo check out percee P. He inspired big pun too. Hes a lesser known member of DITC, he came up with lord finesse n fat joe bronx late 80s shit.
He raps in that mind blowing rhyme after rhyme style but wheres kool G states his words more solid, percee P really breaks down the syllables, 2 of the greats man check him out sometime anything he ever made is dope. He inspired big L

To this day. Kool G Rap still raps better than 98% of rappers! Arguably the G.O.A.T. in terms of pure lyricism.

Better than 99.7% of the rappers out there
Umm..there was a cat named Big L that surely gave him a run. Facts.
@@hyperdog67 i feel Big L used the rhyme schemes with the same structure...i think his punchlines were a bit more effective than Kool G Rap's and why most people rank L higher...honestly I rock hard with both and was molded by their craft...i feel like Kool G Rap adapted to all era's as far as lyrical ability...but then again thats all i care about...KRS ONE said "mc's are just hopeless, thinking record sales make them the dopest" he dropped a lot of shit on "Rapture's Delight"...Big L said himself on "I Don't Understand It" "Going platinum, and aint got no soul, Some rappers is mad nice, and dont even go gold, i don't like the way it's going down, because it should be the other way around, I dont understand it"...Bars over everything

G rap is the greatest lyricist of all time!!! Lyrically the most influential. You can hear him in all the great lyricist from 1990 till now. And he still has momentum till this day!!!!
Nice piece....well stated and narrated! Kool G should NEVER be left out when discussing the all time greats. Kool G will dust the majority of emcees past and present. Peace!
Facs 👌🏾💪🏾
Kool wasn’t just a lyrical genius, he was a pioneer. He was one of the first rappers to show his human side of things in his music. Most rappers acted like Goliath and they were untouchable, yet Road to Riches showed himself as a man with a plan. I also liked how Money in the Bank was like a continuation of Road to Riches. Best Hip Hop song ever is Erase Racism by him, Big Daddy, And Biz.
I'm Fly and It's a Demo, I was sold from day one!! G Rap's in my top 5!
Kool G Rap the LYRICAL DICTATOR.
@VHS FACTION 💯💯
Made me go back and listen to "Men At Work" seven times in a row, starting the eight time now, lol... it's damn near the greatest rap song featuring pure lyrical fury I've ever heard...
Definitely!
@Michael Hunter he said "damn near". Its all opinions....
@Michael Hunter lol
yeah, "damn near" is the operative descriptor ... btw, I love "Lyrics Of Fury" (it's perfection on wax), but I like "Follow The Leader", "No Competition", "Untouchable", and "No Omega" even more....
rbiznezz2 I'm bout to go back and listen to its a demo.
kane said it best, "we taught cats, how to rhyme"
Hands down. G was and is still one of the greatest to ever do it!!! The epitome of that NYC Queens real fly hood shit....”I make blood Mary’s out o’ ya capillaries.”
G-Rap is a LEGEND
I know you couldn’t mention every joint, but “Executioner Style” is G Rap at his finest ✊🏽
G Rap is one of the greats to be studied. When Jay-Z said "Yeah hearing me rap is like hearing G Rap in his prime" that let's you know he's on that level. I mean if the great Jay-Z studied him then you probably should too
Exactly
But Jay Z is a LIAR. He was NEVER like G-Rap or G-Rap"s equal.
Lol@@abduljalil7623😅😅😅 absolutely 🎯 💯!
Kool G Rap was my favorite MC back in the days. How he told a story was like no other, Biggie took a lot of lessons from G Rap.
Don't forget about that opening to Fast Life. Best opening bars ever.
He (along with Rakim & BDK) set a trend of internal & multi-syllabic rhymes in the rap game, that would last long forever

Yesuuur the funny thing is on Live and Let Die G Rap was the first East Coast Emcee, to have a West Coast Producer do his entire Album. The interesting thing is Two to the Head he had two Southern Emcees Scarface and Bushwick Bill and a West Coast Emcee Ice Cube on the song so he went Southpaw before Jadakiss lol.
Odell Goodman-EL My Main Dude Sir Jinx!!!!! I just noticed on Marley Marl’s Symphony pt2., G.Rap was Rhyming on the Video with Da Lenchmob Coat. I’m like ok That Would Make Sense.......
Kool G Rap is the original street thug poet from Super Sha "L"

no ghostwriter.. he got album credits for that song..
"Here the plan, Shannon you bring the van everybody's wearing gloves on their hands/

"When G Rap strikes the mic, I recite the type of hype that you like and make the people unite"...
One of the first guys I've heard with a continuous flow, while others sounded really old school. I'm Fly 1984
G Rap made the template for pure lyricism. I became a serious Kool G. Rap fan when I heard and understood "Men At Work." What he did lyrically on that track was sublime.

Thank You fam,
Ps I was born in 1983 and I recall his songs "Ill Street Blues," and "On The Run,". I knew he was a different MC. 4,5,6 was the first G Rap album I heard and that album just reaffirmed my initial estimate.
Pps he said "hoping you got springs or wings on your shoes,
cause you lose" ....
G-Rap, what can I say? Other than I have him over Kane easy. Not taking nothing away from Kane but we going to be real today. I’ve sat back long enough hearing some people not giving G rap his propers on these lists. We’re getting it right today. I’m 48 and G rap, Kane and Rakim a year older than me. My point is in 86 when G came out with Rhyme time, his lyrics were flawless. He grabbed my attention the same way LL Cool J did in 84 with big words. Nobody was rhyming like that. Let me get back to my point between Kane and G Rap, on Kane first two albums he had like 5 good joints on each of those two albums to me. After those first two albums he was Finished, through, done. Why? because he wanted to be a damn chocolate Dracula lol. That’s what ultimately did him in. I know that whole back story about him changing up was because Bobby Brown and all them were touring heavy together back then. Anyway G Rap kept pushing and turning out album after album. G Rap catalogs are extensive and fire period. Kane and Rakim still in my top three though. G rap that dude is what I’m saying. No disrespect to anyone else for their opinion. I’m just very passionate about my era of Hip Hop 80s and 90s that’s it
Facts bro...thats my era of rap/hi hop....G Rap, the most underrated lyricist of all time...only true hip hop heads know whats up with G...he still spitting fire til this day!

G rap one of my all-time faves. No question!
Mine as well
Arguably the GOAT. His lyrical style lasted longer than his peers. Rakim, Kane, Cool J, KRS became dated after a decade and 3 albums in. G Rap can still blaze mixtapes today. 30 years later.
Hold up some of that new (like 2012) KRS one shit is dope bro. I agree G rap the most timeless of the 4 fathers.
And rakim still got it, its just once youve been crowned as the god of hip hop like rakim its hard to pick up the pen and consistently live up to those expectations, someone else writes some lyrics n people say its dope, rakim write the same lyrics and people gonna say come on ra you can do better than that

Peace Power & Positivity fam. Once again you shined light on one of the GREATS, and I applaud you for that. Now, the only complaint I have on this episode is, you didn't mention the influence G-Rap had on early hip-hop that birthed the 2nd coming of the golden age. People like Nas, Big Pun, Black Thought, Royal Flush, & Prodigy (Mobb Deep). Although, G-Rap never gets the proper accolades, his impact is felt on the generation of emcees that he cultivated. Nevertheless, keep on doing your thing, hip-hop needs these lessons.

One thing G-Rap doesn't get credit for is how well he illustrated street life without always glamorizing it. Growing up on a steady diet of G-Rap kept me out the streets. He let me know it wasn't what I wanted in my life. For me it was G-Rap, Slick Rick then Kane.
Top 5 imo
Thank you for the edification, sir. Appreciate your time and effort. G Rap definitely doesn't get brought up enough. Multi-syllabic pioneer.
