Kool G Rap on His First Album Getting Protested by the Gay Community
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 вер 2024
- New York rap giant Kool G Rap here talks about the backlash his first album provoked, getting on Marley Marl's, "The Symphony," his "quiet rivalry" with Big Daddy Kane, and the impact of Rakim on the hip hop landscape. Watch above.
This cat is so underrated its not even funny. His name RARELY gets mentioned in GOAT conversations.
really? I always hear him mentioned...unless is some newbie who puts 2pac at number 1
Shiiiiiiiiiid Maybe yours. He is my GOAT
he dont really got critically acclaimed “classic” albums, like most goats, thats why when people rank overall stats he doesnt come up mych, but talking straight lyrical ability and skill thats a whole nother convo, top 10
G Rap is on everybodys list here in nyc, real hiphop fans recognize that. The dudes you talking about are those people who just know about the mainstream culture and mention Pac Big and Em constantly. They have no clue how many rappers are or were around who were better.
"For anyone who could understand this, Rakim is to hip hop what Charlie Parker is to jazz. He didn't start it, but he absolutely revolutionized it and set the bar for every MC/musician's skills and technique afterwards."
Respect ✊🏿
In no order it's rakim (the god), kane (the player), krs (the teacher), g rap (the gangster), chuck d (the revolutionary general). top 5. FACTS. after that it's opinion.
tochiRTA slick rick definitely took story telling to new levels but his 2nd album was kinda weak after that he was incarcerated and never really got back on course. He's up there with the greats but not top 5.
facts tho
Slept on GURU
That's a tour I'd pay to see!
No LL or The D.O.C
this dude is a legend!
@@HectorQuien He's her bd
i guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?
I somehow lost the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Ronin Omari Instablaster ;)
I still got a Road to the Riches cassette in my crate of cassettes from my young music buying days
I still had some of my cassettes up until 2008.
I'm going to have to revisit that crate, I know I got some NY radio recordings Red Alert, Magic and Marley and maybe some Bobbito and Stretch Armstrong.
B Money still have it on vinyl since 89
Post em
His "Talk like sex" is a classic. One of the freakest rap songs of all times.
theres two of them actually
If you're white and the music you like is Rock/ you can come and get some hip hop cock ,consider this dick on your clitoris but dont try to flex and im talk like sex- Kool G Rap
Vlad's historical timeline is way off at times. Embarrassing!!😂😂😂
Right on, brother.
Vlad don't be knowing shit.
Definitely. Not even knowing when the beef happened.
hes 40 and still smokes alot of weed.
It's annoying.
Kool G Rap Wrecked the Symphony. Life Time Achievement.
Marley gives the slice... I get nice.. and my voice is TWICE as horrifying as Vincent PRICE
I love Kool G Rap humbleness but when he came with Wanted Dead or Alive I felt he was the King of New York
My favorite album from Kool G Rap.
@@AmariMarvelous what are his top 5 albums?
@@thebigmonstaandy6644 idk about top 5 albums but my personal favs are Wanted Dead Or Alive,Road To Riches,4,5 6, Roots Of Evil...honorable mentions to Live and Let Die and Giancana Story.
@@AmariMarvelous interesting ,i thought that Live and Let DIe,Roots of Evil and 4,5,6 are his best works
don't sleep on my man Masta Ace!!!! He's definitely up there with Kane and G Rap
All Jokes Inside salute to the legend tho.
Show you real HIPHOP Is Timeless...
All jokes inside of what? 🤔
denali88 hahahaha i was thinking the exact same thing 🤣
Mista Guapito all Jones aside
Kool G Rap was mad nice as a rapper but he's still the person responsible for giving us Superhead...
"It was good in the fact that it got protested by the gay community because I said a line in there...or...I said a couple of lines".
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favorite og in the rap game period. Word play was stupid. I ALWAYS thought Nas sounded like him , even when the world was saying Nas sounded like Ra . And from this interview , one thing you can’t call him is a hater . He gave everyone their props . And his top ten list is the absolute truth .
Kool G Rap just gave the perfect summation on the legendary Rakim Allah.
That Poison joint was cold! G Rap is a legend
Wish today's rap will have more options than what we can pick from today.
KRS One, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane. Best Lyricists and most influential MCs ever
This interview is sooo classic! Dead on!! Dam Vlad! Thank you!
i guess the gays disliked this
Top 5 underrated but greatest rappers ever, G Rap is one of my favorites
Road to Riches my favorite rap song ever. Still sounds good today
G Rap is rarely mentioned in conversations about top 5 MCs but he's easily one of the G.O.A.T.S. If you not familiar listen to Ill Street Blues and Fast Life with Nas.. G Rap is a beast.
Jay Brown only the real cats mentioned G Rap, fake cats.............
Pay attention children...this was a REAL M.C. ...
Even G. Rap had to be honest and say Nas took his style more from Rakim. Rakim mixed that "intelligence" with street smart, and that's what Nas did on his first album. No one wants to give Rakim his proper respect. I'm glad G. Rap was honest about that.
very level headed ... nice change of pace from Lord Jamar ... 😅😅😅
even this I like both interviews ... plus he talkin bars (in my Cassidy voice)
"I'm Fly" is my favorite Kool G Rap joint
The greatest b💯💯💯
facts
"To me, it was the influence of hearing artists when I was younger. To me, they was one step into the future, outside everybody else at the time, and that was Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Silver Fox from Fantasy Three. " Kool G. Rap; Rolling Stone (crrent issue 6/17)
Symphony G Rap's verse was fire!!!!
G Rap is a straight up LEGEND!!!!!
wow,, straight up interview a living hip hop legend
Friendly competition is healthy that's why their music is classic and timeless 👌💯
G rap,Nas, Rakim,Pun,Biggie top 5 lyricist of all time
Well Kool G forgot about Butcher Shop off of the Colors soundtrack
Vlad's grasp of anything pre-88 is limited - and it always shows when he interviews people from that era.
vladimir didn't like the comment about pimping..normally he chimes in with a 'similar' life experience but on that one he was as quiet as a church mouse and quickly moved on..
ivanduvok if you watch closely, there was a cut right after he spoke on it, maybe it'll be show later, you know how Vlad get down.
if any of y'all want some updated dope G Rap music..pick up THE GODFATHERS by Kool G Rap and Necro. It's a masterpiece.
he's playing Dublin soon I need to go
Gays give VD in 3D 😱 ... 🔥🔥🔥
Lol tha song he's talking about is called Truly Yours ... Thats my jam too
I don't know anymore if this channel is on hip hop culture or gay culture. !?
They always hijack black liberation movements by infiltrating it with Jews, Gays and white women.....Meanwhile, Jew, Gays and white women never allow black people to be the main voice of their political activism.
what was poison sampled for? didn't quite catch that.
U probably know by now but bel biv dev devoe sampled kool g on the hook poison
NO KOOL G RAP, NEVER WOULD HAVE BEEN A NAS!!
Nas looked up to G Rap. Kool G helped nas get on. throu Large P. get facts right.
Word, Russel Simmons didn't sign Nas because he said he sounded like a Kool G Rap clone
LIKE I SAID HOMEY, IF THERE WAS NO KOOL G RAP, THEIR WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A NAS! PERIOD! SO WHAT FACTS ARE YOU REFERRING TO.. MAKE SOME SENSE YOU JUST SAID YOURSELF : Nas looked up to G Rap. Kool G helped nas get on... IT WAS G'S EFFORTS..
Eric Curtis Raekwon too
Youngin, I'm talking about when Nas was first shopping for a recording contract. We all know how he wound up at Def Jam after the Jay Z beef and Jay at that time the head of Def Jam.
How Vlad gonna gloss over that pimping comment?
Exactly.
But zeroed in on the gay matter?? p a u s e.
Wandah Wisdom 🤣😂🤣
half of this world gay just imagine if u came out now
Still got the 12” single. Road to the Riches & Truly Yours.
Where can one find the full interview ?
On the same channel
Kool G may have a slight edge over Rakim...??
Mr.T i would say that G Rap overall was the better emcee. His metaphors, punchlines, multis and storytelling were on another level. And his beat selection is fire
Afro Shinobi Agreed
He 's correct about Rakim. He set the standard on move the crowd. Nice..........
I hope kool g rap and superhead link up again.
legendary status
Raw (Remix) is timeless. Kane and G Rap in their prime. G Rap set the bar so high on that joint.
If you dont have Kool G in your top 5 you wack😁
Still my favorite M.C.
the legend himself kool g rap
KOOL G Rap look like a crazy old man sitting on a porch in the Deep South.

Some people talk about his teeth and stupid stuff but Kool G Rap was one of the best to touch a mic. I wish he would have taken better physical care of himself.
ty Vlad for showing a REAL rapper.....Kool g rap a Fkin godly legend lyrcist.....this man couldn't ghost write for rappers today cuz they to trash to spit what his pen can dish out
G Rap is one of my favorites of all time. Better than Rakim. Better than Nas. Shouts to G Rap from Atown. Kane is too.

1.) Krs-1
2.) Rakim
3.) G-Rap
4.) Reggie Noble
5.) Jigga
6.) Pun
7.) Nas
8.) Meth
9.) Face
10.) Tupac
2:40 gays are so soft for this lmaoo
Shout out to KDAY! REAL L.A. Hip Hop station. Still going strong. Fuck Power 106 and Real 92.3 for constantly playing the same shit over and over.
For sure him and Kane killed it on the Symphony 1 and 2.
Mucho respect for the OG!!
Kool looks like Red Fox here which is fucking awesome.
G You ate him in that "RAW" freestyle!
This video ends too soon
Este tipo desprende realidad por todos sus poros sin cadenas ni oros. Para mi el numero 1 junto a 2pac
@1:19 Isn't it kinda shocking when a community that you'd never expect to listen to a certain genre of music...turns out, they do? Or did?
That's not shocking at all.
It’s a setup!
I bet the next interview will be about the fast life joint then Vlad is going to talk about nas being the worst beat picker.
if anyone isn't sure of exact years of record releases there's Wikipedia
So i guess this is why Road to Riches isnt available on Google Play?
Right. I hope Traffic put it out then.
Truly yours was a classic it wasn’t anti gay he was just telling a story about a girl that he hated. Her man just was a rumored homosexual and he was just airing out the truth about him.
second verse of truly yours he roast a gay dude
I don’t know why he never gets credit for his song “Erase Racism”??? #classic #waybeforeitstime
Rakim Arm-Leg-Leg-Arm-Head...!!!!!
G rap was a real life pimp too? Damn that's real shit
You know... after listening to the Joe Budden podcasts with Cthagod I'm a have to unsubscribe from Vlad. I suggest you all do the same. It's the right thing to do.
didn't even know g rap was the voice on poison
vlad, once again drop the whole interview...please
Listen to the Master in his own words: www.rollingstone.com/music/features/kool-g-rap-on-the-technical-flow-that-influenced-generations-w484254
Kool G in my top 5.
Vlad's detective ass skimmed over the pimping part? WTF
That's dope; the "You Must Learn" reference. #NYMCees
Would love to see KRS on vlad
Check out Money Makers FT. KOOL G Rap and Opera Steve (throwback)
1580 kday greatest radio station that played hip hop. Cali won again yell
Spirituals, Ragtime, Jazz, Country, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Disco, Punk, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented African American roots coupled with undeniable Black American influence---whether directly or indirectly..
Latinos -- Puerto Ricans particularly -- please explain how you co-created or co-invented yet another installment in the legacy of Black Musical expression known as Rap and Hip Hop, yet didn't co-create or co-invent any of the elements or ingredients of the 14 or so African American music forms that preceeded it? Or why you were nowhere to be found and absent during the creative and inventive foundation outlining the forms of African American musical expression, brilliance and greatness throughout, or even prior to the previous 14 or so African American music forms that are mentioned above? Yet then, all of a sudden--and out of nowhere, lying latinos and jamaicans slither along and falsely claim latinos and/or puerto ricans and jamaicans co-created and co-invented Rap and Hip Hop 50/50 half n half (which is the evidence-free and utter nonsense being peddled by Dr. Derrick Colon, radical latino, Fat Joe and numerous other un-informed and envious latinos---which are claims that latinos never mentioned, verbalized or asserted during its inception in the early 1970's)---latinos claims of "50/50--half & half co-creation and co-invention just don't add up---it makes no sense and are increasingly coming under heavy scrutiny which is leading to these claims being easily debunked--widespread. Nice try though latinos, puerto ricans and jamaicans.
Make it make sense Latinos.
G Rap said he made the right decision then vlad repeated him.🤣🤣🤣
This isnt freedom at all ppl.
Lmbo it's funny it seems like gay people were really checking for Kool G Rap.
Why not the whole video instead of segments. That shit is childish.
Root beer and Maple Bacon Pop tarts are vegan.
he aint lying about KDAY.
Anyone who knows their Ol Skool hip hop knows that 1580 KDAY was where all the rap records were played. Salute to KDAY! 👊
Legend!
