Don’t forget tom morello from rage against the machine too. Trash bag brown sucks. Thank God social media platforms pull the plug on his racist posts. I guess he wasn’t as headstrong (pun intended) as he thought he was.
I actually used to listen to Trapt...in 2018 and 2019 actually. So I have fond memories with songs like Echo, These Walls and Still Frame. Weird how the singer lost his mind this year and the band are now infamous. Even if this never happened, they're just be known as D tier post grunge Diet Papa Roach anyway.
I mean stylistically they're almost indistinguishable from Papa Roach, minus the rapping, Headstrong is basically Last Resort for the first section of the song
Trapt is an "early 00s stock hard rock band" the same way Train is a stock pop rock band. These bands are so devoid of ANY personality that they seem more like some textbook description of a band than an actual band.
Do I Remember the Band Trapt? Every day when I got home from high school, I'd listen to Pandora while doing my homework. Every time this came on I'd skip it, based on the opening riff alone. Little did I know
Add them to your Pandora account's block list. They still get credit for a play even if you skip the song. And Trapt *really* likes to brag about their Pandora plays lol
According to their Wikipedia page, Trapt has almost as many former members as they do albums released. When encountering any band and learning that about them, it's usually a sign that one or two of them have never looked at their reflection and thought, "maybe it's me."
Simon Ormandy, Aaron Montgomery and Robb Torres were the best members. They all played on Trapt's best albums between 2002-2011. After they all left, the songwriting quality took a sharp nosedive.
The comments section for the official Headstrong video here on YT has a similar comment, and most of the replies are from people actually named Kyle who want nothing to do with that PoS
Here's my story about trapt. I got a opportunity to meet them during the make America rock again tour with scott stapp. I met scott before the show started and hes honestly one of the nicest musicians I've ever met. After the show ended I went to hang out with trapt and chris literally got a rental car after the set and left. All other bands would hang out at the merch tables and meet fans. I got the feeling chris really doesnt care about fans and its about the money. Trapt band mates at time are really nice guys and down to earth. I hung out with them on the tour bus for about 4 hours talking about all kinds of stuff.
Trapt 2002: Headstrong, willing to take on anyone Trapt 2020: new album sells 600 copies, their Twitter gets deleted for hate speech. 🎶This is right where they belong🎶
I noticed a long time ago that the chorus riff from “Headstrong” by Trapt is very similar to the chorus riff from the song “Do You Call My Name” by Ra only done in a funkier style. The irony of this that both singles were released within five months of each other in 2002 and early 2003!
7:33 You could actually say the same thing about Phil Collins. "In the Air Tonight" was the first song on his solo debut album. However, that's where the comparison ends because unlike "Headstrong", "In the Air Tonight" is a very good song, and Phil Collins was a lot more successful than Trapt will ever be.
Phil is also a very good drummer, so he has musical talent, even if you don’t love his music, its still not bad and Mike Tyson killed imitating the drum solo before slugging the guy in That movie
Did anyone else get Trapt music videos in their reccomended after watching this? I've seen every RTP and that's never happened with an artist before lmao.
Trapt finally had their Twitter account suspended due to comments about pedophila that CTB made, where "it is impossible for a 15 year old male student to get raped by a 25 year old female teacher." Let's see if he doesn't eventually share the same fate as Ian Watkins from Lostprophets.
@@NexusKin sure thing but still they were able to make better hit songs based on this typical radio formula. even though I hate Rollin and How you remind me I would rather listen to these songs than to headstrong
Nickelback and Limp Bizkit are at least cultural icons and are somewhat relevant. Nickelback were trending on Twitter when they released Devil Went Down to Georgia this year (2020) and Fred Durst was in a Carmax commercial in 2020. Trapt is a joke.
I first heard this song when I was in college (2002-2003) and it was today when I found out he was actually saying, "Back off, I'll take you on!" For the longest time, I thought he was saying, "Back off, I think you won!" I am the king of misheard lyrics.
I own this CD. Think I paid $2 for it as kind of a nostalgia buy. I have a lot of horrible music in my collection that never really gets listened too. It's kinda there just to say "remember when this was somehow a thing!?"
Okay, I can't believe I need to do this. I'm going to defend the triforce of suckage... All three of those bands suck, but it's not because they're musically incompetent. Limp Bizkit's guitarist was great, and Durst, like him or hate him, was a good front man. Like, would they have been anything without him? The dude brought in a crowd and had charisma. I have a billion reasons to hate Nickleback, but at least they're musically competent when they try. They have plenty of good parts, it's just the Kroeger is an awful, awful person. And they manage to churn out hit after boring hit, which Trapt never managed. Creed, again, the musicians behind the front man were actually legit good. Which is why they moved on to better shit. Trapt did not. Brown still argues about how popular they are because of their one hit. He'll probably show up in here to brag about their Pandora plays soon. You know, the site where the majority of users don't get to pick what they listen to and they punish you for skipping bad songs. If those bands are the triforce of suckage, that's still too good for Trapt.

Methods Of Mayhem’s self titled is especially deserving of regretting. It’s not the worst thing ever but it has Regretting The Past written all over it
That Headstrong song sounds like the song equivalent of going "GRRRRRR, I'M A TUFFY!!!" for almost 5 minutes. With special guest verse by Scrappy Doo going "Lemme At 'Em, Lemme At 'Em!"
When I made my video analyzing CTB's dumbassery back in March, I had a fan tell me they wouldn't be surprised if it would serve as inspiration for you to create a Regretting the Past on them. So I was pretty excited to catch this one. That said, I do think Trapt are an ok band. I don't think they're terrible musically. I'm someone that generally digs the post-grunge/alternative metal sound, but I've never exactly found them to be breathtaking. I can separate the art from the artist fine, but CTB desperately needs to shut up. People like him are why people hate it when musicians talk politics. And I say this as someone who identifies as center-left/libertarian who doesn't take issue with someone being conservative on its own. So yeah, this video definitely exceeded my expectations.
Michelle Trachtenberg was in the video for Echo and that woman is talented, I say this because she had to pretend to be in love with Trashbag. That woman deserves a fricking Oscar
Didn't expect to see ARTV and the Rock Critic! This is one of my favorite UA-cam crossovers ever. Great and informative video. Always hated Trapt and knew about a bunch of the stuff that happened on Twitter a few years back but didn't know about all of the proud boys stuff. Crazy shit
My ranking of the “Butt-Rock Starter Pack” Bands (17:22) 10. FFDP: Ivan Moody voice is ear grating. Their motto: “BUTT ROCK AMERICA” (probably). Extremely generic, hard enough to draw in some metal fans, but not hard enough to hurt its commercial viability. Result: Ear Grating 9. Hinder: Extremely boring. Austin Winkler is raspy to the point where a raspberry can sing better than him 8. Buckcherry: The dirtiest butt in butt rock, at least they have a funk vibe? Mostly dull, but at least there is energy. 7. Theory (Of A Deadman): Their early stuff (self-titled & Gasoline) is not bad, but everything after that is really bad. 6. Puddle of Mudd: I don’t hate them, but I don’t love them. I really enjoy most of the Come Clean singles, but there’s a good amount of boring tracks too. 5. 3 Doors Down: Kinda the pioneers of butt rock. Their music doesn’t do any harm, and a few of their singles are good. 4. Staind: A good band with good control of their instruments. Their music jams the most out of all these bands (Break The Cycle rocks) but they can be overdramatic (14 Shades of Lame). Not talking about his politics. 3. Daughtry: The singles are good, and they are definitely the least controversial band, as well the least hated. 2. Nickelback: Yes, they aren’t “Rockstars”, but their early stuff is really good, and every album seems to have at least a few good tracks. Even if there are some really stinky tracks. 1. Creed: Their first album is good. Even in their worst early era album, “Weathered”, there are some great tracks. Even “Full Circle”, their reunion album where Scott Stapp sounded much worse than before, had a few good songs. They have a lot of songs with high energy, and the band is solid. I think “With Arms Wide Open” would get more love if Scott Stapp didn’t sing like “WID ARMS WERDE OPON”. Also, SEX!
in all fairness Nickleback isn't that bad. yea i've heard worse. i hear they want to go into a more heavy sound. if they can do what they did with Devil went down to georgia with that album. then i think people would like it
@@OfficialAzyria Chad is kind of a scumbag, but you're right, their music isn't the worst if you listen to the heavier stuff. Photograph and Rock Star are just so terrible
I still confuse this band with Saliva. Both bands still occasionally get songs as event themes for wrestling pay-per-views, which says a lot about what WWE thinks their audience's taste is.
@@GNVS300 They’ve been hit and miss with PPV themes recently. Raw has had Shinedown, Skillet & Papa Roach for themes before the NF one. Thought those weren’t bad. SD! had in house themes before the Are You Ready? AC/DC theme. NXT’s has All Out Life since last year I believe(?). Just recently, Survivor Series had an AC/DC theme and the next TakeOver’s going to have War Pigs as a theme.
Headstrong reminds me of the person in the bar who has drank too much, is mad at a someone they think laughed at them, and you are just trying to get them home.
Honestly, I had no idea Trapt even existed until articles about the lead singer's Twitter meltdown appeared in my Google news feed earlier this year lol
I stopped being a fan of Trapt after 2010's "No Apologies," which was their last truly good album in my opinion. It sucks that CTB decided to randomly go on all these social media rants for no reason at all and ruin the band's entire reputation.
@@TheCamSays Maybe Greta Thunberg said something he disagreed with? Or did he realise just how many Swedish bands are more popular on Pandora than Trapt?

Great point, man. How the hell does Trapt keep popping up? Working from home, I'm streaming a lot of Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, even just UA-cam but no matter the (rock or metal) artist I start with, "Headstrong" always comes on, which I was very sick of in 2003. In 2020, it's maddening.

I just realized, Trapt’s social media presence is just the far right version of Senses Fail’s (with a dose of Ronnie Radke for bad measure), the differences are that Chris is somehow even more insufferable than Buddy (I mean come on, I May disagree with both of their radical political beliefs a pretty heavy amount, but at least Buddy never said that men can’t be victims of assault) yet even more entertaining at the same time and that since Chris built his entire music career on faux tough guy posturing, you really can’t separate the art from artist, you actually can with Senses Fail, since barely any of Buddy’s social media personality is present in their music (Not To mention that the majority of SF’s music slaps while Trapt just exists) ironically enough those 2 actually got in a Twitter feud a couple weeks ago, because of course they did
Ok I’m trying to figure out who you are because I’m subscribed to you but I don’t remember seeing your name or profile picture anywhere before a couple weeks ago. Have you recently changed them

Headstrong is eternally in my head because during the summer of 2002, I was delivering pizzas, and the only good rock station was playing it heavily in rotation. It was Trapt, Chevelle, and Hot Hot Heat...again and again and again.
This show is called: Trapt In the Closet Starring Chris T. «Trashbag» Brown, who can't go to toilet, 'cause his closet is locked. Instead, he made an adult diaper to cover his pants with the use of a toilet paper
I think it was Craig Ferguson who pointed out the cliche of Americans showing stuffy Brits how to rock. "It's not like we've had The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, The Clash, Sex Pistols, and Oasis come from this country, just to name a few..."
Honestly, I'd never heard Headstrong until this year. We did get plenty of Nu-Metal (the good and the bad) in the UK at that time, but I guess this one didn't survive the trip across the atlantic, so it's hard for me to understand how they ever became famous. At least Limp Bizkit (the closest comparison I can make) were entertaining.

I like Matchbox 20.

Weird how the singer lost his mind this year and the band are now infamous. Even if this never happened, they're just be known as D tier post grunge Diet Papa Roach anyway.
Echo was pretty good.

Trapt is an "early 00s stock hard rock band" the same way Train is a stock pop rock band. These bands are so devoid of ANY personality that they seem more like some textbook description of a band than an actual band.
The music really is just a format/template.

And Trapt *really* likes to brag about their Pandora plays lol
you're so lucky.

I noticed a long time ago that the chorus riff from “Headstrong” by Trapt is very similar to the chorus riff from the song “Do You Call My Name” by Ra only done in a funkier style. The irony of this that both singles were released within five months of each other in 2002 and early 2003!

Limp Bizkit, Creed, and Nickleback: We Are The Triforce of Suckage.
Trapt: Hey Guys, Wanna Make It Quadforce?

My thoughts exactly
Michelle Trachtenberg was in the video for Echo and that woman is talented, I say this because she had to pretend to be in love with Trashbag. That woman deserves a fricking Oscar
Didn't expect to see ARTV and the Rock Critic! This is one of my favorite UA-cam crossovers ever. Great and informative video. Always hated Trapt and knew about a bunch of the stuff that happened on Twitter a few years back but didn't know about all of the proud boys stuff. Crazy shit
My ranking of the “Butt-Rock Starter Pack” Bands (17:22)
10. FFDP: Ivan Moody voice is ear grating. Their motto: “BUTT ROCK AMERICA” (probably). Extremely generic, hard enough to draw in some metal fans, but not hard enough to hurt its commercial viability. Result: Ear Grating
9. Hinder: Extremely boring. Austin Winkler is raspy to the point where a raspberry can sing better than him
Also, SEX!
