  • Mover and I go over the possibility of Iran getting Russian Flanker's. Sorry about the error at about 00:25 seconds in, we have help making these clips and they aren't as good as we are with identifying aircraft.
    Every Monday at 8PM ET, Mover (F-16, F/A-18, T-38, 737, helicopter pilot and wanna be race car driver) and Gonky (F/A-18, T-38, A320, dirt bike racer, and awesome dad) discuss everything from aviation to racing to life and anything in between. This is off topic, but is the HESA F-5 variant comparable to the unproduced F-20 or the upgraded Canadian F-5?
    I know there are sanctions, but did Iran ever attempt to go out to the black market to acquire F-5 boneyard parts or engage in.espionage to get designs to revive a homegrown F-20 type concept, since the tech is really old now?
    Also off topic, but, are you possibly going to do a video about the boneyard planes that Kazakhstan recently sold?

    I guess these are export versions, already built. So it is easier to sell them abroad than converting them (rewiring, re-hardware) to domestic configuration...
    The strategic cooperation and the advertisement value for the export market is more important than keeping these jets at home...often people forget how strong is the "industrial complex lobby" is in Russia...(selling power plants, space tech. rockets...)
    Furthermore Russia gains more economic influence into Iran...(a market that even the EU tried to get into (Airbus sales)) ...no matter what regime comes 30-50 years from now...

    The jets they bought. These are export version jets, which Egypt stopped buying because of US sanctions when it was time to produce and deliver them. Even the Russian army did not want to use these jets, which they produced for the foreign market. They have been lying in hangars for years.

    Iran suddenly got the motivation to upgrade their air force and air defenses as they square off against potential future conflict with Israel... and Russia has every motivation to keep the flow of arms FROM Iran, which is selling them drones among other things... so it's likely this particular deal has a higher than usual chance of following through. Russia won't want to piss off its arms supplier by reneging, and what they're getting isn't cash but arms they need..probably more than these jets. And Iran doesn't need anything else Russia has to offer except technology transfers... they've got plenty of oil and what do they want with Rubles? But they really really need air defenses and new interceptors.

    I just wanted to share some facts with you guys
    1. The Shah of Iran has created the whole Iranian Air Force without him there wouldn't be anything. Everything you see now is because of him and the cool or better say tragic note here is the fact that he created all of these but never lived long enough to see them in action and his government completely collapsed not long after his last F14 purchase and I'm thinking to myself how great that could be if this fate happens to Ali Khamenei as well. I mean he bought the SU 35s but he never lived long enough to see them in action and he and his beloved dictatorship regime collapsed right after the last SU 35 entered service in the Iranian Air Force
    2. You guys are completely accurate on who is the enemy and who is not at 4:40 so good to hear that over and over again
    3. After the 1979 revolution the regime was not all alone with their F14 tomcats because on some occasions US and even Israelites helped them with spare parts and weapons. You just need to check McFarlin for the reference
    4. If you check the history you'll find out that the Soviets and later on the Russians were not good trading partners, especially in arms dealing. They are notorious for selling heavily downgraded equipment to their customers or even their allies. And oh boy they did this to pretty much every single one of their so-called allies in the middle east. From Egyptians to Syrians to Iraqis to Lybians to anyone literally anyone. They are not a trustworthy partner let alone an ally

  • @springbloom5940
    @springbloom5940 Місяць тому

    I would imagine they'll give them the real deal, to test against Israeli F35s. With a good performance they can say look, this is what even Iran can do with them. The same for a batd performance - Iran didn't know what they were ddoing 🤷🏽‍♀️

  • @stupidburp
    @stupidburp Місяць тому +1

    Iran is very good at sourcing parts globally. They demonstrated that with their extensive efforts to keep a significant portion of the F-14s serviceable and even adding some upgrades. I suspect that if they acquire Su-35 that they will be better able to keep them in good condition than Russia can. There are potential parts suppliers for many of the items that are outside of Russia. Plus anything that Russia has in stock and is willing to part with is going to be provided to Iran without any restrictions.
    I wouldn’t be surprised if Iran also buys some aircraft and air defense systems from China. That would provide an alternative source of equipment just in case Russia isn’t able to follow through with their delivery and sustainment promises.

    • @Gridlocked
