  • We look into the rich history of Sears, from its beginning when Richard Sears sold watches to other railway workers, to its dominance over American retail, to its dramatic fall into oblivion.
Share your experiences with Sears. I know many of you have found memories. Did you work at one? Order things from their Christmas catalog?
There are still 11 Sears open in the US as of 9/1/2023, so you can still find one, if you're in the right state.

I realize I misspelled “beginnings”. Too reliant on auto correct, which FCP doesn’t have 🥲

I worked at 4 different sears stores for about 11 years from 1995 to 2006...Sears was broken on the inside at the corporate level and refused to fix the internal problems and thought changing things at the store level would fix their problems...the CEO drove Sears over the cliff by selling off things that were successful and left the stores open for internet competition to dominate...which it did...when kmart bought out Sears coming out of bankruptcy...I knew it was only a matter of time before the end

When I was 12, I got caught for shoplifting at Sears. My mom and sister were in a different part of the store while I was in the toy section.
Management took me downstairs to an office. And then they called my mom over the intercom. My mom and the person talked for a moment and then let me go home.
The refrigerator I bought at Sears in 2012 is still working perfectly.

Thank you for the great history of Sears. Nice video. Sadly I did not help keep them open - bought things like lawn mowers, shop vacs - etc...
Makes me sad that they are gone or soon will be.

I just want to live in a Sears home. There are some near me and I like to take a bike ride through the neighborhood once in a while.

A new legacy for Sears is coming 🌟

They keep saying a new legacy is coming after reopening two stores. One in Burbank, California, and another in Yakima Washington. The stores were reopened with leases. Leases that may have been created through Transformco a Lambert controlled hedge fund. They keep saying a new legacy is coming but nothing happens. As for the reopened stores it looks like they did not spend a single dime on renovations. They reopened the stores with the same old 20 year old dirty carpeting. They could have reopened with a new fresh look, and concept to bring people in but they have failed to do that.

I love going to the MALL because with the MALL you don't have to wait the product is right in front of you that you buy , and nobody can't steal it from you like they do today at your front door and cause problems at least with the MALL nobody knew where you live ..... everything before computers and amazon was SO SO much BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

Eddie Lambert also brought Kmartn m.j out of bankruptcy in 2002 before Sears was bought out by Kmart I. 2005. Lambert was in control long before 2019. He wanted nothing more than the assets and real estate for his hedge fund. The original plan after the merger was to grow the Sears Grand concept stores. Lambert did not want the newly Sears Holdings Corporation to succeed because he wanted to raid the assets for his hedge fund. He succeeded. Sears was stripped bare.

Sears could of been Amazon if they wouldn't put the money people in charge . No vision! Always worried about the profit not the future.

Sears is headed for the junk heap, as I see no way of it ever coming back with such bad management. This mall is a mess.....leaky roof, dirty floors and carpet........run down and totally disgusting!
