    An addition to 6 (learning decklists) also can lean into 1 (utilize the websites). FormatLibrary not only has the deck search feature you showed, but if you are on the format's page (edison in this case), you can go to the deck gallery and open the type of deck. (So, FL->Formats->Edison->Deck Gallery/Popular Decks) From there, you can look at deck lists for the most common ratios. Now, the downside is that this factors all decks; tops, scrub outs, historic jank, etc. But let's go through this point with Vayu Turbo. At the time of making this comment, 64% of players play necro gardna. 87% of hamster players play it at 1 or 2 (pretty split on 1 vs 2). 55% split on the 1-of charge too.
    That deck ratio tool can help understand some deck building on your own, or what you are expecting to play against. Though there is still a lot of merit to seeing the "final product" so to speak of the topping decks.

    Excellent advice. As someone who exclusively plays tier 1.5 decks, *knowing* the tier 1 decks inside and out is what's most important - after mastering your own, of course.
    Loved the HxH scene at the end!

    Amazing video, Frazier! Thank you for sharing these tips.
    I'd really like to see more videos of you breaking down replays of your games, like you did some time ago for your tournament run with Hero Frogs. Discussing why you played your hand like that, what went through your mind at that moment, why did you sequence the plays in that way, and what cards were you considering your opponent had and you played around would be awesome. I think understanding how a pro's thought process goes could really help us get into that mindsight and start to actively ask those questions ourselves.
    Obviously, doing the same for when you're siding would be the cherry on top. But I understand siding is a skill we need to develop ourselves and a great Dark Magician does not reveal all their tricks lol. Still, thank you for your insights and all you do for the community! 😄

    I've been making written side deck guides in my Notes apps for years. I would also say it comes with fializing your deck list and memorizing it so that siding between games is quick and easy. Writting down your deck list in your Notes app helps you menorize it too.

    I think grinding ladder is underrated. Ladder gives you a good mix of meta and off meta so you learn how to play against everything. Which is very helpful in tournament.
    Also cool to see my name cameo in the video at the #30 spot on the ladder 😎.

    I always do my side plans on the deck building screen itself, never thought it'd be easier to just do it in solo mode 😆
    But good video. I think another interesting topic (which could be its own video) is playing IRL vs playing in a tournament online and how to prepare for both

    I know that you disagree with me when I said I'm not a good player. But you said one thing during your streams that made a lot of sense, which is that I've never had the opportunity to improve further. Namely, I don't play in enough tournaments with good players because I've always lacked the funds to travel, afford the best decks, and because I work on weekends. But given so many tournaments are online now, this might be the best way for me to get better. I agree that I need to play in more tournaments with good players in them.

    Couple tips I would say that might be obvious but I see people do that make them lose.
    1. Not winning when you can. You should almost always win the game when the first time strikes otherwise you better play beyond perfect.
    2. Don't play brain control unless you absolutely have to get back into the game or have the game. Definitely the two biggest things I see newer Edison players do that cause Winnable games thrown.

      @imnerdpodcast my friends they say OH goat is to slow I'm nor going to play this rn I'm in my edison era rn . But today I learned about ambeo something like that it's a water 1 star monster that does burn damage to ur opponent when it goes to there side of the field for a whooping 2k now I just wanna great a deck revolving that card or maybe tech it in goat controlle. I forever will say goat format is the chess vers. of yugioh. And edison is checkers.

    One Big question about Priority, I looked in many places and couldn't find it.
    The Turn Player does NOT have "Ignition Effect Priority" when the Summon starts a chain.
    Example 3: Player A Normal Summons "Armageddon Knight". In the Summon response timing, Player A can activate "Armageddon Knight's" Trigger Effect OR pass priority to Player B; who may respond with "Torrential Tribute". Player A does NOT have priority to activate any other card/effect as Chain Link 1 (including Ignition Effects).
    After reading this ruling above, why is Swap frog seen activating his eff to return to the hand? Prio cannot be used if the card has an eff trigger on the summon. If you don't activate it in the summon, you wouldn't be able to activate any ignition as a prio. I am wrong ?

    • @imnerdpodcast
      @imnerdpodcast  2 місяці тому

      Where did you get that from?

    • @Douglas1990hero
      @Douglas1990hero 2 місяці тому

      @@imnerdpodcast There is this example on any website of the format, including on the website that showed it in video, just above where it talks about monsters with 0atk
      EDISON FORMAT RULE #6 - Ignition Effect Priority
      I found posts from old judges who said that the swap could return using the prio, but it doesn't make sense to take this ruling literally that says that if the summon generates a chain, the prio cannot be used. I see pro players in the dueling book using this, and I haven't seen any judges notice what I've noticed since I returned to the format. I was going to text you to tell you about this, but I always forget. As you have been playing with the deck for a long time, the fact that you always use this prio in the summon means that no judge has ever said that it couldn't, but from my understanding and what it says in the prio ruling, it can't.

    • @imnerdpodcast
      @imnerdpodcast  2 місяці тому

      I think you’re wrong. I don’t think that a summon starts a chain if you opt to not use the effect.

    • @Douglas1990hero
      @Douglas1990hero 2 місяці тому

      @@imnerdpodcast this is the point! The prio ruling example used exactly one optional eff (armageddon knight), and says that if you choose not to activate the eff, you cannot use the prio.

    • @Douglas1990hero
      @Douglas1990hero 2 місяці тому

      Example 1: Player A successfully Normal Summons "Elemental Hero Stratos" whose Trigger Effect is optional. Player A does NOT have priority to activate any card / effect other than choose whether or not to activate Stratos' Trigger Effect and pass priority to Player B who can respond to the Summon with Torrential Tribute
      Another exemple in the same website
