  • Dear friends
With most of my videos running into 2 minutes long, I must say this episode is a welcome change since it only clocked below 15 minutes. Maybe I’m running out of things to say, I’m mean what is there to say which I’ve not said. Mind you for these 3 years I ‘ve uploaded 170 videos already. Sadly, my motivation isn’t as high when I first started, but who could blame me since the viewership is falling by each new episode. Anyway, thanks for supporting me, hopefully new viewers come forward to enjoy my videos. Thanks, and see you in the next.

This area is a major part of my childhood especially Kam Heong.. My brother and I spent many weekends during our school days helping my father at his stall. For those of you who frequent there might recall a stall selling claypot seafood porridge during the 90s to early 2000s. Those days there weren't that many stalls like pan mee, popiah etc. I've many fond memories such as buying comic books at the bookshop beside Kam Heong. My mom would bring us for our haircut at the hair saloon further down beside Tealive and buy our school uniform and school bag beside the hairsaloon...both shops are still there today. I still go there to cut my hair for the past 20+ years and I would always drop by to tapau the prawn mee after my haircut. I watched my first movie with my family in tht PJ state cinema..think it was jurassic park. And how can we forget A&W with the huge playground with the ropes and bridge and maze. Ah such carefree days..

Great illustration on both the old and new PJ in it's 60's 70's and till current progress. Very educational, informative and easy to pick up from Elmo. Yatt Lau 👌& Mou Tak Deng 👌. This is again a good kopitiam that has the all time favorites for mos ,if not, for all the patrons to this Kam Heong kopitiam. The Penang Keow Teow Th'ng to Hand made pan mee --> all the way to final SiewLarp rice ....... all brings back good memories of classics and from the number of approvals ✅ given by Elmo - I think I will go and have a try when I am at PJ new town area and it's vicinity. Thank you Elmo 👏👏👏

The popiah stall was originally run by a Malaysian lady...
As for the wantan mee stall, they were originally operating at the corner coffee shop next to 99 Speedmart before the current mamak took over the place. They went to operate in Nilai for a while before returning to PJ State operating at Kam Heong kopitiam.
The chee cheong fun uses the red sweet sauce. It was run by an elderly couple before the current young man took over.
Both the fried rice and pan mee stalls are recent additions (about 3 years)

Thanks for doing this video and sharing this location. It brings back a lot of memories 👍👍
However, I would just like to share my personal experience on the last stall, the chicken rice. I will not go back to them bcos they have cheated me before on my order. I ordered drumsticks & thighs to tapau, I even ordered extra portion to round up the figure and to show support (this was right after MCO). When I opened the packet at home, it was all breasts meat, arranged like drumsticks. And the best part was they even put the end of the drumstick (knuckle) to complete the pic. To me, this is plain cheating. You do not do this to your customers.
And the WTM is very expensive now. A lot more expensive than others. Lastly, the duck rice is no more good. The seasoning and braising standard has dropped tremendously, while the price raised tremendously LOL!

Sorry to say Mr. Elmo but this is the worst recommendation you had made. I was there 2-3 weeks ago. It was HELL! Lots of people and waiting time for a table (just for 2) is about 30 mins. Then another 20-30 mins for the kopitiam people to CLEAN the table.
The food wasn't that great also.
I wanted to order the fried rice or char kuey tiow. They say have to wait for 1 hour at least!!! OMG, I'm definitely not going to wait for an hour for my meal and with the tons of people there!
Hence, I ordered the wan tan mee. Nothing great to tell you the truth. I think Glenmarie's wan tan mee is much better. My son had the pan mee and he too say that it's just average.
As for me, I DEFINITELY will NOT return to this kopitiam at all.
All the workers are just standing there doing nothing when customers need them to clean the table.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER in a kopitiam!!!!
