The only song that cannot be interrupted by guardian attacks. They're irrelevant now - the only thing that matters is getting up that ramp. Just thought I'd point out how bloody effective that detail is from an immersion standpoint.

The composers of this piece right here are absolute masterminds. It really gives off this feeling that you're either marching towards imminent death or victory. You're walking on the same grounds that hundreds, if not thousands of soldiers have fallen and you are the last one left. You're there not only to save Zelda and protect the land, but to avenge the innocent lives maliciously taken by Calamity Ganon. This OST could not have been any more perfect.
This comment makes me emotional lol I love TLOZ story lines T . T
YES!!! YES!!! _ESPECIALLY_ SINCE THIS SONG HAS A REALLY COOL DETAIL THAT PROVES THIS. if you listen closely, you'll hear a consistent drum beat that sounds A LOT like the marching of footsteps. and, if you remember correctly.... link was the captain of zelda's personal guard :]

This is when it hit me - this theme begins playing as I rush towards the castle and I realize that the game has relied on Courage this entire time. At this point I KNEW whatever came my way was done for no matter what. I feel like Nintendo thought of this too because of the idea that you can go straight to Ganon from the second you step out of the Shrine of Resurrection. This game’s soundtrack is so underrated. Yeah sure, most songs aren’t made for you to shoulder-bop or shower to, but it does everything it wants to do while your playing the game flawlessly. Many people find a hard time to appreciate most other songs in the ost in retrospect, but I will always remember it very fondly- Temple of Time being a favorite. That said, if there was a place for the soundtrack to go into full cinema mode, this was it and they certainly delivered. It really feels like the climax of a 100 year battle- and it maintains the instruments we’ve heard weaving in and out of the washed away civilization of which we’ve been exploring- they are all here- working together in harmony for the first time in the game. Link has done what he needs to do- and he is ready to take what he’s learned and save Hyrule. I love this song- but it’s really important to me to not take the rest of this gorgeous soundtrack for granted.
Is it underrated?
@@LeviathanLP oh dude it absolutely is. nobody gives this game credit for its ost that is frankly magical. this game's soundtrack really holds up next to the titans of the zelda series's past tracks. that is saying something. they kept that standard high and while there arent many tunes to shoulder bop to, that doesnt make the soundtrack bad, and there are still some great up beat tracks like Kass's Theme, Hyrule Castle, and the trailer theme.
you hit the nail right on the head! i love the soundtrack so dearly, just because i think it truly does wonders conveying just how lonely the post-calamity Hyrule is. like yea, there's still people and towns, but all around you there's ruins of what once was and i think the ost does a fantastic job capitalizing on that feeling. my favorite track is the one that plays during the memory in the oasis outside of gerudo town, that cinematic is honestly my favorite video game cinematic ever made and a lot of that is in part to the music that plays
Sly If you want to learn the music theory behind how BoTW’s soundtrack conveys a ruined land being explored openly by a curious and unknowing person so well, I highly recommend videos on the topic by the channel 8-bit music theory. Here’s hoping for more touching and action packed cutscenes in BoTW 2! Actually, I 100% agree with you about that cutscene! If you want that specific itch to be scratched, the Final Fantasy VII Remake really did the trick for me! Even though the gameplay is different, I’d really recommend it if you are into sick action scenes intertwined with touching character moments, even though the gameplay is very different from any Zelda game. Cheers for the happy reply! ^w^
The reason it is overrated the way it is. Because the scores are nothing new or rememberable. Take this track for example is a combination of other tracks from the franchise I know it has some of the ost work from Link's Awakening. Now granted I will say this is still a solid track, but Zora's Domain, Death Mountain, Rito Village, and a few other areas get watered versions of the characteristic original scores from Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time.

I bring the destruction of Hyrule Castle!
zeldas lullaby in the trumpets at 1:58 made me tear up, that's some insane writing.
This theme has a magic of some kind that really made me fall in love with BOTW. I’d been dreading the lack of tunes that would normally accompany me across my travels, so having THIS felt insanely powerful. When I came to Hyrule Castle to fight Gannon, I had the full Tunic Of The Wild set, Hylian Shield, and of course the Master Sword. It was that moment when I truly felt like everything had come back together. This is when I realized, that this WAS Zelda, and it will continue to be.
While Tears Of The Kingdom is arguably the better game, Breath Of The Wild is still going to hold a bigger place in my heart, at least for now.
It fits the theme of BotW so well too; it’s about a Hyrule in complete and utter collapse. It’s not the Hyrule we know. I played the same way you did and it was so fulfilling; Tunic of the Wilds, Master Sword, Hylian Shield. Only after Link’s overcome every other obstacle has he become Hyrule’s hero, and it’s like the music comes in to show it; this is one last push, but all that’s left is what’s always been there; Ganon, Link, Zelda and Hyrule Castle. It all comes together in the song and it all comes together in the very end, the Zelda feeling we know and love is there at the end when Hyrule’s finally got a chance at getting back to normal.
As someone well accustomed to music, each part individually sometimes doesn’t make sense, but when you combine them into this piece, it sounds beautiful. I would pay to see a live performance of this.
'I would pay to see a live performance of this' Yeah... that's how live performances normally work...

This is just a brilliant piece of music. This is easily one of my favourite video game tracks of all time. I had chills for like a good hour it's so good and did I mention it's good? Honestly thinking about this song's existence brings a tear to my eye.
Every time I listen I get goosebumps, it’s one of the most epic themes I’ve ever heard. Every time I just imagine myself rushing up the steps of hyrule castle, slaying monsters on my way to save Zelda and vanquish the calamity once and for all. It’s fucking awesome.
This game's musical design was so damn impressive.
The music was always so muted, mellow, and whimsical. You're exploring the world and just soaking it all in, and it all just blended in. In a good way. Then you stray one step too far and you're at Hyrule Castle, and it's a corrupted mess. Suddenly the music is front and center. It's 10 beats per measure, which just sounds... wrong. Music isn't like that. We're used to 4, maybe 3, not 10. Everything's off. It's the Hyrule Castle theme, with hints of Ganondorf's organ solo from Ocarina of Time, as he's corrupted the castle grounds. Then, you'll get little moments of the Hyrule Field theme now and then, but all with the wrong timing. It's unsettling.
Then you enter, and the music almost immediately cuts out... to a ghostly, even more unsettling version of the same song. But you no longer get the Hyrule Field theme poking in. Now it's Zelda's Lullaby, played low on an ocarina, while the old "low health" noise repeats. Oh god, I've been exploring this world for how long? And she's been fighting so hard to hold him back. What was I thinking???
Such a masterpiece.
I understand the reason behind BoTW's minimal music, but hearing an absolute epic like this just makes me wish there was more of it.
The epicness of this piece is incredible. It is sinister, it is grand, it is the perfect opening and closing of the end and the beginning. It is the incarnation of this Hyrule castle: majestic yet corrupted.
A comment that doesn’t sound braindead!

This music is epic
Truly
Yess, that is true.
This feels like a march, just get to the sanctum. But when you get inside the castle, the music gets calm. There is less to fear inside the castle, but all that matters is facing Ganon on the top. I like how the new track just feels like an ominous place more than an epic final journey.
I kinda wish there was a final cutscene where right before you start throwing down with Ganon, all of the old soldiers that might still be around along with their now adult sons and daughters put their old armor on, some wearing the armor of their predecessors in their stead if they fell in the calamity or from age. For the younger of this group, it’s the fight to avenge their predecessors, for the old soldiers, it’s one last fight before the end. All this while this soundtrack is playing, you see them begin combat with the monsters and guardians, then it switches back to Link, and your fight with Ganon begins.
I'd love it if a cutscene played where link stands in front of the entrance looking at the castle and all the damage done to it and as he looks, gradually small orbs of light gather behind him in a uniform way like an army standing behind their leader. Link suddenly feels a presence from behind him, and turns around to see the souls of the soldiers standing at attention and the other heroes appearing by his side, before they slowly fade away while their orb like souls start to float into the entrance, letting link know that as alone as he may feel, he will never be alone.
