“It is well understood by good parents that life should only ever get so exciting for a baby: after friends have come around and brought presents and made animated faces, after there has been some cake and some cuddles, after there have been a lot of bright lights and perhaps some songs too, enough is enough. The baby will start to look stern and then burst into tears and the wise parent knows that nothing is particularly wrong (though the baby may by now be wailing): it is just time for a nap. The brain needs to process, digest and divide up the welter of experiences that have been ingested, and so the curtains are drawn, baby is laid down next to the soft toys and soon it is asleep and calm descends. Everyone knows that life is going to be a lot more manageable again in an hour.”

when i was younger, i imagined a life with the "big dogs", going from city to city on business, having a large house and a night life. Now after all the "noise", both at work and at home, all i want is a debt free life, a safe small home, a healthy diet and lifestyle, a non-toxic inner circle, and everything within walking distance. i just want to see the sun shine.

It's funny when you consider these things:
Some people tell to strive in life, others say to stay calm.
Some people tell to control/ reduce sleep, others say to increase it.
Some people tell to earn more money, others say to stay low because money cant buy happiness.
Some people tell to be more social, others say to be less.
Some people tell to try to understand the philosophies of life, others say to ignore philosophies.
The truth is, you gotta live your life as it pleases you. The standards given by people will always keep you at unrest mode.

    • @yearofthegarden

Both spectrums have merit. It's good to be ambitious in your 20s, achieve all you can, go through the hardest labor you can endure, trial by elimination of earned lessons and experiences but take heed of the wisdom which accumulates years of other's struggles that you have yet to endure, and mantle yourself as a giver back to those around you to help perpetuate what is amassed material and hard work that keeps a standard of living, health and opportunity possible

We're all so tired from school work and extra curriculars that the way we spend our free time is mostly through passive entertainment--watching videos and TV for hours, instead of giving our mind rest. Exactly. I'm 40 years old and live in the center of beautiful Heidelberg Germany. I inhabit a flat with 2 students, to save money. I can walk to work (ICU nurse), but I have an old used bike for less then 200 bucks. I don't need to travel. Heidelberg is paradise. No car, no kids. I only work part time so I have enough money for my hobbies: Bouldering, Running, Gaming on Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Switch (when our house burns down, I can't lose those games, I own them in the cloud). Life is beautiful nowadays, why would I waste it at work. I only buy cloths when I really need them, mostly cheap.
You can eat healthy for 5 bucks a day (coffee included). I consider whole grain pasta to be healthy, but you should have them split up in to maximum 2 meals a day, and with a good amount of healthy plant seed oils (I prefer olive). Other than that I eat nuts and vegetables. Only drink water, coffee, and tea without milk or sugar. If you're vegan have your vit.B12 and a good source of omega-3 fatty acids (like algae oil), maybe vit.D if you're a nightshift worker or not out in the sun much, and you're good. I'm 40 years old, athletic, everyone thinks I'm much younger. Take good care of your bodies folks and enjoy life 💟

I just call it rest, or restfullness. The more I do it, the more I notice my 'system' desires peace, silence... nothingness. It's a wonderful feeling, to just be able to sit and come to a certain peace of mind. I Just observe my thoughts and emotions without trying to push them away. They are there, floating around, but they don't bother me so much because I am in 'rest-mode'. I try to do this every day 10 minutes. And I must say it changed my life for the better.
