It’s amazing how times change, when I was a kid quite a few years ago, we were always a little embarrassed about the rusty nature of the things we had now it’s all the rage. It does look nice, NOW days.😂💐💚🙃

The finial (antique or not) looks amazing on the aviary! Quick question, how much did you pay for it? Was the price at least comparable to Wayfair? Don’t you just hate when people lie to make a sale!?!? You may have chosen to buy it regardless if it was an antique or not…it’s just the idea you were lied to, am I right? UGH!! Venting for you! 😂

Sunflower is the common name for Helianthus. So either is acceptable. And 1000% yes to the lavender under that gorgeous window box.
Hi Robbie! It was great getting to see Brent again. He comes up with the best ideas for things. You two are such a cute couple. The window box is beautiful. I need to find some of the petchoa (sp?). The yellow is so pretty with the dichondra and creeping jenny. Lavender planted below it will be so pretty. I'm looking forward to seeing the sunbelievables in full bloom. They will be so amazing. Too bad the people lied to you about the finial, but it is perfect on the aviary. Everything is looking so good! Thank you so much for sharing!

I love that you and Brent trade off garden tasks that you are scared of - spiders for you, heights for Brent. ❤ Helianthus are sunflowers. Their scientific name is helianthus. This comes from the Greek word for 'sun' which is 'helios' and 'flower' which is 'anthus. Is sunbelivable a perennial for you?

Robbie fyi all sunflowers are Helianthus -you are correct to call these Helianthus a 'sunflower'--they are in fact a sunflower. Your seed grown sunflowers are Helianthus annuus, your Monrovias are Helianthus x annuus. :)
Long shot, but : Do you happen to know how I can get my hands on some Monrovia Jurassic Ferns? Their website just says to check the stores and their stores in my area (Lowe’s) don’t have them/don’t know what they are. Is there a good place to order from that will ship to me?

I love Coleus but they get so leggy if you are not on top of them. I call myself the weekend gardener since I'm only home on the weekends. During the week I stay with my dad so I don't get to enjoy or work on my garden.

The Aviary looks so beautiful. Just a word of warning or caution, Because the Finial is metal when you have a thunder storm it could attract lightning. It is finial that usually goes or found on top of a barn. Looks wonderful and complete.

I may have asked this before, but I noticed when you planted the sunflowers in you front garden you did not put starter fertilizer in the hole when planting. I watched your informational fertilizer video yesterday and you talked about adding before planting. What constitutes which plants need the starter fertilizer? I notice this on other gardening blogs that use of starter fertilizer is not always consistently used.
I’m not a fan of warm colors, but that window box is beautiful! Paired with lavender would be stunning!
