This is why I don't like most modern thrash bands. A lot of them copy the 80s and 90s thrash sound and it gets old. One of the few modern thrash bands that innovates is Vektor. Their album "Terminal Redux" is one of the best thrash metal albums OF ALL TIME in my opinion.
Power Trip is a band that's bringing back classic Crossover Thrash metal, and I love that so much. Glad you guys got to this one, I missed it somehow. The album this is from is a banger, not one single dud on the whole thing from start to finish.
I feel exactly the same way as you guys about this band. It sounds just generic, not bad, but not original and repetitive. I really don't understand at all what the fuzz is about this band, seriously. The music is not bad per se, but so overrated. Otherwise now that you are done with Thrash week: Leprous - From the Flame Hacride - Overcome Pleeeeeaaaaaase!!!!
Jup, it sounds okay, but there's nothing interesting about this. Too bad that's one thrash song wasted. There's SO many good old school thrash bands that each bring a totally different flavor to the genre that these guys haven't listened to yet. Too bad.
Agree. I don’t get the love for these guys. This would have been generic in the 80s. They remind me a bit of like a Meliah Rage type of band. Not bad or anything, just nothing special.
This is exactly what I thought. Idk why people kept recommending this. Sounds generic as hell & like something kids who just started a band would play on their first day of practice
"Artillery - By Inheritance" or "Artillery - Khomaniac" for thrash week! Or as tribute since they just lost Morten Stützer, one of the two Stützer brothers that was responsible for their unique sounding guitar riffs. RIP Morten Stützer :(
Yeah it's basically 80s thrash done today. Unlike the bottom 3 here: Megadeth-Wake Up Dead/Metallica-Battery Testament - D.N.R. Machine Head - Imperium Soilwork - Stalemate
Great video guys! Im shocked to say i havent heard this one and i have been listening to thrash all my life. I need to pay more attention to newer bands coming out. A mistake i will stop making haha
The key point is that it's more of a direct access to a band, in this case Power Trip that does the thrash genre right and plays live more often and at smaller, affordable venues. Sadly, the originators of thrash are old, don't play live as often if at all anymore, more time between album releases and are at times unaffordable to see live.
RIP Riley Gale. For anyone who doesn't know, Riley was the lead singer of Power Trip and an all round good dude. He passed away in his sleep a few days ago
Yeah it's basically 80s thrash done today. Unlike the bottom 3 here: Megadeth - Wake Up Dead Testament - D.N.R. Machine Head - Imperium Soilwork - Stalemate
Machine Head "Imperium". They need to hear that. Especially with some story around it. Like they came back with Imperium when pretty much everyone said they where finished, they got kicked out of their label, etc. Then the album was release here in Europe and with the magic of the Internet, everyone in the world realized MH was still very much alive to kick some major asses.
GREAT to see you gentlemen react to some modern thrash🙏 Here's some more suggestions for Thrash week; Sylosis - A Dying Vine Revocation - Labyrinth of Eyes Killer Be Killed - Wings Of Feather And Wax Machine Head - Clenching the Fists of Dissent Deficiency - Those Who Behold
You guys are killin it! I used to hate rap/hip hop but am starting to try it out for the sake of having an open mind. Shoot me some good songs to check out. Keep em comin' fellas! Bad ass sweater George hahaha
Great reaction as always and I kinda understand where you both are coming from and agree as well. With power trip they do have a core sound which is kinda reminiscent of late 80s sepultura/crossover type thrash but I do feel that it doesn't sound recycled but fresh. There are two things they do very well according to me which makes them sound fresh. One of them as somebody mentioned is the fact that the drummer doesn't use a double bass so it has this hard core punk type sound and also it adds a lot of flavour to the groove cause the kick drum sounds like a thump which is very prominent in the mix. It kinda stands out a bit and makes them sound a bit different considering how many bands use the double bass. The second unique aspect distinct to them is that i love the way they break down rhythm sections and make it staccato to an extent. Many songs would just have them strumming and picking without playing too many notes but varying the patterns and the way they strum. This is very evident in the chorus of soul sacrifice. This quality makes their riffs very percussive and groovy. It is an integral part of their sound even though there are predecessors who do that. In addition, I do feel that the songs are really good on their own but they kinda work better when played one after the other because this album is mean and relentless.

Ryan, love the analogies!! I've been clamoring for more! Now I have to go listen to The Game..
Rock on!!
80's thrash sound but I love someone bringing it back!
BTW appreciate the Gojira hoodie......
Power Trip is a band that's bringing back classic Crossover Thrash metal, and I love that so much. Glad you guys got to this one, I missed it somehow. The album this is from is a banger, not one single dud on the whole thing from start to finish.
I wonder what they would think of helmet, maybe some meantime or unsung especially?
Double upvote!
chad greenaway
They would love Helmet
This band is so good, probably my favorite concert of the last Hellfest
I feel exactly the same way as you guys about this band. It sounds just generic, not bad, but not original and repetitive. I really don't understand at all what the fuzz is about this band, seriously. The music is not bad per se, but so overrated.
Otherwise now that you are done with Thrash week:
Leprous - From the Flame
Hacride - Overcome
Pleeeeeaaaaaase!!!!
I agree 100%
Jup, it sounds okay, but there's nothing interesting about this. Too bad that's one thrash song wasted. There's SO many good old school thrash bands that each bring a totally different flavor to the genre that these guys haven't listened to yet. Too bad.
Agree. I don’t get the love for these guys. This would have been generic in the 80s. They remind me a bit of like a Meliah Rage type of band. Not bad or anything, just nothing special.
This is exactly what I thought. Idk why people kept recommending this. Sounds generic as hell & like something kids who just started a band would play on their first day of practice
Glad to see others feel the same way. So many great bands missed with so little time and we get this instead...
these guys rule, man. Unbiased and great energy. Feels like showing your buds a new track and them feeling it.

VEKTOR IF YOU WANT INNOVATIVE THRASH,ONE OF A KIND
TETRASTRUCTURAL MINDS
overrated
@@volvolume In what sense?
They'd really dig LCD

Currently on a Lost In Vegas binge. Love seeing diverse reactions from open minded people. You guys are awesome.
You guys need to hear some Death Angel if you want a complete thrash week!
Voracious Souls to be exact
It can't be complete without a Death Angel song.
I think they’d love the Moth
Mistress of Pain
Some solid Overkill and Metal Church suggestions in these comments! Would like to see one of each.🤘fire
"Swing of the WOW!"
Unlike the bottom 3 here:
Megadeth-Wake Up Dead/Metallica-Battery
Testament - D.N.R.
Machine Head - Imperium
Soilwork - Stalemate
I think they're one of the only neotrash bands that actually pull it off, surprised they took them though, they're not that known
Great video guys! Im shocked to say i havent heard this one and i have been listening to thrash all my life. I need to pay more attention to newer bands coming out. A mistake i will stop making haha
Check out Exodus - Shroud of Urine, the whole Tempo of the Damned album is great.
Agreed. Tempo of the Damned might be the best album to really introduce more modern Exodus.
Blacklist!
The title track is just amazing
War is my shepherd!!
@@codyhansonbass i remember the first time I heard that song. For thrash it was so vicious i felt. Absolutely loved it haha
The key point is that it's more of a direct access to a band, in this case Power Trip that does the thrash genre right and plays live more often and at smaller, affordable venues. Sadly, the originators of thrash are old, don't play live as often if at all anymore, more time between album releases and are at times unaffordable to see live.
Megadeth - Wake Up Dead
YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT
Anything from Peace Sells, you can't go wrong. Besides the cover, "Superstitious". Solid cover, just not Megadeth at their finest.
@@Wildxmo My Last Words is my favorite Megadeth song, chills every single time.
@@Wildxmo Also I think Wake Up Dead has some of the catchiest riffs and bass ever.
@@NegativeFloyd I think Good Mourning is my favorite intro to a song on that album, but no denying that My Last Words is right there as well.
@@NegativeFloyd Wake Up Dead is absolutely one of my favorites on the album. I feel The Conjuring is my favorite, glad they did that one.
RIP Riley Gale.
For anyone who doesn't know, Riley was the lead singer of Power Trip and an all round good dude.
He passed away in his sleep a few days ago
Flotsam and Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace!
Ah, good one.
Flotz til Death.
100% !!!!
Power trip is a band you have to see. This brings the memory of no barricades, stage diving, brutal pits.
Yeah! My favorite current thrashers. Wearing the nightmare logic shirt as I type this
would be sick if these guys revisited Power Trip. theres some serious groove in the breakdown riffs that these guys would totally dig.
Yeah it's basically 80s thrash done today. Unlike the bottom 3 here:
Megadeth - Wake Up Dead
Testament - D.N.R.
Machine Head - Imperium
Soilwork - Stalemate
Machine Head "Imperium". They need to hear that. Especially with some story around it. Like they came back with Imperium when pretty much everyone said they where finished, they got kicked out of their label, etc. Then the album was release here in Europe and with the magic of the Internet, everyone in the world realized MH was still very much alive to kick some major asses.
Dr. Living dead - crush the sublime gods have a good 80 trash feel
@@fredesti1 I don't want 80s trash
Congrat on one million subs!!!!
GREAT to see you gentlemen react to some modern thrash🙏 Here's some more suggestions for Thrash week;
Sylosis - A Dying Vine
Revocation - Labyrinth of Eyes
Killer Be Killed - Wings Of Feather And Wax
Machine Head - Clenching the Fists of Dissent
Deficiency - Those Who Behold
Well said.
You guys should check out "Death Angel."
Hell yes. Seemingly Endless Time would be up LIV alley.
@@JohnWilliamsGTS I'm not trying to brag here, but I'm going to see Death Angel November 16, can't wait. 🤘🤘🤘
You guys should listen to VEKTOR. Modern Progressive thrash metal
the whole thing with the main guy kinda ruined the band for me
@@FCGREGOR Why? The music's still the same.
I saw these guys live and they were amazing! Crazy amount of energy from all the members!
How have you not done VEKTOR
The most innovative thrash band since the 80s
That's exactly what I was thinking since the last video ...VOIVOD or VEKTOR,but VEKTOR would be so much more interesting
TETRASTRUCTURAL MINDS!!
You guys should do “Crossbreaker” by Power Trip 100% recommend it you guys won’t be disappointed
Power Trip is awesome. A little trivia: They refuse to use double bass drums in their songs
Why was that?
@@JammingWave The vocalist, Riley Gale, said in an interview that It was meant to "keep it very Rock 'n' Roll traditional"
@@DarkFoX750 interesting, thanks for the info

Guys -
I caught your review of Tool's Pneuma and I was absolutely blown away... Your review captured exactly how I felt listening to that song for the first time...
Since then, I have started going over your reviews and absolutely love you guys, your channel and ideas behind it.
I have seen other "Reaction" videos and none of them...NONE OF THEM... have that Magic that Lost in Vegas has... You examine the music, listening for the time signature changes, the guitar tuning, the drum fills... the lyrical inspiration and all that goes into creating beautiful music.
Thank you for all the hard work and effort that goes into your channel. You have made the world a better place for me and I truly Thank you.
Now, if I may suggest something I think you will like...

Live with 2 drummers - the pause, hang... Drop! in the middle of Roman Bird Dog is so crushing.. they all stop together for a long moment, Feedback crushing... then as a group.. all 4... BAM!! ...SO DAMN HEAVY!...
I may be in the minority but I think Warbringer would have been a better choice for a band, especially since they have a nice blend between the modern and classic sound
Warbringer would be good too but this was just flat out the wrong song from Power Trip. It doesnt do them justice.
Saw them live and they played this song and it was crazy and energetic
