@@crutchfield got a bad wire harness from red wolf... lesson learned. cost me a new stereo i kinda wanted figuring my old one crapped out in storage (dual, never a long term brand imo). Once I got the harness that works i'll be fine. Never had a bad harness so it threw me for a loop for two days. Had me questioning my vehicles wiring lol got a tester now so never again.

Heads up for folks with Microsoft Sync. The CAN network adapter that interfaces for the steering wheel controls will not port the voice command, OK, and phone answer/hangup buttons.
The non nav versions dont have the 4 screws. The holes there aren't even threaded. Pissed me off so bad, new radio working and everything. But scoches kit is essentially a nav radio replacement only. You can use bolts/nuts, but good luck getting the alignment right, and it's a pain to remove if you need to.

The way this video was edited is pretty bad. The camera view should just be focused on the work being done, with just the audio from the creepy guy narrating. Why show his face? He's not even working on the vehicle and his face bugs me out. haha

will the Ford sync system still work ? and in my wife's 09 escape what happens to the info panel above the factory non nav head unit ? The panel that show ALL the info ?? will it just be useless? If so, if I use the Maestro add on will that panel and sync system still work? Thank you in advance
The SYNC system can be kept working with the right type of aftermarket radio when its installed with the proper parts. A receiver with an iDatatlink port on it and then using the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR interface can keep it working. The stock display will not be used anymore as this setup allows the new radio to display that information. Depending on which factory trim package came in your Escape originally (factory navigation, subwoofer, basic, etc.), a different vehicle integration harness model may be recommended. Regardless, we should have a harness that will work for you.

i have a 2011 ford escape and people are saying i need the maestro ads-mrr module to replace my radio....as far as i can tell this is only to maintain the SYNC functions, which my car already DOES NOT have...my question is that in order to keep my steering wheel controls (volume, forward/back, etc.) do i still need this module? (also fyi the sony head unit I am planning to purchase specifically says that it supports steering wheel functions)

2008 Mariner Hybrid Would i loose the Hybrid information that my OEM radio shows?
That information should not be lost. There is a display at the top of the dash should continue to work and show that information.
@@crutchfield I meant to say the Hybrid info that is currently displayed in the double din screen OEM? Ie: MPG, hybrid battery state of charge, battery current flow from engine to wheels Batterry and such, this info is collected from the car via can, will your device display this NOT the information above the vents
How hard is this for a novice? I am the type to try things and the cd drive is broken and I wanted to replace that part.

It looks like the factory version of SiriusXM will be lost when changing the receiver. The good news is you can get a new receiver that is SiriusXM-ready, pair it with the tuner, and keep it that way. I see that we have adapters for most versions of that vehicle to retain use of the factory satellite radio antenna. i purchased boss BV9358B stereo and ascw-1 steering wheel ampifier for ford escape 2010, steering wheel inferface doesnt work, what recomendation for steerine wheel inteface module???

Unfortunately, Boss receivers typically do not work with steering wheel control interfaces or adapters.

The steering wheel volume controls can still work, but it does require an adapter to keep those working.

With this radio install, do you retain compass, and exterior temp on center stack?

I have a 2012 Ford Escape limited, the factory display shows both radio info and full climate control info ( fan speed,interior dual climate temps, exterior temp,compass) .....will my climate control display still work fine after I install an aftermarket head unit?

My brother has cut the factory wiring harness from my 2009 Ford Escape trying to install an aftermarket stereo!!!! Any idea which wire in my Ford is the auxiliary wire to connect to the new stereo??? Can't find any wiring diagrams online.

Can a reverse camera be integrated into that system?
A reverse camera, also called backup camera, can be installed into this vehicle and connected to any touchscreen receiver with a backup camera input (should be most, if not all receivers with a touchscreen now).

so im finding everywhere that 6x8 is the stock speaker size in my 11 escape, will 6x9 fit as well or is that actually too big for the door mounting holes?

instead of the 6x9 model?
main reason i had wanted the 6x9 was because they were 3 way, whereas the 6x8s are two way....although it does look like this model of 6x8 can out perform the jbl 3 ways as well but i wasnt sure if the 6x9 would even fit or not
6x9 speakers do have mounting tabs that are spaced further apart than those on a 6x8 speaker. Also, the 6x9 is a bigger speaker. We have not researched the vehicle to see it there is a way to modify the mount to take a 6x9 speaker. I recommend consulting a custom installer to see if its possible to make that change. It would be great if you guys make a video for the 2001 - 2007 model. There are no good videos for receiver installations and the instructions that come with the package aren’t even worthy of being called vague

when you install the new radio were you able to use steering wheel to control the new aftermarket radio. I have ford escape 2010 and I will be installing aftermarket JVC. I was told I cant use the steering wheel to control the radio no more.
The factory steering wheel radio controls can be retained with the proper installation accessories and a compatible aftermarket stereo. Most JVC models will be compatible not all.

Why can't we disconnect airbag?
Disconnecting that harness can cause issues with the airbag control system so that it throws a fault code to the BCM which disables airbags from deploying in the event of an accident. Best to keep the airbag harness plugged in.

This is a comment section if you don't want to answer people's questions on wiring diagrams then shut off the comments section quit trying to peddle your parts on everybody not everyone can afford to buy plug & play stereo equipment the more you help the more customers you'll get down the road take it from a veteran electrician we got enough salesman in the world.
I find Crutchfield to be very helpful. I recently made a purchase and when I had some issues their tech support went above and beyond to help. As you said yourself "this is a comment section" so do I have to point out this is not a tech support section? If you want help from them contact their tech support directly instead of crying like a baby.

It depends on the wiring harness available for your specific vehicle and the wiring in the vehicle too. Some of the harnesses include the parking brake wire and some don't depending on the car. What's the year, make, and model of your vehicle?

You will need a harness to retain a stock sub and amplifier. There are times, depending on the vehicle, that your stock amplifier cannot be retained. It is all dependent on what types of harnesses are available for your vehicle.

the adapters they sell are cheap quality and leave a best behind the unit. Would be better if they just said what colour goes to what fir hard wiring IMO.
@@ogopogo1397 can't hard wiring steering wheel controls nor can you hard wire a 12v ignition with the retained accessory capability without cutting the 87 pin for the delayed accessory relay In the fuse box located in the passenger floorboard
