Parents moved further to High court and on 12th October 2017 Parents were acquitted by high court. High court stated that the evidence presented by the CBI against the Talwars was not satisfactory beyond reasonable doubt, and therefore they must be given benefit of the doubt instead of being convicted based solely on suspicion. This movie is masterpiece but have also been criticize to show Parents in good light and servants in bad light. And to this date this case remain unresolved. If Parents did the crime they are free today or if servant did the crime they are free too and we have no result till now. Police investigation in this case was crap and as a result of it we still dont know who was real culprit

This movie is so frustrating, but at the same time a work of art. Irrfan Khan was such a legendary actor who can never be replaced in Bollywood. I miss the era of bollywood films that were less song and dance, and more proper stories that were well written
24:54 they were acquitted by High Court afterwards. High Court made a remark on trial court judge's ignorance also. They are free. But the said part is....the real culprits are also free 🤦🏽

The New CBI chief was friends with the Asikh sardarji who did the initial press conference blaming the Dad and the ridiculous argument of affair between the servant and a 14 year old. He bitched up the CBI evidence deliberately to save his friend. All this was a daily news in India and the frustration that we all had as parents was very effectively depicted in the movie.
There is a similar crime thriller movie named "UGLY" and its similarly frustrating. It too revolves around the inability of justice system because of negligence, internal politics, corruption and ego. Its a good movie but so frustrating that it leaves you in anger.

No they came out of jail. The case hasn't been solved till date.
I have read so much about this case, several reports, news articles, different views, the third angle, etc.
In the end it is best to let it go, that's what I have done because the obsession with this case makes you sick.
Everything is 100% based on true story...but luckily higher court dismissed the order...and the parents are out of jail...but unfortunately those group of criminals are also still not caught.

Police investigation in india more often than not, are botched up. Insepector rank IO in india cant handle the murder investigations properly. They have personal problem, they have departmental problem, they also have to please their masters, they are also focusing on other cases simuntansouly.
This is not the only case in india where investigation was botched up. There are n number of cases with botched up investigations with culprits roaming free and innocent behind the bars.

The parents had challenged the conviction after this trail in Allahabad High court which in his judgement said "the evidence provided by CBI against the parents was not satisfactory beyond reasonable doubt, and therefore they must be given benefit of the doubt instead of being convicted based solely on suspicion."Nd, The case remains unsolved.
The movie reminded me of the Korean movie, “Memories of Murder”, almost the same subject matter, and the same frustration when the movie ends.

1. All accused servants were with their respective owners that night, confirmed by their owners.
2. The killer covered hemraj's body with cooler panel and bedsheets and then locked the terrace. Why will some outsider do this ?
Talwars locked the terrace, they wanted to blame hemraj for it and were waiting to dispose the body of hemraj perhaps next day. They didn't know that it will be such a big drama and they won't get opportunity to dispose the body.
3. After killing two persons, and knowing that parents are sleeping in next room, Killer didn't run away, but he opened personal bar and drank scotch whiskey. Wow...Just wow.
4. When police broke the lock, Talwars kept denying recognizing hemraj...LoL..while his family recognized him. The same person served dinner to the family in same dress just one day ago. And they couldn't recognize?
5. Aarushi's body and surroundings were readjusted, as proved from blood mark patterns, killer was so dumb that he was adjusting aarushi s body and her toys and books instead of running away.
6. Aarushi's room could not be opened from outside without key, parents claim that they forgot key on nearby hanger that day, wow, and same day servants also came...Wow great coincidence.
7. That day Parents gifted a birthday present camera to Aarushi ...too early ....Many days before the birthdate. Again a coincidence ?
8. Aarushi's phone got switched off at 9:40 pm that day, {first time in a recent year} the girl used to chat with her friends till 12:30 AM everyday. She was murdered at around 1 AM, phone got switched off at 9:40...Ok again coincidence.
9. That day Nupur personally brought Aarushi from school to home. Otherwise she used to come with driver other days. Again a coincidence.
10. Nupur's phone was also switch off that day , first time in entire year. Again a coincidence. ?
11. Hemraj did not eat dinner that day, He took food for himself in a plate, but then didn't eat. Usually he used to have dinner at 10 pm. again coincidence ?
12. Talwar claimed that he was awake till around 11:30. But around 12, just one 30 mins later Aarushi's friend Anmol called on home-landline, the phone was kept in Bedroom of Talwars, but no one responded.
That day was special.
Ok so the 10 PM time is very important, something happened around 10 PM which led to phone-switch off of Aarushi and Hemraj not taking his dinner.
13. Hemraj told a NGO activist that his life was at stake , Activist asked him to tell his owner (Talwars) he said "HE CAN'T".
14. In all this, Wife of Hemraj must be neutral and obviously she has no enmity towards Talwars and no friendship with Servants.
If she had doubt about servants she would accuse them, Coz they also killed her husband..
Why did she blame Talwars?
She says that her husband told her on call that dentist couple is threatening him, and not paying his salary, so he can't travel back to nepal.
Why would his wife lie ?
15. When their only child died, parents didn't cry much, their supporters say every human reacts differently, and I agree When some loved one dies, people get shock & trauma and it's completely normal if they don't cry.
BUT
Nupur went straight in a television show just few days after murder, and kept uttering cheesy lines like my daughter was my world, flower of my garden and so on.
These are filmy & poetic lines, no one becomes poetic after such a big loss, so poetic , that it begins to look scripted and acting , even anchor seemed shocked that how can this woman make such lines under this much pressure & trauma.
16. IG Kaul, CBI noticed that parents were not supportive, and kept giving contradictory statements, and defied orders and kept removing items & renovating their house despite warnings by CBI. All they cared about defending themselves, and showed no interest in finding the culprits.
17. UP police , at first observation accused Talwars until their gang bought CBI IG Arun Kumar who proposed his out of the world theory.
18. CBI final team accused Talwars again on the base of 138 circumstantial evidences, and court convicted them lifetime imprisonment.
19. High Court released them due to lack of direct evidence , but didn't say that they were innocent.
The parents were also put under NARCO test, but their video were not made public, as it was not part of the plan by IG Kumar. It is available in CBI's reports though, you can find it on internet.
In that narco test :
- Dentist couple admitted that Rajesh killed both Arushi & Hemraj with a golf stick.
- Whenever the Name of Hemraj was mentioned, the couple showed extreme anger & hate towards Hemraj.
Why?
So if we can blame Servants on the base of fabricated & edited NARCO video, why can't you blame the parents. They also accepted murdering.
This list goes on, even a child can tell that parents killed her. For what reason ? That's mystery.
"Jis din mene aankhe kholi. Insaaf Insaaf Insaaf hoga".
This phrase in this movie was so strong i literally count this movie as a best movie from India.

This is like the OJ case (not literally). People kinda knew who did it but there wasn’t enough evidence to prove that and the real culprit is still free.

This movie was simply made to clear the parents' image. Please don't fall for it. It's still 50/50. One of the officers said that if the parents are not the killers, then he's never seen unluckier people than them. And if they are the killers, then he's never seen better actors than them

There was another movie made this very same case where they tried to show how the mother actually did the murder. The name is Rahasya I think.

If you would watch the documentary you would realize how possible it was that the parents could have done it, the movie was biased towards the parents, which is clear as to how the parents murder theory was shown.
True. movie was biased towards the parents and wasn't depicting the things exactly as it was. I had followed that case at that time. And there were so many suspicions about her parents too.

There is actually competent evidence that the parents were involved in the murder ,atleast accidentally if not deliberately . Moreover their interviews also seem fishy due to their primary focus on their own convict ion rather than their daughter .But this movie gave an unfair edge to the parents POV over the servant....if u read into the actual case ,its even more frustrating given the inconsistent evidence but there's actually a good chance the parents did it ,maybe accidentally killing the daughter and then the servant to steer clear of any witness

This case is very similar to the Jon Benet Ramsey case if you're familiar with it. In both the cases the incompetence of Police was the reason the case is unsolved to this day. Also, this is a great movie but it shows that the parents were completely innocent which isn't necessarily the case. The scene where they ask the servant guy to take the drug test and he admits to it, the drug test happened IRL and you can even search it up on youtube, he never admitted to anything but in the movie its shown that he does admit to the double murder.
This case is still unsolved.
It was her parents who killed her.. her parents are already released from jail .. just think if you have not murdered why will you go to jail.. there were some guilt in their heart and they went they dint fight

The door to roof was locked from inside and the main door was closed from outside... somebody did the murders, did all the cleanup and locked the doors...so definitely there was some outside oerson involved...the question is whether inside help was involved or not...cause all this work would've taken a few hours.
I am a law student and we were made to study this case. This movie depicts the parents in good light and servants in bad light. There were various evidences to prove that the parents were guilty and it was a case of honour killing however not sufficient to prove the guilt beyond reasonable doubts. Had the police did the investigation properly it was a simple case. It is also alleged that the parents had given huge money to the police to not investigate the case. Thats why no fingerprints were taken. No evidence was collected properly. The sad part is arushi has still not got justice.

The interesting part is, you're frustrated because you don't want it to be the parents. But most of the evidence were actually against the parents. From the beginning, they polluted the evidence by allowing outsiders in crime scene, they called the police late, out of all it is a whole conspiracy, when you realize that the vaginal swab from the victim was also adulterated in the hospital. And who can have influence or have such a thing to benefit from. From the beginning, it is absolute that the parents were hiding something. Their hiding was the reason for so much doubt shifted on them. You don't want it to be the parents is the frustration, but take that barrier, and view, you'll see most of the doubt plunges the parents.

According to me, parents were the killers for sure. Who would lock the doors after committing a murder? The servants would run for their lives. They wouldn't even think of locking doors on the roof and on the main door. Another thing to be noticed was the sound of the doorbell. If parents could hear the doorbell in the morning, how could they not hear so much happening in the house?

If you notice everytime a flashback back is shown multiple times it is from the perspectiveamd bias of the person telling it, so when we first see the daughter dead on the bed, the father is silent, but when the father is retelling it to the police, this time the father is crying and screaming after seeing his daughter dead.
For any crime one thing is important, Motive. The parents had no motive to do it. While the servants actually did have reasons to kill. People are so consumed by sensationalism that they ate the parents killed their daughter because she was involved with the servant four times their age story up.
i think UP police failed arushi, then CBI went ahead and failed too and finally Judiciary for not holding these instituations accountable.
Killers are Nepalis ,so it's diplomatic tension between India and Nepal which are brotherly countries,so killers got saved in this case.
kuch bhi don't make false random judgementm, a team later went on to investigate in Nepal, and that nepali guy has wife and childrens who want justie and have been apealing in nepal but they are too poor and the man has been said to be very respetful and honest person in his neighbourehood back home and even by the parents and those other 2 servants.

I can tell the evidences that were against talvars
In this movie everything is shown from two perspectives
1) the blood bed sheets and mattresses with blood stains were washed and police didnot ask them to be keep for matching of dna or fingerprints weren’t taken
2) the next day the whole of the police team went to find khempal on the sayings of the parents that he killed arushi and thereafter the whole investigation there stopped then they were called up on finding him dead
3) there was only one key of terrace that too with talvars
4) the murder weapon hockey stick was found at the talvars house plus the cut they had put later was very accurate as if some doctor had slit the throat with precision (both of them were doctor)
5) the girl and hempal had some relationship and it is alleged that it is a case of honor killing.
There ate other various evudences as well but its isnt proved beyond reasonable doubts it was horrifc how police investigated

The title of the movie is a play on words. The original last name of the parents is "Talwar". It means Sword.
and the movie talks about the sword in the symbol of Justice. How it is rusted.
In the end, Talwars are in jail. (They are out now). We will probably never know who were the murderers so the "Talwar" is still rusted.
