I'm an Indian Medical Lab Technician in the pediatrics department and I was looking for videos to help me explain to patients' parents as simply as possible how CBC comes into play during any treatment process. Sometimes they're quite apprehensive about their child getting pricked for whatever reason. I like your video, it's well made. CBC is the heart and soul of our labs, biochemistry comes next but 80-90% of the testing we do is CBCs.
Is it possible for HIV to affect cbc... cos have done cbc 3times in 4months ... the 1st result came out abnormal due to alcohol and other factors while the rest of the rest came out fine but am still scared to go for HIV test .. please explain more

I’m not sure if this is US or Canada but an MLT is a medical laboratory technician and an MT is a medical technologist. They are trained to do the same thing for the most part but one requires an associate degree and one a bachelors. Also, the pay is very different and some labs will not hire MLTs. Just info if anyone is interested in the lab field. They are all an essential part of the lab!!
Kristina Hill I work in the US. I’m not aware of any labs that are well staffed enough to not hire MLTs, but there is certainly a difference in pay, and generally more positions available.
Here in Western Canada, Medical Laboratory "Technicians" are not recognized, instead they would be described "Assistant" which is different than a "Technologist". However in Eastern Canada, they may be called "Technicians". We have MLA's and MLT's. MLA's are also known as a Phlebotomist, where you only need to earn a certificate. But for MLT's you can get your diploma and write an international exam where you are qualified to work Canada-wide. In addition, you may further your education and even specialize in certain areas.
Thank you soo much I got paperwork saying they wanted to test me for this and other things. I was nervous and scared being impatient. They want to test me for - Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (10231) - CBC diff plat - Ana (Antinuclear Antibody) with reflex titer (249) - Sjogrens Antibodies SSA, SSB (7832)
Hi I have a question could you please answer me ? When a person have indirect combs and direct combs is there any way to understand the answer of indirect combs & direct combs according to the cbc ? Or be sure that we do the test right?
I am about to have some blood tests before seeing my doctor. I'm wondering if a "chemistry panel and complete blood count (CBC)" test can replace AiC and Lipid tests. In the past, I have routinely had AiC and Lipid tests, but maybe I can do better for less.

Alex I have found that many hospitals in Florida do not hire MLTs but you are correct that the field needs them.
