Death Troopers are way taller/skinnier than other troopers! Because they're zombies (which sadly hasn't actually been addressed on-screen yet). Totally agree with you about the cardback image, although I htink they chose that particular one because that's the only moment in season 1 when he weilds the Darksaber. Speaking of, is that not translucent black plastic? It doesn't look like it is in your video.

This looks like a great figure with the likeness and articulation, it really captures Giancarlo Esposito nicely. I do think he is a pretty small person in stature but that is more from The Boys than Mando. He looks really tiny on that show to me with everyone else all padded out. Hasbro is really stepped up on the sculpts and articulation on the new TVC releases. Great review and looking forward to getting him and hopefully a folding-winged TIE Fighter to match coming soon!

great review tim! i would preferred the soft goods cape personally. the plastic cape looks rigid and lacks flair. other than that an amazing figure and the 3D face print looks insanely realistic.

They are my Christmas present to myself, something to look forward to! The Mandalorian series is shaping up to be hugely toy-centric, so many great characters Hasbro can do! This series has really revitalized my passion in figure collecting again. Hopefully Hasbro will knock out a ton of Mandolin figures. I actually pre-ordered the whole wave so I'm eagerly awaiting their arrival from Big Bad Toy Store. Which I hope will be this month but if the last year is any indication I'll be lucky if I fave them by February, but I will have them. And that's more than I can say for my local stores.

I have met Giancarlo Esposito and got him to sign my Gus Fring figure. He posed with me for a photo with a boxcutter (no blade obviously) to my throat. I was smiling in the photo and he said in a menacing Gus Fring voice "Why are you smiling"? We promptly took another with me donning a scared/shocked look. He's a real pro and very gracious, deserving to be in SW. So once we get back to normal I'll have to get him to sign my Moff Gideon figure if he shows up at con !
Awesomeeeee! Hahaha! That means that mine could be on the way already!! Hahaha! He is a great figure and i get to place him alongside Vader,Sidious,Ren,Maul and all the other big bads of Star Wars fame!! Hahaha!! I am not too crazy about the new way that they are doing the hip joints myself!! It takes another couple of steps to get good poses and various kicks into play!! They added an extra piece at the top of the legs or split the upper leg so it has independent movement. Grrr!! Hahaha! Love your videos!! Happy holidays and stay blessed!! Hahaha!
Ten years ago the vintage collection came out with a 4 armed General Grievous released with a soft goods cape AND POCKETS for INDIVIDUAL lightsabers. What’s the deal, Hasbro?
I found the Rogue One Vader at Target and the only gripe I have with it is that his foot pegs holes in his foot are shallow and figure stands won't work without drilling his foot.
Such a great looking figure Tim! Still haven't been able to find this wave here. I really like the card image, yeah its a little dark and they probably could have cropped it a little more. I think Hasbro wanted to use an image with him with the Dark Saber, so unfortunately this was the only scene at that time. Great review Tim, can't wait to see the new Rogue One Darth Vader review.

Great review Tim. I’m loving everything Mandalorian and so far Hasbro have produced good quality figures (TBS 6” & TVC) for us collectors. I agree the card-back is disappointingly dark but at least Gideon is sporting the ‘dark saber’ in one of the stand out scenes from season 1. I’ll wait patiently for mine to arrive after Christmas.

Got my wave set last week. I will say this. The Mandalorian in that set is probably the best TVC figure of all time. Can’t wait to see and hear your opinion of that one. The Vader is OK too, but I have a hunch what you’re going to say about it. Re: Moff Gideon, I’m OK with his size. Not every villain needs to be physically imposing, so it’s actually kinda refreshing to see a shorter dude carrying a big stick. Like all villains we can predict his fate, so might as well enjoy the few episodes he’s got left before they transition to Grand Admiral Thrawn. PS....I’m still STEAMING over the Razor Crest....😡😡🔥🔥🔥🤬🤬. I can’t let it go....
Even though you firgot to mention it in the video, he has a nifty working holster for his tiny blaster. Would've been nice to see how he holds it in his hand, considering he has a kinda wide trigger finger. Does it overlap? Does he grip it snuggly? Or does it fall off his hand easily? I like the figure..my cape was a bit hard to get in the slot but I managed..the saber looks a bit wonky but it looks like Hasbro have had trouble in the past with Dark Sabers..Giancarlo Esposito is a fairly short man and quite slender..I think the armour bulked him up a bit..I say Hasbro nailed that..otherwise its a great figure..cheers Tim🍺🍺🍻

Hasbro need a new approach to lightsabers, I understand the use of translucent plastic for the blades, light passes though and looks like it's glowing, but I'd like to see lightsaber blades painted with dayglow colors. Also, the core of the blades are white, it's the glow that gives it it's color, not sure how to convey that in toyform.
They did that with the Mcquarrie sabres, came with the McQ Stormtrooper and the TAS Rorron Corrobb figures. They should probably start doing something similar again.

They call this the vintage line. Then they give the figure to do things the original line could never do like the ball head swivel and arms that articulate more than just moving up and down. A true retro line would only conform to the specs of the original figure line from 1978 to 1983.
They use clever camera shots in the show to hide his height. It looks like hasbro must have just gone off the actors height and not the character, the best example of this is when he's standing with his Death Troopers at the end of season 1
I just picked up this figure and I have to say I am disappointed with a number of things. 1st the articulation is not as good as the other mandalorian series TVC figures. I can barely get mine to stand up in a normal pose with the cape on, and no rocker ankles and the legs make kneeling poses impossible. 2nd I have a product code stamped on the right rear thigh of mine in white lettering. 3rd The red strip down the leg does not align all the way down when you have the hips rotated for a kneeling stance. Mine came with the hips rotated outwards for a splits position and when I swivelled them in to get into a crouch the red stripe was down the front. At least it was better than the Migs Mayfield sculpt. The shore trooper leg mold should be destroyed it is so bad. 7/10 from me.

The actor is actually 5’7 so the height, surprisingly, is actually accurate

The figure is amazing, the cape sculpt is really good, but being partial to softgoods, already begun making a custom red and black softgoods cloak
the trick will be how to drape the softgoods on his shoulders without permanently gluing it or anything
