How to GET RID OF FLIES! 🤯

- I came across this recipe so I had to give it a shot! If flies are constantly bothering you try this! I’m still amazed how fast I started catching them!
1 cup of Sugar
1 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar
A few squirts of dish soap
And a little bit of water
It works because the soap destroys the surface tension of the water. For tiny insects, the surface tension makes water like a big water bed - you can walk all over it but there is no way you can fall in or get wet. When flies, with their light, hairy bodies, try that on the sweet, tasty, but SOAPY liquid they fall straight in.
I use a spray bottle of soapy water and spray them while they fly. That soap kills them.
I just grab my spray away window cleaner. Learned it from a coworker years ago. I never knew the bubbles killed them. Thanks Justin! 😊

The sugar and vinegar creates CO2, which attracts all kinds of flies, gnats, mosquitoes and more, then the dish soap does its thing.
So i love that this guy shows the results, not just the recipe and claims it works. "This is living proof" is the only words he needed to say.
Not saying this recipe doesn’t work because I’ve heard from family that it does. But there is no proof of anything. I don’t think he planted the flies, but if you call that proof, then do you also believe the earth is flat?

I make this, too, for gnat traps. I put them in small disposable cups on the patio and it works great!

Yep, this has been an old farmhouse recipe for our family for generations… no exact measurements needed..
To a jar or cup add about 1/2 cup or so of water… about 1/2 a cup of apple cider vinegar, about 2-3 tb’s full of sugar and just 4 or 5 drops (drops, not much) of dish soap…stir really, really well, leave on the counter near where all the gnats are located….
I guarantee, in 24 hours all your little gnats/fruit flies will be gone. Empty every other day or so and refill with fresh ingredients… if you’re having a really bad infestation, add a little more sugar than usual… and maybe a tablespoon or so more of the vinegar… works like an absolute dream… you can’t mess up the recipe, it will work regardless!

I put it outback on a table of my deck, about an hour or two before we go out and the flies by then don't bother us at our table.😊

I use a bottle of soapy water and spray them in the air when they get in the house. Much better than a fly swatter.

Minty fragrances are unpleasant to a mosquito's keen senses. The mere presence of peppermint plants can ward off these pesky flying insects to some degree. You can also turn peppermint into a personal repellent by crushing the leaves and rubbing them on your skin.

No need for sugar. ACV water and a few drops of soap that foams on top. You have to stir it. I use this all the time I. Horsefly traps and glass jars all over my home. Works perfectly.
The smell of ACV attracts them and soap bubbles traps them. No need for sugar. Your ❤saying it it doesn’t need it.

This works for those pesky knats too, except you don't need a big bowl for them. I just use a small dish and leave it on the kitchen counter and it helps get them, especially if you have fruit sitting around which always draws them. Great tip. I never thought about using it to catch flies too. I've had some get into the house and couldn't figure out how they were getting in. So if I have that issue again, I'll definitely fix this up for them.

I do just apple cidar vinegar and a little dish soap covered with plastic wrap...my grandma taught me it 20 plus years ago
I've never caught house flies with this recipe, but it's great for fruit flies.

OK, so for me here’s what works. I’ve done it for three years. I got it from some farm ladies on UA-cam you take gallon water bottle you fill it 2/3 full of water you put something really stinky in the bottom of the water I use two cans of cheap tuna fish you put the lid on you poke a hole in one side hole in the opposite side and just poke your finger in so they can get in but can’t get outand more flies with that and then you just throw the bottle out and make sure they’re not where you want the flies to be gone. You put it away away from it. I have seven of them in my yard because we have a big yard and lots of flies.

My husband and I always did this when we went camping and it always worked wonderfully and I never spend a lot of time outside without it. I always use a bottle.

Thanks for the recipe! Haven't seen that one for flies. I've been getting some flies on my patio and I have no idea why they are there. I just have flowers out there. Nothing that I think would draw flies. I'll give this a try.

Detergent makes them not fly back out. Take a Ziploc bag. Quart be fine , put water in it ,bout half I reckon , drop some Penny's in it. Tape it outside on your door. Or push pin it. That keep flys away

I catch nat's with this i use ACV and dish soap in a small container with top poke small holes and place a white paper towel or paper plate underneath.

I’ve been using a water bottle with 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/8 cup honey with enough water to fill the bottle half way in a great value water bottle with the top inverted and in one week I had practically a full bottle of flies. I’ve used the method above and it works good, real good. Easy to spill though and make a mess though.

I hate getting flies in my house, but my two young children let them in quite a bit. My solution is literally to suck them up with the vacuum cleaner. It’s rather involved, but effective and a little gratifying too. Need to do this mix outside though…looks promising!

This works on gnats as well. I only used a little vinegar and sugar and mostly water with like 3 squirts of soap.
Never thought to use it on flies tho but makes sense.
Any insect that falls into the water won't be able to get out. It's like the soap makes it easy to fall I'm but then harder to get out.
I will definitely have to try this. Seems like everytime I open the door bazillion flies comes on in and of course they all head straight for my kitchen. Yucky 🤮

No, but what did work was get a spay bottle, fill with water and add 3 or 4 tablespoons of peppermint oil. Shake it well before spraying. Gets rid of all bugs and mice. Doesn't kill them but they do not like the smell.

Im 45. I grew up with elder Black people with multiple soda bottles or sandwich bags with pennies at the bottom filled with those ingredients hanging from their carports and porches. Filled with flies and gnats. FILLED🤢 I forever remembered that method.

Cant wait to try it! In Calif flies are not an issue but in NC they are! (I moved from Cali to NC & trying to trap these pesky flies!)

This isn't how to get "rid" of flies but how to attract them.
I've used this method indoors when I lived in an area that had an abundance of flies that always seemed to find their way in, or outdoors when picnicking.
I was thinking the same thing. His garbage area looks very clean. I don't think those flies would have been attracted to that area at all had he not put that sugar based creation together. This just attracted those flies lol !!
I cut a quart water bottle in half put lip side down. Add apple cider vinegar and dish soap. If they haven’t landed to the bottom they can fly away. If they make it down they can’t get back up

Ive used that recipe for fruit flies but have never seen black flies in the mix..i DO tend to find them in my coffee cup if i leave it out unfinished..
Just straight cider vinegar works. I put mine in a shot glass indoors and replace every few days.
I feel like flies are just out of control this year. Im going to try both the bottle and the bowl....we let our dogs in & out through the day and its SO ANNOYING to fight the flies inside my house. My house is clean! I have no idea where they are coming from but im over it already! Thanks for the suggestion

Does that work on fruit flies and drain flies? Been in TX ten yrs and just now dealing with drain flies. These suckers will not stop! I'm close to just burning down my whole damn house!!!

I used dish soap and water and the drain flies in my place would just drown themselves when I had the issue a few years back. Dunno if it'll work for you, but it worked for me

What I do is turn off the bedroom light if it's on but turn on the hall light, they fly out the bedroom to go towards the light I then quickly shut the bedroom door leaving the fly outside. 😊
Or even worse you feel the air moving because of their wings and they keep landing on you while your trying to sleep.

Tired of maggots in the garbage can/cart....keep a spray bottle with 50/50 bleach and water...spray 5-10 squirts every time it’s emptied... works great...(clean the cart if it’s nasty, it should stay clean for a long time if you spray the solution at least twice a week...)

You can add a couple eggs in a bottle and put slats in the side of the bottle and you'll catch a lot of flys
I’m not sure wtf is going on in my house…but for some strange reason, every summertime, I get flies in my house. But it ain’t like a few flies here and there…it’s like The Amittyville Horror in my house!!! My kitchen windows were covered with flies. My back door was covered with flies. I don’t have any food out. No trash cans near by and no dead animals! If something was dead, I’d smell it! I must’ve let about 100+ flies out of my window in the back of the house and no sooner I walk back in the room, they’re back! I must have some paranormal shit going on in here!!! They fly low and slow too. Someone said on a video that it’s cause of the humidity and heat outside and the cool temps inside with the A/C running that makes them fly all stupid. But WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM?!?

So I have used this exact method in smaller doses to rid myself of fruit flies in my apartment. It worked great for the fruit flies. Never had any luck with it in with the regular flies. I would go one better and add a little ketchup and or Tabasco to the mixure just to really draw them in.
Currently crashing with a relative who has 9 cats and dog who doesn't really take care of their home to put it politely. Fly infestation central amongst other things! 🤮🤢. Im going nutkin futz over here because i have this one fly that keeps bothering me and landing on me while I'm trying to sleep and I can't sleep. I did this for nats and ended up bringing more flies in the process. Just went back to fly tape. In actuality I was attracting flies, not traping them.
Grandpa always said that if you want to keep flies out of the kitchen you need to keep a bucket of crap in the living room
