Hey Muk! My thanks to you. True, these aren't guides. There are guides elsewhere. But I still learn a lot from seeing an experienced player navigating guides like this. Lots of guides are easy to read but a great deal harder to execute. You are putting something in that knowledge gap that I appreciate. So I'm still learning a lot about these classes. A few pointers if I may 😊 - frost bow 5 requires a bit of pre-prep; you need to spam the 1 key twice so the target is „incased in ice“ for the cc to work. So if you know you need to cc: equip frost bow beforehand, spam 1 key twice before the cc bar is available, 5 when cc bar comes up (400 breakbar dmg), quick weapon swap button and F2 for water 4 (another 150) & F3 for air 4 (another 150 = 700 break bar dmg). Stay in air for a sec (cast other utility skills) for f3 overload to upkeep alac and then go back to rotation with f1… - elite glyph has different elements. Fire does the most dmg (around 2k), water has a strong heal (around you!) and also another cc. (150), air is another cc (150) but on a 15 sec cooldown but as it is a daze its affected by sigil of para. - but if you need a looooot of cc look at the tornado elite. Dan has a separate video that shows that you can do more than 700 cc in a short term (activate, 3, 3 sec and 5 & go out) or over 2000! if you have like 15 sec Its more useable in fights where you need cc in shorter instances where othercc skills are still on cd (like samarog CM) - if you are in fights with one shots you can choose to bring rebound to safe you from wipes (or make dps greeding harder ^^). Examples are sabir, daimos, conj amal., muraaat over., vale guardian (if your healer slips up). Anywhere where your group could be downed fast but you come safe the day with one button - signet of earth is the skill that can be switched out in most cases. A good usecase would be arcane wave instead of frost bow (or additional if you need even more cc). Arcane wave is an ammo skill of 2 with 200cc bar dmg each with a short cooldown. You can case arc wave, water 4 and air 4 then the second charge and you are at 700 breakbar dmg in a short duration without sacrificing much dps. Thats more than enough as a dps so i always switch from signet of earth to arc wave if i go into a fight where i need cc. Plus its a dace soooo sigil of para is useable (should not be taken as standard) - a good alternative for feel the burn is the glyph of lesser elementals. Good dps plus helps with might generation. Only negative point is that feel the burn can be cast without interrupting other skills but its more dps overall. Meaning you should start with feel the burn and then graduate to the glyph - never take signet of fire out. Its far too much dmg to put it away - even with full ritu gear (except weapons - those should stay viper) you may find yourself lacking in boon uptime. Take relic of the herald in that case instead of fractals. Gives another 17% boon duration which will eliminate any problems with boon uptime. Remember…if your alac is slipping the group suffers far more in dps decrease than from your relic of the fractals - boon radius for alac is 360 so be aware of that. Earth 4 is 600 instead… I prefer to use sigil of smoldering and agony over bursting and malice. You cap out on burning and bleeding duration while the other combi does not allow to do that (bith with proper food!). But thats more sort of a preference of mine….
You can precast the earth and fire bullet before the fight thus making all your bullet combos 2-3, also a slight dps increase since using fire 2 gives +5% condi damage (when empowered)
There's a variant of this boondps build you can do by swapping the earth traitline for Arcane. It's a minor dps loss but you gain strong utility, more boons and less cd on attunements + overloads as well as concentration to help with boon uptime (which may allow for less concentration on gear). You can get the revive-geyser trait on downed people that can help a struggling group, or arcane shielding to protect yourself quite frequently when using elemental elite skills (may also help with not getting overloads interrupted. A thing you can do while waiting for an encounter to start, is to charge 1 bullet of each element. This turns your autoattack into 'elemental explosion' - a strong attack that uses up 4 bullets applying a bunch of condis up front. Probably too complicated to work this into a rotation (and maybe even suboptimal) but as an opening shot it can be quite effective. And you're often standing around doing nothing while waiting for everyone to ready up at the start of a fight. Can also try charging it up if there's a longer downtime phase with nothing to attack in an encounter - though may be risky if you end up messing too much with your bullets.

A few days later pistol came out, instantly replacing dagger in the top condi builds. Needless to say I have a grudge.
Just to mention: This build is kind of unique in its function as a backup-healer in a squad that mainly runs a solo healer. Aside from the stabi and aegis shout, the heal shout is AoE and cleanses conditions too and you can always go for a clutch water overload, water elemental or even rebound. I don't think there is any other dps support making this good of a makeshift healer without investing into heal stat.
And if you are running the previous version with dagger instead of pistol, you also have insane revive power from arcane traitline for emergencies. Makes it a very good adps to run with less experienced squads, where you might want extra healing or revives. Warhorn 4 helps too
There is also the quick DPS Firebrand build, which has really high page generation thanks to the trait "Weighty Terms". They have enough spare pages to go into tome 2 and tome 3 for some utilities.
as someone with an asura elementalist, I've found Technobabble to be very nice for cc, and swaping it with fire shout or earth sigent wil help you CC without having to swap to air or water and lose all your dps. It's also instant cast so you can use it while overlaoding
To be fair at "13:04" , that day when you tryed Alac Tempest Dps in strikes, someone told you to bring Stab for your group and change ur build just a bit, just like when you say in the Condi alac scourge " bring the proyectile block, Bring the Flesh Golem if you need CC but you will lose a bit of damage, but be usefull", in that encounter you choose to not bring Stability and bring the elemental, but could have taken the " Eye of the storm, wich is a stun break and stability, then change the Elemental for Rebound" then you have 100% chance of Stability for 1 wave with Eye of the Storm then the 2nd wave you have Rebound in case someone fail the jump and not die because you used Rebound. In that case, in that day, in that specific Strike " Harvest Temple", you Chose not to bring anything and that is why it was awful, also, the healers were mediocre but that is why you dont trust pugs and bring Stab , bring Rebound.
13:24 It is kinda interesting to see Muk saying " fire, do some stuff, overload, earth, stuff ,overload, it does not matter what is going around me" and at the background there is a POV of Boneskinner, wich in my opinion is a great example of what happen when a person plays something that is new to him and think he is doing nothing but damage. 1st = With earth overload you gain reflect aura wich in Boneskinner is great to not take damage from the Ranged monster around the arena, same for "Earth signet + Aftershock", both gives magnetic aura + overload gives magnetic aura to the entire party , so you dont have to worry about ranged monsters for a while and you are helping you party.
Honnestly, I play it full ritualist, so if I'm in a party that have trouble to stay together, it gives some leeway. Despite that, I sometime am at a higher dps than some people playing pure dps builds, so I'm not worrying too much. I don't like the pistol, but I must admit that it makes very decent condi damage, and at range on top of that. Oh, and btw, thank you, seeing you testing it on stream help me better use the pistol. Yeah, I don't like it so I did not try too much with it until then.
Sounds like a complete waste to go Ritualist on Ele since you don't need the hp if you have a healer. Might as well just go all the way into offensive stats if you want damage or Cele if you want to do everything and never die.
@@Relhio I keep cele stats for solo content. I'd go more dps if I had a fixed group, but as I play in pugs and normal modes, I found out that ritualist works well to compensate any weakness we have have in the party while providing reliably what I'm supposed to provide. If I'd play with a fixed group or doing CMs, I'd probably go with more efficient stats, indeed.
I'm not seeing any comments about this so I'll save you one: Overloads, the thing that Mukluk had show a clip of him making eggs while afk as the skill completed over 2 seconds -> can be interrupted through any hard cc from any enemy or mechanic. If it gets interrupted, which it absolutely will whenever it can because it takes a sunset and sunrise to complete, you lose that 6.5 seconds of alacrity at the end. If you enter fights, whether it is raids, fractals (please never take it there), strike missions (omg), there can be a lot of cc, and your alac uptime will tank indefinitely because you will not be able to get that big burst of alac from completing the overload. Your element swapping benefits from alacrity. So when you don't have alacrity, your ability to swap elements to overload them and give alacrity goes down. Which then becomes a forever uphill battle to give a decent amount of alacrity uptime, especially because any overload you do next can also be interrupted. My advice to anyone who plays dps alac tempest, is to take every trait and every utility skill that gives them stability (eye of the storm, aftershock, trait in tempest that gives stability at the start of an overload) instead of the damaging signets and shouts, because once you get that first overload interrupted it is basically game over for high alacrity uptime. Be more selfish with personal stability and your party will thank you for having their alacrity uptime not being terrible.
The stability definitely helps, but if you know the encounters it's good to take the dps trait instead. Also if you have a reliable heal that you know will give stab when it matters, you also don't need to take the personal stab trait. It's great to be aware of it and to be taking it in fights where interruptions/cc can happen to you, but you don't have to sacrifice dps for it in fights where stab doesn't matter. Personally I like the 'downtime' doing the overloads gives you, as a small breather in the rotation to take a look at the fight and take in the current situation. Maybe at the mechanics going on, or if anyone is downed and needs help. I like that it gives you these little pauses where you can pay more attention at your surroundings.
You can go power or condi tempest alac and do 15-25k depending on weapon choice, skill issues, food/util, sigils/runes, many ways to do it. All of them good enough to pug raids and maintain uptime and not feed, with some really nice utility too. Have to go outside the meta to find a sweetspot.
I think the CC you forgot about was Dazing Discharge (air pistol 2), which is a 1.5 second daze for another 150 defiance damage. Its problem is not so much that it has no CC, it's just scattered across three elements.
elementalist really needs something like the necro flesh golem. its really screws your rotation to have to do CC as any flavor of elementalist. WIth tempest scattered across 3 elements, with weaver its like 5 element changes. and with catalyst your basically just lose all your dps or continue on with the rotation like nothings happening.
I don't know about 'completely ranged'. All of the overloads - dps wise - are essentially melee, which I always found forced me into melee at nearly all times. Not that the class doesn't deal decent ranged damage, but it definitely takes a HUGE hit from not being in melee.
Sometimes when I forsee a need for cc I bring the summoned hammer. Frost bow is pretty cool, too. Likewise, in down periods you can use the lousy air and water overloads and save your better damage overloads for when they can give the best bang for the buck.
The elite can cc if you use it in air. It can also massive heal your party in water. It’s not meant to be just spam damage rotation. Also I’m surprised you didn’t talk about swapping it to rebound.
Probably a fav build of mine, although I've only used it mostly in open world content. Pistol order of skills matters, even if they just go *bang* "Welcome to America"; as some other comments note, you ideally want to start with a fire and earth bullet pre-stocked before starting any real encounter. Alternatively, dagger main hand is what this build ran before pistol was a thing and it's still viable, even if it's 1-2k behind pistol. Lot easier to play. CC on this build is bad because alac uptime is super tight with this build; fire and earth overload pretty much need to remain on cd for alac to stay up, so a trip to air for pistol 2 and warhorn 4 runs the risk of alac dropping. Nowadays I play this build as it's pure dps version and it does fairly well and is a bit more forgiving since you don't have to be as on point (for maintaining alac). Pure dps version also does want to use air for warhorn 5. Also your explanation of pistol near the end here is honestly a big reason I'm not a huge fan of it. Even having played the job since launch, I've had moments where I thought I hit a key but it didn't register so now the entire thing is out of wack due to an unused bullet...and it's not helped by the bullet buff indicator being in the mix with boons that are going off screen half the time in raids. Yeah, sure, there's the ones over your head but they can easily blend in with other visual clutter going on. Pistol puts in work, but you as a player have to put in work with it every bit as much. It could benefit from some QoL changes.
If you do find yourself being off rotation because of the left over bullet, just skip the first rotational bullet skill on the next elemental rotation pass but go ahead and use the second bullet skill. That will get things on the smooth running again.
Elementalists have annoying visual problems that other classes (to my knowledge) don't have. The Catalyst energy bar being tiny with no segmentation, and the pistol bullets being either lumped in with every other buff you've picked up, or a tiny floating orb above your head that is near impossible to see. Imagine playing condition quickness Catalyst with pistol *shudders*. Catalyst energy bar should either be above the endurance bar like Druid's, with three segments, or should span the F1 - F5 buttons, be thicker, and of course have three segments. Pistol should either have a dot above each attunement that lights up if that bullet is active, or four dots above the endurance bar.
I run something fairly similar with dagger instead of pistol on main hand in open world... Just haven't taken the time to learn the pistol yet (and running celestial right now, although very curious which set would actually give best damage... I only have cel, berserk, and viper to swap between though as I don't have legendary). I've been running aftershock instead of the earth signet, but also sometimes swap stuff around to have as many instant casts as I can so I can continue to cast during overload. (as is you can cast feel the burn and your elementals barrage while overloading).
I used to enjoy Ele and specifically Tempest a lot back in the Core and HoT days, but ever since PoF it somehow just doesn't click with me anymore. There was a brief period when Heal Tempest was kinda good and fun to me, but that didn't last. Being forced to swap elements on a rotation for boon uptime annoys me and the new pistol makes it even worse if you mess up the rotation(as you said in the video). Slightly unrelated note: I love how you discover all these little bugs and/or tooltip errors within few minutes of playing a new build. Haven't tracked it, but are they more common on Ele than any other profession?
@@shinokami007 Theres a dps build for core guardian that does like 31k with nothing but auto attacks. For any class you want to play look for "low intensity" rotations they tend to cut out the extra skills that squeeze out the last 10-15% of the dps in the snow crows rotations but still do plenty to be usable in all content except maybe for the new legendary strike mission or CM raids/strikes.
i prefer to use dagger/war horn on my adps ele. Being melee makes its a little more interesting. lol Using dagger / war horn you're able utilize all of the elements
so i never had time to check out all this videos yet (and i havent played guildwars for a few months so these build videos werent as interesting to me as your other stuff), are these all viable builds for raiding/cm/strikes/fractals? or is this a video where you "try" things and then figure out that some of them dont work and some of them dont? is there some sort of tierlist or summary youre planning when you tried all the builds you want so players can kinda pick and choose what suits their playstyle and adopt your builds for group content?
@MuklukUA-cam oh I see thanks, I thought you're trying stuff that's not established yet, but that could be cool too someday maybe :p thanks for the response, appreciate how much you care about the community and comments
Thats my experience with support tempest. You're locked into a rotation and nothing will kick you out of it. I let my teammates handle CC because it screws the rotation to swap to air in the middle of your rotation in order to put out pitiful amounts of CC and then drop protection, might, and alacrity. I tend to always bring wash the pain away for healing even if im playing it as a dps since it lets me support the team if the healer is slacking or we get hit hard.
11:30 Bonkers ANET. Think your theory is correct, should be fixed. I like signets on Ele and now knowing that it has not been giving me any toughness is very annoying.
I just cannot get into pistol. It feels so slow for some reason, i think the cast times need to be 1/4 second each except Water 2. Also please Anet move the bullets to the UI above the endurance bar like Druid or as 4 color bars where the Herald energy is.
100% this, I enjoy the pistol but the problem of unintentionally having an extra bullet (or no bullets) loaded when swapping elements I find is typically caused by animation cancelling one of your pistol 2/3 skills by trying to go through the rotation too fast. Changing the cast times for them down to a 1/4 second like you said would make it feel so much better! And for sure, there needs to be a UI implemented for keeping track of our elemental bullets. Would make it so much easier than trying to scan the million icons on your buff bar to see if you got all 3 elemental bullets up and ready to go when overloading :(
Lots of people feel this way. I actually love the pistol, but if you go onto the official forums you'd think the pistol were the spawn of Beelzebub for all the hate it gets. I do recognise it could have been better implemented though, even if it was as simple as 'your first pistol attack after swapping attunements is empowered'. Ever since End of Dragons, Anet have been prone to putting gimmicks into professions that often feel fiddly to make use of relative to what you get out of them.
Plus it is Lighting Field that give " Dazing strike" to the Hammer 2 (Finisher leap), if any of the party use a Finisher Leap it will also CC with Dazing Strike.
really off topic but i REALLY WISH they change the summoned weapons on ele to work like engi tools. i get to summon a lightning hammer like thor or throw an axe on fire at people XD
I play my own version of alac tempest which uses hammer instead, because i really like hammer tempest. Only run 2 pieces of ritualists( wep/necklace) to not drop alac i use Air overload aswell. So rotation is Fire overload > earth overload > air overload. Actually a really fun rotation and does more dmg than pistol for me(skill issue obv)
It is so das and true. Over all the years i hoped for a cool and fun new way play ele, but no. you get a hammer and weird stuff that dosnt work or is way to complicated. Why. ppl wanted a bow, but no bow. Would have been cool. The only ele class i like to Play is tempest. As it is with all HoT classes, them are well made. Thx for the Videos btw 😂great stuff
@@uwebockwurst9613 to be fair ele has some inherit issues build into the class itself, the most prevelant is having to many buttons to press. they should have limted the attunements to 2 like the legends from revenant
It's more of a passive that was changed and the text wasn't updated, it reduces incoming damage by 10%. The active effect using the old passive is definitely a bug though and should be fixed.
I use fire and wind specialisation and i rarely use any other element. Sometimes earth when i go too fast since wind has a thing when overloading an element makes air available faster. Im just overloading all over the place

Tempests with 39% Prot: "Downstate? Never heard of it."
Yeah back in the day I would stand in the damage because I wanted to drop a lavafont when downed... Now I stand there because I can take it 😅
I highly recommend using Water 3 then Water 2, as you can swap Elements while Water 2 is casting to get a more fluid rotation and a DPS increase.
Love the thumbnail!
The elite can cc if you use it in air. It can also massive heal your party in water. It’s not meant to be just spam damage rotation. Also I’m surprised you didn’t talk about swapping it to rebound.
It's also CC (knockback) in water on top of the aoe burst heal - and a condi removal. Though less CC than from air elemental.
pro pistol tip, if you end up with the special swap over auto you've properly mucked up
Probably a fav build of mine, although I've only used it mostly in open world content.
I know you mostly play supports but I'd love to see this style of video for the full DPS builds!
Yeah tempest with 40% prot trait is like Mariah Carey being asked if she knows downstate:
"I don't know her."
You can run Arcane Wave for a CC. Not as strong as Frost bow or Lightning hammer but it's 2 charges and gives you a short leap
Isn't the elite air elemental 150 CC on demand ?
If you do find yourself being off rotation because of the left over bullet, just skip the first rotational bullet skill on the next elemental rotation pass but go ahead and use the second bullet skill. That will get things on the smooth running again.
Makes sense. My issue (as a newbie) was that I wouldnt realize I was "off" with the bullets until much later in the encounter, or at the end.
if you precast 1 water bullet before evry fight, you can just do 3>2 in water aswell
You should also precast fire and earth bullets and then do 2>3 for fire and earth.
Cool, but have you tried flappy friends to go with your fire flappy momma? They're better damage than the shout, plus they're cute.
Good thumbnail.
TY, I got stuck on this one for a while
@@MuklukUA-cam
Was this the last boon DPS on the list? Will there be a re-cap video?
I run something fairly similar with dagger instead of pistol on main hand in open world... Just haven't taken the time to learn the pistol yet (and running celestial right now, although very curious which set would actually give best damage... I only have cel, berserk, and viper to swap between though as I don't have legendary).
I've been running aftershock instead of the earth signet, but also sometimes swap stuff around to have as many instant casts as I can so I can continue to cast during overload. (as is you can cast feel the burn and your elementals barrage while overloading).
Nice one Mukluk They may not be guides but Hey they're great
I think I have to look at warhorn fire skill 4 again, I thought it copied boons to other players. Perhaps it got changed and I missed it
I used to enjoy Ele and specifically Tempest a lot back in the Core and HoT days, but ever since PoF it somehow just doesn't click with me anymore.
The rotational aspect of ele is why I love weaver dps so much. Just an endless loop that gets more rewarding the better you get at it.
is there a class that can just autoattack and be good nontheless... im terribly bad :(
@@shinokami007 Theres a dps build for core guardian that does like 31k with nothing but auto attacks. For any class you want to play look for "low intensity" rotations they tend to cut out the extra skills that squeeze out the last 10-15% of the dps in the snow crows rotations but still do plenty to be usable in all content except maybe for the new legendary strike mission or CM raids/strikes.
10:15 hey Muk, Earth overload is also a CC
I agree that Snowcrows rotations are hard to read. I never remember ability names, pistol 3 etc is much easier to understand
learn to read, it is a free advice. Your welcome.

not sure what the guides say, but its always been a good idea to overlord within your fire wh 5, whirl finisher on fire field is burning bolts.
Fire overload is its own fire field AND finisher, you don't need wh 5 for that. Watch his rotation demo again, you can clearly see it.
@@SheenaMalfoy not until the overload completes I thought... Damn ive really been doing it wrong this whole time if so
Yup just looked it up :l fckme
i prefer to use dagger/war horn on my adps ele.
These are all endgame builds that already have guides (they are linked in description always) and I'm trying them out.
I tend to always bring wash the pain away for healing even if im playing it as a dps since it lets me support the team if the healer is slacking or we get hit hard.
signet of earth passive, minimizes your damage taken by 10%
I think air and earth overloads have CC on them
11:30 Bonkers ANET.
Am I wrong or is Lightning Hammer not 432 total CC with skill 3 and 5?
Plus it is Lighting Field that give " Dazing strike" to the Hammer 2 (Finisher leap), if any of the party use a Finisher Leap it will also CC with Dazing Strike.
really off topic but i REALLY WISH they change the summoned weapons on ele to work like engi tools. i get to summon a lightning hammer like thor or throw an axe on fire at people XD
I think this build slaps with celestial thats how i run it and i can swap to heal alac with the same set
wait when i activate that skill i can travel back in time? omg omg omg
Thanks Mukluk, Piano time but only 4 keys lol.

They haven't changed Written in Stone because they can't. It's literally written in stone.
What i get from your videos... dont play ele no matter the spec or build 😆
Dps ele with overloads is fun buuuut suboptimal in dps
It is so das and true. Over all the years i hoped for a cool and fun new way play ele, but no. you get a hammer and weird stuff that dosnt work or is way to complicated. Why. ppl wanted a bow, but no bow. Would have been cool.
The only ele class i like to Play is tempest. As it is with all HoT classes, them are well made. Thx for the Videos btw 😂great stuff
@@uwebockwurst9613 to be fair ele has some inherit issues build into the class itself, the most prevelant is having to many buttons to press. they should have limted the attunements to 2 like the legends from revenant
correct
Sometimes I feel like I am a rare creature that enjoys ele 😂
I've been running ele for a few years now and I like it but oof... .so many buttons.
vindicator also can extend boons with a major trait while dodging
why is this the best guide on alac dps tempest when it's not even a guide?
I'm a dev (not for anet) and watching this bug exposed on stream, makes my heart hurt.
The more I see elementalist builds the more I like my ranger.
till its getting buffed, stay away from any support tempest. its insanely underperform and takes most effort.
6:56 reason i quit ele altogether... anet literally hates the class...
11:31 oh signet of earth wack not true of tooltip
14:09 what's the reactive gameplay class you thinking of mukluk?
15:20 oof get misunderstood
16:56 feel like dev want to be mechanical and not practical
The power alac build is infinitely easier
Omg first - ily Muk
It's incredible how wrongly someone can recreate a rotation and then give an opinion.
Oh so saying out loud what you are doing as ele sounds like a 5 year old telling me about a dream.
