The resistor eats like a fuse, if it burns as a fuse.

@@Yashar707a please let me explain, the problem with a resistor is that they heat up and can and do turn to carbon, that will burn or glow hot! Hence one of the reasons it's a fire starter! There are many types of fuse, a sand filled or ceramic type fillerment fuse will encapsulate any generated heat and go open circuit without turning to carbon. That's why a fuse is far better than a wire wound or carbon type resistor, both types likely glow hot and or burn.
Resistors are not a good option as a protective device.

In this half wave rectifier, you don't need to put a diode in parallel.

Don't use blue LEDs. Blue light stimulates LESS melatonin more serotonin. Hard to sleep.

The electricity for 220v is used when ground is connected and the voltage is flowing at 220v by redirecting the voltage using zener diode.
Resistor is still important to reduce electricity usage so the ground is not having 220v flow but only the amount of the led flow through.

you only have to change the value of the resistance from 68k to 34k, but 110v is dangerous, be careful

The resistor look like 68K ohm 1/4W , by calculate if the plug connect to 230VAC , current is 3.38mA rms power is 777mW , which exceed 250mW . The resistor will burn out quickly.. If plug in 110VAC current is 1.16mA , power is 177mW . so this circuit work ok in 110VAC , not sure for 1.16mA how bright the LED. To use Capacitor dropper 47nF at 50Hz XC about 67.7K which is close to 68K.
