CORRECTION: Divulian Ultra is not in early access. It's releasing other subsequent chapters as DLC's as they're finished.
Check it out here: t.co/JklaOGLuIs
So early access except you keep having to pay as they finish the game...
Unfortunate, this game looks cool.
Mayo I think this needs to be elaborated on further.
Is this to suggest that we’re looking at the finished build? There looks to be a few unpolished mechanics and lack of soundtrack.
If the game is finished, these issues are far more of a detriment than you outline in this review.
@@Riverslidebishop At this point it is unclear but I do know that my points have been delivered to the developers. I agree that if the music isn't expanded beyond this, that's a big issue. I was under the impression that the game was early access since it's the first chapter and it wasn't made clear to me that it wasn't the case. I'm looking into it, hopefully I'll get an answer.
Though I will say, even if the prodeus checkpoint thing doesn't change, it's still a cool game just like Prodeus is. Prodeus is still a strong recommendation because of how good so much of it is. I feel the same about Diluvian Ultra. It'll just be a shame if they can't at least balance it better.
@@Riverslidebishop I got a response and the devs are still going to be working on chapter 1, considering not just technical issues but gameplay as well. What that means is unclear but its something.
@@underthemayo Cool thanks for the update.
Still a bit unclear, but better than nothing.
Mayo talked about the story for like 45 full seconds. They must have paid him a million dollars. 😂 Get that bag Mayo!
Nah a great premise and unique universe is pretty much required, not bs story points around fetch quests holding your leg forever
“Harry Potters spin-off Shooter Boltgun” 😂🤣😆
It’s the dry delivery that truly got me.
Glad to see the Boltgun artstyle being used more. It's a really cool aesthetic.
This is more akin to Viscerafest I'd say
The art style looks awesome
This does look cool. The story is super good. Like better than starfield writing. Anyway i hope this game does turn out great!
To be fair, it's not terribly hard to have better writing than starfield.
@@Loathsome_Lynxhahaha
You always cover such unique games
These games continue to surprise me.
This one caught my attention. Hope devs pay attention to the constructive criticism and focus on rough edges. A lot of games with 'missed opportunity' curse could've used being more receptive and your channel usually provides just the right criticism and this is why indie games are always exciting and promising. Would love to see a full review on this on release.
We did not get that Darth Maul game but this looks a substitute. Dude looks exactly like him, complete with a lightsaber.
I see you're a fan of the Dread Templar soundtrack as well!
This game looks awesome. Definitely playing this game. There’s so many games coming out this year, and I’ll try to play all of them at the end of year.
Mayo is going places. Love to see it
Pretty cool looking game! Played the demo once in a Steam Next Fest and had a lot o fun!
Hey @UndertheMayo , I don't know if you've seen anything about WitchFire, but it's a super fast paced FPS RogueLite that was announced a LOOOONG time ago and it just came out in Early Access (Unfortunately an Epic Store exclusive). I'd love to see your thoughts on it. I think it looks freaking amazing, but I'm not sure I want to pay $40 for an early access game. Thanks!
Cant wait to watch your video about separate ways
THE MAD MAN AT IT AGAIN
I'M ALWAYS AT IT
i feel like developers dont understand the whole (even wen you respawn anything you did stays how it is) system well. i blame bioshock, sense even in those games it was still really flawed.
I remember playing the demo of this game months ago and I ended up quitting because I hated the movement. I like the general premise, the setting and art so I’m looking forward to trying it again later on.
This game's great, and I'm especially surprised by the quality of the writing.
the only thing thats bugging me about this game is the sprites, what i mean by that is some of the character sprites' pixel scales don't match to each other or the environment. some of them are big, some of them are small like they belong to different games and i do hope they re-do all the sprites to match each other and make the atmosphere feel more in-style
yeah these games with respawn points instead of checkpoints need to have a lives system or something to make it have a meaningful failure state. the indie retro fps INCISION has this but no respawn points, you just get back up where you were which has its own problems.
What's your opinion on Salad Fingers?
Ahead of its time.
I'll check out this out as I really like the art style but the demo during realmsdeep was a bit underwhelming and the Proteus save system is a gamekiller for me, I'll give it a shot later if they make changes.
Make sure to check out Fortune's Run!
Boomer shooters, please just let me save scum in peace
Commenting to help you in the algorithm.
Hear me out. I also think that if you were able to do something once, you would do it again with ease. That's why I like Prodeus and Diluvian checkpoint systems quite a bit. But their way of implementing this is still a bit frustrating, and here is why. You can't normally just send the player back to the location where he was killed; if the situation was too hard, neither can you send him there in the same "state," which could have led to his death. But what if we could? What if the death wasn't even met with a loading screen and was letting the player imbrace how hard he messed up by killing him instantaneously as many times as possible (maybe to the point where it's useless because of the total punishment) Another, more realistic possibility is to implement some kind of battle log that will allow you to use any point of the fight as a checkpoint according to some information such as health, shields, recharge, ammo, and maybe even threat amount calculated in some fancy way (I can also imagine some algorithm that can make a prognosis for the fight as it goes to make it easier to chose where you should start). I think this is definitely possible if there are some games like maximum action and well... uhmm... dota
What I hate about this checkpoint system is that it doesn't even allow to repeat a challenge if I want to. I have to restart the entire level for that.
It's spelled Attila...
The title is a bit nonsensical, but the game looks great
I get the Warhammer connection, but this really looks like Dark Souls in space.
The Prodius checkpoint system sucks!! Please game developers don't do this. Or give us an option for traditional checkpoints and infinite lives mode
I dont understand. I bought it played a couple hrs and just returned. Its very bad imo. Buy Fortunes Run instead. Came out yesterday and is incredible. The gameplay in DU is just a mess. Really confusing to me why mayo would ever promote this considering how strict he is about shooters. I understand sponsorships but come on. Just play Nightmare Reaper instead.
It's pretty clear from the video. I find the armor weapon system to be interesting. The later levels become more ambitious and the puzzle element shows promise for later chapters. I say in the video that it takes a while to find its rhythm and you said you only played a couple hours so you didn't see what I see because I too was not that interested by the opening few levels.
@@underthemayo come on man. In the first 5 minutes its beyond clear that the core fps mechanics are plain bad. Just think that would be worth mentioning in your video considering your branding as a mechanics task master. Youve given waay better games a much harder time.
@@CAVEDATA I completely disagree with the mechanics being bad. If i felt that way I would have rejected the offer to do the video as I have with other games that I didn't enjoy.
@@underthemayo ok well then i have totally misunderstood your entire philosophy of fps mechanics somehow. Feels like an expression of personality made by someone who isnt very interested in shooters. For me it was the most flat experience i have had in the years since the shootboom boom shooted its way on computers. Do check out Fortunes Run. Its another level.
@@CAVEDATA I think you're being pretty dramatic. I like one shooter that you don't and suddenly you've misunderstood my entire philosophy of fps mechanics.
Good Morning Mayo.
You are healthy, yes?
There is discrepancy with your finances…
I see you take money from suspicious Indie Group
I think it best you come with me…
Glory to ‘AAA’rstotzka.
I played the demo in 2021 if I remember correctly, did not like how it felt to play. I wonder how much it has changed, if any, but if you're saying it's not in early access and it doesn't even have real music... I think I'll pass for now
