I am a 38 year old U.S male and first generation that will being going to this city for the first time. I have family I have never met that lives there. I have never been to Central Europe. I’m excited to meet the people and culture of my parents.
Košice is a small and large city at the same time. with a population of almost 240,000 it is a modern multinational city with a rich history. it is the largest urban historical reservation in slovakia, it hosts the oldest marathon in europe and the third oldest in the world, the coat of arms of Košice is the oldest documented city coat of arms in Europe. there is a lot of green in Košice, there are many cultural events, zoo is one of the largest in Europe, in winter you can ski practically on the city border... Košice is a city of young people - there are many universities and many young people live here...
Thanks for the lovely walking tour of this beautiful city - Kosice goes onto my European travel list! I especially loved your aeriel shots of the city, which allowed us to admire the extraordinary cathedral from all angles.
I've walked these streets since before the curtain fell and the change has been spectacular! Thank you for sharing this video and I pray that I get back there one day in the not too distant future.
I'm from Liverpool, England. I visited Kosice from 30/11/2022-03/12/2022. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The locals were helpful and welcoming, and the attractions you've listed were all spectacular. The golden treasure was remarkable!

Hi Dina, yes, it’s somewhat of a hidden gem of a city. I truly enjoyed my stay there and yes, of course I had some lovely Slovakian food in some of the restaurants on Main Street there. I highly recommend 👍😊

David Dobrik was born here, Angelina Jolie's family from her dad's side was from here. :) By the way, this is Central Europe, not Eastern Europe .... St Elisabeth Cathedral is the easternmost western Gothic church in Europe. You wouldn't find Gothic churches in Easterm Europe - they have Orthodox churches over there.......... The architecture in the city or entire Slovakia is definitely not anything typical for Eastern Europe

Hi Vladimir, I only visited the city center during my stay in Kosice. I understand Lunik IX houses the largest Romani population in Slovakia. I did come across some Romani settlements during my trip in the country but not in Kosice
I would have to check out the 400 year old pizza restaurant…I expected you to find an ice cream shop. The night fountain was really fun. I think this would be a place I would be interested in going to. Thanks again….
+ when you look from the sky to Košice you can see that is is like a eye the katedrála is the eyeris, and there legent that the katedrála is standing on a gold brick that when you pull it the katedrála falls :)
My grandparents and great grandparents and all my mom side was from what was Czechsolvkia , thiers towns now where the boarder of both Czech 🇨🇿 and Slovakia 🇸🇰, so I had to look up their towns on a map to know if I'm Czech 🇨🇿? Or Slovakia 🇸🇰? Lololol 😅 I'm Czech, but way in love with this town Kosice , I'm definitely going with my mom bff she from Bratislava ❤️😁. My grandparents would be so happy to see what happened to both countries. They were invaded by Germany. This is the only reason I'm a Czech-American 🇨🇿🇸🇰🇺🇸❤️

Hello! How did you get permission to fly over the cathedral? I want to try too, but zone of authorization in DJI maps doesn’t want to give me acception, cause of Airport near. And I read that it isn’t possible to fly higher than 30 meters with category A1. Please Can you help me?

it's actually the easternmost western gothic cathedral.... The architecture is Western - it's Gothic and typical for Roman catholicism, but it's location is the easternmost. There are of course many Gothic churches and basilicas to the East of Košice, but none of them is a Cathedral.

Geographically you are correct, but here in Europe we say Eastern, Western, and sometimes Northern when we mention places like Norway and Finland. Everything east of Germany, Austria, and Italy is considered Eastern Europe.
