Actually I feel like this is him giving rini attention as a couple, the conclusion of season 1 wrote them into somewhat a fairy tale-ish couple, which would have been fine if it stopped there. But now that there's season 2 AND potential further renewal (they are canonically juniors I think?), a fairy tale couple is actually very very difficult to write good stories around since there just isn't much haha. I have a strong feeling that after they have grown a bit more as individuals they may be able to reconcile and figure out a way to move forward with each other in mind

Yeah, they both need to find out who they are beyond their relationship. Ricky needs to stop using Nini as a crutch and backup therapist. Using a person as your rock is not only harmful to her but for Ricky's own mental health. Nini needs to find herself and truly step outside everyone's opinions of her- the rose song was her first step in validating herself. And they both need to get better at communicating their feelings.
I like it better when they're not together. I feel when Nini/Nina decided to move back and find herself, she stopped thinking about her relationship with Ricky. Without even saying it she let go. I like that she's venturing into her music but she let her relationship with Ricky just fall to the wayside--I wish she could've just broken it off sooner, instead of us having to watch Ricky fight for a relationship that wasn't there anymore/run after someone who was no longer interested. Ricky also became too dependant on Nini. He needs to be able to be himself without her/figure out who he is. He put too much pressure in keeping the relationship that it suffocated both parties. They are two people who are currently incompatible. But who knows, they might grow into becoming a non toxic endgame.
can we talk about how everyone in the show is focused on ricky in the breakup and not nini. like i get he’s been through a lot and is actually showing emotions but just because nini is acting ok doesn’t mean she is. she clearly isn’t with her writer’s block and hesitation to taking off the necklace. i feel like next season nini my blow up with all the emotions she’s been bottling up yk
I love how at least one character in almost every show makes a life changing decision that they chose themselves and then 1 or 2 episodes later they be like: i change my mind it just doesn't feel right, and not realize that its not all about them and they can't always change their decisions when its already a done deal-

Ricky was honestly getting on my nerves near the end of their relationship. Since he made it seem like him and Nini just couldn’t be apart . Then I realized he was going through a lot. His parents divorced really affected him. I just think he handles his feelings poorly and leads to problems not only with Nini. I’m not saying what he did is right but I understand why he is doing it. I will be fine if they do not get back together this season as of right now.
