I thought she was quite charming. A confident person largely no doubt due to good sensible loving parents. I loved Steptoe & Son, who didn't. RIP Harold.

From the chuckle comedies to the shoulder shaking laugh out loud. Rising Damp, Man about the house, George & Mildred, Terry & June, Butterlies, Rise & Fall of Reginald Perrin, The Good Life, Fawlty Towers to name just a handful.

Harry passed away too early and he was really missed . A graet actor , who gave us one of the most wonderful , funniest comedies in british tv history . nothing on the bbc comes close to it , NOTHING ! Two amazing and entertaining characters .
I grew up with him in step toe and son he was part of the great British t.v. that all house holds loved so much he was so loved, and my daughter loves to watch carry on screaming now in 2021 he was such a fantastic actor

I once lived in France for about 10 years, 2 of which saw me fight off a major depression - nothing to do with where I was and for reasons I'll not explain here. But what truly helped pull me through was having delivered a few series' of Steptoe & Son - you might say I felt a need to return to my childhood for a time. Harry H. Corbett, to this day, I thank you, thank you, and thank you. And to this day you STILL have the power to mesmerize me in scenes I must have viewed a million times over. To the greatest British comedy actor, God bless!
The facial expression when he sat at his chair eating his favourite allsorts was just inspired. That was the episode when Albert was laid up in bed. RIP Harry. Brought joy to our whole family in tough times.
I bought a house in Lydney, Glos. my first visit to the multi practice doctors had me sitting in Dr. Brambles surgery. Looking at my address on the form he asked how the apple tree was going. Then explained he sold his orchard to the developer, he followed that with a joke. Yes he was Wilfred Brambles brother and jokes came every visit, one was so good I forgot why I come in, so he told me some more until I remembered. I loved watching Steptoe and Son, some of the scrapes they got into were so true to life. Great memories.

The sort of daughter any father would be proud of, talking fondly about a man who was clearly an inspirational and supportive father, as well as the talented actor that we already knew.
I'm certainly a fan of The Bargee, though I initially didn't understand where the film was coming from - an unhurried record of a vanishing lifestyle and the problems of friction amongst a community because of it - indeed I'm sure it's fundamentally misunderstood by a lot of folk.
And Fawlty Towers. But pretty amazing in that it was only the two actors that pretty much occupied the whole show or most of it for all of those episodes. Impossible to duplicate, like Dad's Army and Fawlty Towers.
The warmth and love she exudes is beautiful. My old dad died when I was 14 so I kind of know how she feels, a bit bewildering. One minute he's there and the next minute he's gone.
WOW. In 1976/77 I was a waiter at a Motel in Chichester. Harry H Corbett came in for lunch with his wife and his 2 kids. And one of them must have been Susannah. Harry was a lovely man. They all sat down. I think Susannah was a bit restless. Harry said, "Give them what they want and I'll have a rare steak and chips. Give me a shout when it's ready." He went outside to have a smoke of a cigar on his own. When I went to call him in, I found him by his car which was a lovely Rolls Royce. Beige I think. Beautiful man. Bug tip. Never forget him.

Some of my best tv watching memories was of watching Steptoe & Son with the family, then repeating some of our favourite phrases from it. I loved to make my sister and mother laugh. My dream job would be being a comedy character actor.
Quite often I have heard Susannah Corbett in plays on the radio and wondered if she looked like her dad. And now I know she does! How sad she was only thirteen when he died. Lovely what she says about him being “a good man”.

When the original series was on I watched it with my father, the later repeats I watched with my daughter.

Quite often I have heard Susannah Corbett in plays on the radio and wondered if she looked like her dad. And now I know she does! How sad she was only thirteen when he died. Lovely what she says about him being “a good man”.
