I went to college with her in Eastbourne back in the 80s. We were in a production of A Midsummers Night Dream. Su Corbett played Puck. I was one of the mechanicals (Flute). Bottom was played by Miltos Yerolemou, who was later in Black Books and Game of Thrones.

@King Royal My goodness that is a very angry & unnecessary comment. Comedy is for enjoyment & not to be over analysed plus if you found it offensive then you were free to either turn off the tv or change channels. Miss Corbett lost her father at just 13 years of age which is very tragic & to wish someone death who has done absolutely nothing to you is very sinister, disturbed & perhaps you ought to be looking at yourself & your own shortcomings.

British tv in the 60's & 70's were awash with brilliantly well written & well acted comedies. The list is positively endless. Comedic geniuses in abundance. From the chuckle comedies to the shoulder shaking laugh out loud. I once lived in France for about 10 years, 2 of which saw me fight off a major depression - nothing to do with where I was and for reasons I'll not explain here. But what truly helped pull me through was having delivered a few series' of Steptoe & Son - you might say I felt a need to return to my childhood for a time.
Harry H. Corbett, to this day, I thank you, thank you, and thank you. And to this day you STILL have the power to mesmerize me in scenes I must have viewed a million times over.

I bought a house in Lydney, Glos. my first visit to the multi practice doctors had me sitting in Dr. Brambles surgery. Looking at my address on the form he asked how the apple tree was going. Then explained he sold his orchard to the developer, he followed that with a joke. Yes he was Wilfred Brambles brother and jokes came every visit, one was so good I forgot why I come in, so he told me some more until I remembered.
I loved watching Steptoe and Son, some of the scrapes they got into were so true to life. Great memories.

They all sat down. I think Susannah was a bit restless. Harry said, "Give them what they want and I'll have a rare steak and chips. Give me a shout when it's ready." He went outside to have a smoke of a cigar on his own. When I went to call him in, I found him by his car which was a lovely Rolls Royce. Beige I think. Beautiful man. Bug tip. Never forget him.

For a daughter to speak about her father in such a lovely kind way only goes to show what a brilliant man he must’ve been

She has her Father's eyes, and comes across as a lovely, warm friendly person. I just loved this programme to bits, but sadly today it would not be politically correct in so many ways. Just as "Till Death Us Do Part" even more so would be rejected for various reasons.

Lovely interview,. makes you realise what real comedy actors were made of and what a lovely daughter he has. So sad he went so soon. Modern day "actors" "wannabes" " wannahaves" and "reality types" take a good hard look at real talent and see what it looks like,. can you say youll be remembered like HHC,.........? NO CHANCE !

Carry on Screaming! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Harry Corbett was an amazing actor, and taken from us all far too soon! His daughter is the double of him, and he would be so proud of her that's for sure! RIP Harry xo

The way she say's "and it never left me" at 4:09, that's surely a mannerism she inherited of her father.

A national treasure if ever there was one, and his daughter seems like a fine decent woman.
What she said at the end about him being a good man should not be overlooked it has the very fiber of everything a human must have to harness love and respect from others.

Some of my best tv watching memories was of watching Steptoe & Son with the family, then repeating some of our favourite phrases from it. I loved to make my sister and mother laugh. My dream job would be being a comedy character actor.

Quite often I have heard Susannah Corbett in plays on the radio and wondered if she looked like her dad. And now I know she does! How sad she was only thirteen when he died. Lovely what she says about him being “a good man”.
