Rossen Report: Why You Should Write Your Name Backwards When Turbulence Hits Your Plane | TODAY
0:53 Palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
MOM'S SPAGHETTI
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
Zinedine Prime To drop bombs but he keeps on forgetting
What he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
No turbulence isn't what we mainly fear lol. It's crashing
dave m why tho
airplanes are the safest way of traveling, airplane crashes are just more dramatic and covered in the news
too bad you have a much better chance of dying driving to the airport than you do flying your entire life. have fun being an irrational cave man :)
Yes people I know flying is safer than driving but my original comment was what we mainly fear when in a plane. Just stating facts
dave m why don't you fear dying when in a car? it's a fact that a pilot is more experienced flying than you relative to your driving experience. there should be no fear. you are factually safest in an airplane.
Using your *other hand* is NOT "Writing your name backwards"
Carmen Gutierrez I'm both left and right handed , do I just die?
Carmen Gutierrez true😂😂😂 but if I do write my name backwards it's the same!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Aya Obayashi same😂
Carmen Gutierrez that's what I was thinking 😂
Rubin Chavarria use your mouth
I am married to an airline pilot, a Captain, and I have the worlds worst case of fear when flying. It drives him nuts that he cannot reason me through this. I know turbulence cannot bring a plane down. He tells me to concentrate on the FACT that the plane is still flying through it. It hasn't stopped, it isn't suspended in mid air, it is flying THROUGH the turbulence and soon it will be over. It is like bumps in the road. I have to repeat that to myself over and over. Sometime's it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Tina Brown Keep in mind how little type plane ACTUALLY moves. Sever turbulence shouldn't exceed drops of 50 feet.
I will keep that in mind nxt time i fly....the plane is still flying thru it
it happens every day, as often as the weather changes, which is minutely. I’m a private pilot, married to an airline pilot and have spent 25 years in the Air Force. There’s nothing abnormal or indicative of lack of pilot competence, which is exactly how your comment sounded. I’m guessing you’ve not crossed the pacific if you aren’t familiar with serious turbulence.
her palms are sweaty
knees weak, arms are heavy
B. Qian Music eating mom spaghetti she nervous
There's vomit on her sweater already, moms spaghetti she's nervous
Roasted Rocker on the ground she looked calm and ready to get high up in the air
B. Qian Music moms spaghetti
B. Qian Music MOM SPAGHET
He didn't say to write her name backwards. He said to write it with her non-dominant hand. The title of the video is incorrect.
littlerosa he said both.
ultragaze Uh, nope. All the captain said was to put the pen in her opposite hand and write her name.
littlerosa your right
littlerosa usually when you write with your non dominant hand, you tend towrite some or even all of the letters backwards. take it from some one with experience: me
Who does that? No one writes backwards with their non dominant hand, you concentrate on it so you don't I dunno whatv planet you live on
The title made me thing that somehow it would be easier to identify your body once the plane hits the ground :D
Johannes Schardt same
Johannes Schardt the TRAIN?
Johannes Schardt same 😂
😂😂😂😂
Wait, the TRAIN??
Always wear your seat belts when you are seated regardless whether the seat belt sign is off or on.
So just rip the entire seat out of the plane when you have to get off?
Shane LeGrand.....smart people understand what I mean, dumb ones don't. Glad there are 57 who gets it.
etrnlygr8tful Smart people also understand sarcasm.
etrnlygr8tful hi pls sub to me I'll sub back
imagine playing the song free falling on a plane
So.. what if your name is Lana?
Popapolapso The potato I
LOL
or if your name is kid
Popapolapso The potato or Suna
join the mile high club
1957: In 2017 theres gonna be flying cars!
2017: Write your name backwards during turbulance
Amazotic 2017: Fidget spinners are discovered!
brayen brian a sad day in history
Amazotic no we got spinners
Technically planes are flying cars because planes can drive and fly
🤣🤣😅😅
Funny, i know someone who is afraid of flying but drives his car after drinking. I can't understand people's logic sometimes.
IKR, an old colleague of mine once drove drunk, despite not only being uninsured but also having NEVER learnt how to drive in the first place. #smh
Amaechi Jones 💀😂😂 #smh #💀💀
RubenBababa Baba They control it. They don't depend on anyone else. They trust themselves.
Control Issues
RubenBababa Baba he thinks that he controls the car but not the plane
I hate flying only because my ears pop a lot
Sania Lorene cuz of air pressure.
rub the openings of your ears, really helps
Sania Lorene iiii
Chewing gum helps a lot
Ashton Cofer it usually doesn't work with me but maybe because I don't use peppermint and minty stuff
CP 9 thank you I will try that next time
That plane isn't realistic at all, those seats had wayyyyyy too much foot room
folieaphan i think the joke was that normal planes have barely any foot room
and Where is the crying kid you always hear?
The real problem is you are just to tall.
There is no way that is first class lol
Have you ever been on a plane's first class?
Did she say her palms are sweaty? Are her knees weak, arms heavy? Is the vomit on her sweater already? Wait that's mom's spaghetti!
I went into the comments to search for the vomit on her sweater
Bob Eskimo lol I was thinking to write that
Bob Eskimo I was looking for this!!!😂😂😂😂
Rabid Dog LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO
Rabid Dog SOMEONE TOUCHA MY SPAGETT
You wanna know how to keep from getting thrown on the ground if there's severe turbulence? Keep your seatbelt on when the light goes on....I see so many people who would take their seatbelts off the second they get off the ground, and then look scared for their life when you hit a bump even though the seatbelt light is still on.
Isn't the title wrong.. you write with your other hand.. Not backwards ..
Prettyflyforawhitegirl both would have the same effect bringing your focus to the writing and away from the turbulence. If you want to, try writing your name backwards with your non-dominant hand. Not many people can do that.
Oscar Blanco *handist
Oscar Blanco ohh you're trying to be funny
Dunder Mifflin he isnt trying.
he is already funny
I was your 1000th like!
I'm not afraid of turbulence that much
I'm afraid of dying
TinyAwkward Gaming You can die walking down the road or in a car at any time but you dont see people look worried so what so different about flying which is easily the safest mode of transportation. People are so irrational.
Mihai Varzar good point
TinyAwkward Gaming I'm not afraid of death, just the process of dying.
Nyrad :D Ima afraid of like wut happens after death just think about it deeply for a sec..... dun dun dun dun dun dun jeopardy music dun und udnsoshwisc
I'm afraid that the pen or the straw could accidentally stab an eye during turbulence
you're more likely to get in a car crash than an airplane crash...
EverythingEmma ur cute
Cloud155 she's 14 years old...... CHRIS HANSEN!
unknown unknown how do you know my age
EverythingEmma I have no idea.
unknown unknown wtf😂😂
My name is Lana do I really have to right it backwards?
.
Im_SmilEyYT HAHHA
no, with your non dominant hand
David J did you understand the joke?
i did lol
I would go to the simulator but I would have to fly to get there 😂😂😂
Jude The Dude 😂😂
I cured mine by just reading and watching videos on how planes work. So by having knowledge on what's going on and understanding it helps take away my anxiety. I also pray for everything situation I'm in, good or bad.
K.A Younge-Lipscomb
Yes! The cure to fear is knowledge.
Though that still doesn't help me with spiders. I can handle the small ones, but those large ones make me lose my head.
K.A Younge-Lipscomb This helps me with the London underground, knowledge is my power
K.A Younge-Lipscomb yes! I'm exactly the same!
I read (from a pilot's blog) that they don't even bat an eye at turbulence. The most annoying thing is if it spills their coffee. That really calmed me down about it all.
Prayer definitely helps
Sammy what blog was that? would love to read it
I probably shouldn't be watching this the night before my first flight
Danny Swanson Flying is fine, it just gets some getting used too.
The Takeoff is a little bit frightening because the engines make A LOT of noise and you feel pressure in your back because you are going up. Just like an elevator, but the elevator going up many times faster. When you finally reach cruise altitude you'll feel a falling sensation, but that's your body adapting to the change in acceleration and gravity. The engines will be quieter and the rest of the flight will be just fine unless you experience turbulence. It's not that bad really. You'll probably will never experience something higher than regular turbulence.
Danny Swanson I hope you have a wonderful safe flight, God bless
Danny Swanson same
how was your flight?
I'm too busy vomiting into a bag to worry about a little turbulence
Aleron Adams people like you are the reason I'm terrified of flying. I'm not scared of dying (seriously) but I'm extremely emetophobic
Aleron Adams motion sickness? yeah me too, never been on a plane though but even a 5 minute car ride can get me ill
Rebecca Wu sameeeeeee
Rebecca Wu i was too
Rebecca Wu SAMEEEEE
palms are sweaty, KNEES WEAK ARMS ARE HEAVY
MOOOOMM SPAGHETTIIIII
getting on a plane on Saturday morning. The beginning of this video with clips of severe turbulence didn't help my anxiety. But the lat statement, "Turbulence can't bring a plane down. Never has, never will" made me feel so much better!
Flying is the safest mode of transportation 😂
It's safer than traveling by car
But what people are scared of is that 1% chance that something does go wrong. And when it does, there's almost nothing you can do about it lol
horsesgiveuswings23 true
horsesgiveuswings23 it is not 1 percent because that would mean 1 out of 100 flights crash every single day but i got what you said lol
The chance of a flight crashing is 1 in 1 million
Eh. Just pop a Xanax.
drinkallthesunshine FOR REAL!!! lol
drinkallthesunshine fn dead 💀💀😂😂
that's what Chris cornell did...............
+Mr Bleach not cool man not cool
American tuturuu what didn't he take Xanax?
What if you're ambidextrous?
xXx_Mtn_Dew_xXx time to pop off a shoe and sock
Syber Woof I am ambidextrous and I can also write with my feet
put that mouth to work!
what if you choke with ur pen? better use your nose then
xXx_Mtn_Dew_xXx then you are like spongebob
Why is he smiling when he is telling us bad news?
Welcome to the new era of news.
This and many other things have changed from half a century ago; I mean for one we used to be able to trust the news. They used to be mostly unbiased and wouldn’t report anything that wasn’t true or was just an opinion yet they present it as a fact.
(During turbulace)..."your captain is speaking, I want everyone to take out a pen and paper to write down your name backwards." " but don't forget to use your non dominant hand" ..piolet out✌
How the heck am I supposed to write my name backwards....my names ava
Ava Green You're screwed
Mick Brisbane lmfao
Last name
Hi Ava, I'm Anna... Same problem
write it as avA
I'm ambidextrous and my name is spelled the same way forwards and backwards...
You're fcked
Hannah Palmer Well what's Lana backwards?
I don't know why I read "ambidextrous" backwards...
😂
мσσиιє ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ do u have dyslexia?
I wonder if the guy waving in the outro knew he was going to be in every single one of their UA-cam videos
Turbulence happens :what it feels like to chew 5 gum
Diego Bernard LOL
when I was 4 or 5, I went to Australia and had the worst turbulence. At the time, we were eating ice-cream and it seemed as if it just flew up to the ceiling. Turns out, it was the plane dropping and the turbulence lasted for what felt like ages. I've also had pretty bad turbulence on the way back from Turkey.
Palms are sweaty, mom's spaghetti
Mom's belt is ready, and it's really scary.
Hunter Beutow dressed all nice all edgy
I hate flying, but I hate it more when I fly by myself. I'm always scared that the plane is gonna crash
happy trash When it's your time to go, it's your time to go no matter where you are or on.
This sounds horrible, but when I got depressed (I'm still are a little bit) I just completely lost the fear of flying. I literally don't care anymore the plane, the airline, the route, or even the weather. It is just a peaceful ride for me now.
happy trash I feel safer alone because I know that if anything did go wrong at least my family will be safe.
take the family with me if I'm dying they're going with me
Michael Goode well that's reassuring
ok so write your name whilst being flown around in the airplane lmao
It's seatbelts
Eltic your arms doesn't have a seatbelt so it would shake a lot
This barely happens....They take two events that happened out of the millions of flights that take place each year and make it seem like it happens all the time.
Delbert Su they do that all the time for these lifestyle segments. It's annoying.
I can't spell my name backwards...
Samoth asa
Offcial Pandaz samoht*
Asa Thomas mine is nasah. I should go to space...
me too..
Asa Thomas Bryana || anayrB
This is on the ground, most people would handle that but different story when you are in the air 😬
So don't fly!! Get back on your horse and carriage and enjoy the long haul
Let's get to that land bridge! We'll have to go back in time though ;-;
Does it come with the oh surreal invasive TSA experience as well?
kidfrom1981 I hear it also comes with a complimentary "Being dragged off a plane" experience as well. no charge.
LOL XD
My dad is a pilot, so I've been flying since I was born. My first flight alone, I was four years old. I've taken off in some of the most severe weather, including snowstorms and tornadoes around the city. I also have severe anxiety. But, never about flying, because I know it's one of the safest ways of transportation. Pilots have to get their license renewed every few years; therefore, they're better at piloting a plane than most people are driving a car. And as said, turbulence has never taken down a plane and cannot take down a plane. If you're worried about turbulence, some of the best things you can do is to stay in your seat, with your seatbelt fastened and your carry-on items properly stored. Don't move about the cabin unless you absolutely have to. And please, don't scream. It makes everyone else around you nervous and they can start to panic too. Take deep breaths, and know that you're in good hands. To everyone who is flying for the first time, I hope you have a wonderful flight! ❤️
This 100% doesn't help that I'm gonna go on a plane tomorrow😂😂
But my name is Anna...
Anna DiPasquale then u have to write annA
jeremy western salty
Anna DiPasquale he never said to write your name backwards he just said to write your name with your other hand
TheJolly Person lol ik I just thought it would be funny
Anna DiPasquale I need healing
I should not be watching this in a airport :))
Olivia & Carys watch Air Crash Investigation. It really calms the nerves before a flight.
Olivia & Carys I am going on holiday in 2 days 😂😂
"My palms are sweaty" she said... I'm like "KNEES WEAK ARMS ARE HEAVY!"😂
"Vomit on his sweater already moms spaghetti"
I have aviophobia and i have to go to a plane this summer because I have to visit my grandparents since I've never met them. May god be with me 😔
I once lightened the mood by saying "i've never been more catholic than I am right now" 😂😂😂 needless to say everyone on the plane laughed
The way I got over my fear of plane crashes was to actually watch videos of plane crashes. Instead of making me more scared, it showed me that it takes an absolutely insane amount of abuse to knock one out of the air. Rough weather is nothing to them. Now turbulence doesn't bother me.
Hello to all the good people who make this world better. Have a fabulous life!! x
I used to be really scared of turbulence and being on planes, now it feels normal and sometimes I do get a bit frightened by really bad turbulence. Next Monday will be my 4th time flying by myself and I'm only 14!
Darn it!! My name is race car
my name is Hannah
:/
Take A Walk With Me my name is Hannah so to bad for us
as long as im not dying alone. im not scared
I love the feeling of turbulence!! thats half the fun of flying!
Cody Zimmer lol sameeee
crazies
My grandpa has a Cherokee 6 you can really feel it especially if it's windy!
Take off is the best part!
Cody Zimmer yeah samw
I was on a flight to D.C. as a school trip, and it was my first time on a plane ever. There was real bad turbulence, but I didn't know, so the entire time was laughing and I looked over at my friends and they were freaking out because they never had turbulence that bad
Okay my dad is a pilot and my mom was a flight attendant. They experience a TON of turbulences. Once on my dads flight a suitcase fell on a flight attendant (who was helping a scared flyer) and broke or fractured her arm. I’m not usually a scared flyer but if its a bad turbulence I’ll be scared to death.
0:53 "... my palms are sweaty"
me: *" knees weak, arms are heavey. there's vomit on his sweater already. Mom's spaghetti! "*
Okay that's fine my name is Ava
The revenge of United Airlines...
What about that feeling you get in your stomach ?
Regurgitate your stomach so that it comes out of your mouth
Carthism have your stomach removed surgically
The reason I have anxiety about planes is because the altitude or atmosphere (or something like that) makes my ears hurt _severely_ , I am not someone who will cry easily bit put me on a plane about an hour-2 hours in I'll be cryin like a baby cause my ears hurt so much.
Have you tried eating gum? I have really sensitive ears too, but chewing always helps me. Also the more you fly, the easier it gets on your ears as well. They get used to it.
FoofyIsCool I hear you man I hear you. My ears don't pop at all until about 1 hour after landing. Sometimes though, try chewing gum. Holding your nose closed and mouth and try and squeeze air out of your ear. Sounds weird and I can't really explain it much better. Try yawning too. Only sometimes do those work for me and I hope you can use them so you don't have tot be in pain. Good luck
flew thru tornado(s!!) 12-15 yrs ago on way to FL; even men were screaming. Last off the plane I walked up to door as mechanics RAN on and told pilots "your rudder's BENT". NEVER forget the look on all their faces. Flying I WAS comfortable with suddenly became a new reality.
If your a car guy takeoff is the best cus it feels like a pull
Or you could just solve a rubiks cube
Letthemeatmacarons Forever that's the only reason I got through my flight
lovingchicken10 I can solve a rubiks cube, and I can't try to solve it without the algorithems I know now. How would this help ME? XD
Letthemeatmacarons Forever But it takes me 20 seconds on average to solve it, what good use is that?
Min Zhao yeah exactly!
Guys! 😂 I know people solve Rubik's cubes really fast, both my brothers can solve it in *under* 20 seconds. This was meant for the people who have never done it, like me.
Ugh, I fly in two weeks. Why did I watch this?!
Stephanie Mukai ayyy I fly in 10 days
Stephanie Mukai I fly in 6 days!!! I seriously hate flying so much
Lol them trying to talk while the plane is just shaking and she’s writing her name
Me hours before getting on a plane: *watching worst plane crashes/accidents and worst things that can happen on a plane*
I'm not afraid of turbulence that much
I'm afraid of crash
Other people are so scared but I just wanna go on a vacation.. it's been 2 years, and I finally can go on a vacation next year so excited
Poptart ._. Godess Next year NEXT FREAKING YEAR TOO LONG
SnowieRain lmao
SnowieRain well atleast I don't have to wait 2 years but it is still long...
Poptart ._. Godess yea true
.
0:53 knees weak, arms are heavy, theres vomit on my sweater already, mums spaghetti
Ben Capin on the surface she looks calm and ready to drop bombs but she keeps on forgetting the whole crowd goes so loud
I have an on and off fear of flying. I would fly to and from my summer house for vacation every year. Some flights would be a cake walk, others I would be so anxious and "scared". It wasn't turbulence that caused it though.
You just got to make sure you are good and plastered before you get onto the plane. Calms the nerves everytime.
OML I'm from Thailand and I'm going on a plane to Bangkok and I'm scared now
Emmyy xoxoxo I hope you have a wonderful flight
no response, plane must've crashed
me: Feels earthquake ....If its my time to go Its my time to go 😏
I actually like tubulance it reminds me of this really fun roller coaster I went on with my classmates I was really close with my class and we were all really good friends I barely see them so the turbulence gives me a warm feeling inside
I'm not a nervous flyer. Precisely because it's out of my hands, I feel liberated. Whereas in my regular life I tend to be anxious and ruminate because I have to decide what to say, how to act, what decisions to make - and the consequences of all those decisions are on me. In a plane, the equipment is going to do what it's going to do independent of anything I do. The crew is going to do what it can to keep me safe. If we're going to crash and die, then so be it. What I can do in a flight emergency is limited and clearly spelled out for me - know the exits, wear seatbelt, use oxygen masks if it pops out, etc.
I just got back from school camp today and on the plane it was really bad turbulence and my best friend thought she was gonna die,I felt so bad and gave her a big hug
I guess it won’t help me
What if you don't have pen and paper
I wouldn't be worrying about turbulance if youre on United
This is probably the worst thing to watch when you're about to fly alone this week
Know what helps more than writing your name? Hearing him say "turbulence has never brought down a plane and never will" :p
Ummm my name is Aja so what should I do
I though this was gonna be some superstitious sh*t
0:53 MOMS SPEGHETTI
Am I the only one who enjoys the whole airport/flying experience and loves turbulence?
The problem is, severe turbulence can occur, "out of nowhere", yet no one wears their seat belt (in fact as soon as the tiny bell rings & the belt light goes out, you can hear the clicking of the seat belts all through the cabin). My husband has worked most of his life in the aerospace industry &, in at least 3 flights I've been on with him, he had the captain notified of faults which should have grounded the 'plane. Each of the conversations went the same way. My husband explains the fault & gives reason why 'plane should be checked by engineers or grounded. Captain gives (cough) excellent reasons for flying anyway (late for lunch in Barcelona.... that kind of important reason). Only once, the engineers were called out to fix an issue he spotted &, the aircraft was indeed grounded. Frankly, I have barely any faith left in most consumer airlines or their staff. Anything that keep a 'plane grounded rather than flying is a financial loss for them, enough said...........
Get a fidget spinner instead
lol I love flying
Just stay in the washroom.
Cringy Indians No it is more dangerous there.
The title says "why you should write backwards" while the video itself is about writing with your left hand
I might be weird for this but i find turbulences fun as long as they aren't life threatening
We're gonna ALLAH AKBAR this plane unless morty gets good grades
Until planes don’t crash I’ll never get over flying
This happened to me before and the plane captain didn't explain to us what happened until we landed like an hour later. Our plane dove down and everyone was screaming it was terrible. Our plane was diving under another plane since we where on their course.
People who enjoy rollercoasters must be having the time of their lives during turbulence.
that pilot knows everything
I'm not afraid of turbulence, just fear of heights.
