It's a beautiful interpretation of Brutalism. Use of wood and Indian touches certainly makes it more homey than the otherwise perceived notion of Brutalism. Thanks for this video
this type of architecture isnt for everyone only people with unique taste can appreciate it. though the finished product does seem to have its lil shortfalls but i personally liked the overall designs and shapes. i guess this design can also be remade with brick plus concrete structure to reduce cost
I know it's BRUTALISM... But those walls could do with a coat of paint.. apart from elevating the mood, the paint would only prolong the life. Beautiful Design btw
During rainy season, for the open spaces on the ceiling meant for natural sunlight , doesn't the rain water enter inside? Curious to know how it is taken care of?
This is why courtyard has soil based real trees. Any rainwater is naturally used up. There might be some provisions to optionally close courtyard during rainy season too.
The twists and contortions to up the so called sustainability and social impacts of this house detract from its achievement. The “local artisan” input is probably less than 1% of the project budget. The sustainability of concrete is non existent; no matter how many times you mention rain water and grey water harvesting that is a fact that cannot be changed. Having said that, I actually really like the design, and wondering how well this could be hybridised with rammed earth / stabilised mud blocks. That could reduce the sunken energy component significantly. It’s probably the most beautiful neo-brutalist residential project I’ve seen.
Sorry but this plan looks like a "school library+canteen+gathering area" design which has been "Chipkao" to client as a house plan...too much cement concrete that too in Ahmedabad...even the grass and plants are drying out.
The word ugly is very subjective...everybody has the right to express and convey their 2 cents but calling something straight out ugly is something that could have been avoided...like the architects mentioned...it was very brave and bold of the clients to get onboard with the vision. It is about time We Indians need to be more experimental with our houses...instead of asking your designers to copy that exact element from your neighbors house, help them understand your ideas thoroughly..

A wonderful project
Brilliant design 🎉🎉
I guess it's unique taste. Surely not for everyone. But great work from Grid Architects.

Probably tempered glass used in ceiling open spaces

Moreover ahmedabad doesn't receive very high rainfall as a Mumbai, bangalore , Chennai or a kolkata would
true and also trees in interior for moisture keeping idk cause ahmedabad has lots of moisture whole summer and monsoon
Wow , beautiful and artistic .
It's so SUPERB, New fresh and each room with privacy, airey, light, it's like a non maintenance dream house, sir send your Office address
6:02 - so basically the son swimming in his room - everyone in living room will be able to see him from down below..
This project is great concept wise but in my opinion this could use more natural lighting,
There were spaces which were completely dark in the house

Can't say much, everyone have their own taste...
Brutalised Architecture was hated throughout modern history. This is however though 21 century brutalism, looks better than most of the older ones.
Layout shows north-west entrance but narrated as south-west entrance, am I missing out anything..?
Modern cave
i had some diff idea after reading brutalist
Somebody took The Fountainhead too seriously.
beautiful
superb
Is it only me ....Or... Arnab goswami is also an architect the nation wants to know
Kinda different architect. I’ve seen such house first time in my life. Though i like it but my mom wouldn’t like this.
Fu*king magnificent 👍
Looks like 'Library in The Woods'
how much is the construction cost for a similar project ?
What about bathroom??

Agree
Very dark and colour less, dont like shape of house
fyi they didnt turn on any lights, its actually pretty bright even without lights
Total expenditure of this house
Few crores
Sustainability using too much concrete in climate like ahemdabad ??
My observation, spaces and shape have been forcefully justified here.
Mota kharcha hua hai. 💯
Concrete bhi toh mota hi dala tha na
Number
Its not densely populated area at all as per indian standards
samajh nahi aaya
😅
small family LOL
One of the ugliest houses that I have seen which doesn't even look like a house, but the owner's choice as it is his money
