My husband died 10 weeks ago today, this was one of our favorite songs, We did dance on the shore, We loved on the shore, We sailed past Many shores, We lived & love the sea. I will always love you Roger. It has now been just short of FOUR years. The memories such as this are what has carried me through all the sleepless night and the tear filled days. I wouldn't change a thing. He was the best husband I ever could have had. I love you and will join you some day. Thank you for your love. Roger you are my one and only.
Ten week,s ten days, ten years, the pain and hurt will always be there but your memories will always pull you thru, though hard I know it will always let you go back to that wondeerful time with your Roger, with these soothing songs. God Bless/
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. And what a lovely life you must have had, such beautiful memories. Keep those thoughts with you every day. Your husband would be so enchanted to know that this music reminds you of him.

I loved reading your comment regarding this wonderful memorable song. My mom and dad liked it too. This song calms me down; I never get tired of listening to it.
You and I are the same age, and the minute I heard this familiar music I immediately thought of my late mother too. It must bring back memories of how calming and loving they could be with their little ones.
I also feel this sad and happy with this most beautiful tune. I was born in 64 and this was played at my Mother's funeral. So much emotion in the tune and the way it in was played ❤😢😊
My mom loved this tune she passed in april 2014. I was born in the late 50's an army brat with eight siblings. My son and i danced to this at his wedding. My daughter in law danced with her father. Makes me cry and feel joy at the same time.
I came to the UK from the USA 21 years ago to ultimately marry a gorgeous Englishman, retired from the RAOC, so a veteran. We were madly in love until the day he passed away, 2 1/2 years ago. We were 'Strangers on the Shore,' and this was our song. Today would have been our 21st wedding anniversary. And I'm still loving my new homeland.
This song carries me away from world conflicts, politics, cellphones, & all the other less important distractions in our life ! My all time favorite song. God bless Acker Bilk🙏

Happy ,happy days when the world was at a slower pace ! This brings back memories of mum cooking the Sunday roast , and my dad just hanging loose in 'his' garden ..., tending the flowers he loved so much. And 'Stranger on the shore' was always on the record player. Treasured memories !! Thank you for the music.
Same here. I’m immediately taken back to my childhood home, riding my bike with my friends in the Summer, in my hometown. There were other instrumentals in the 60’s that were as memorable.

When my grandson wanted to join the high school band I bought him a tenor sax and the reason was I wanted to hear him learn and become great on it but alas his band teacher found someone better on a sax and he had to take up trombone.

This was one of my mom's favorite songs. She listened to it so many times when I was young I grew to love it too. Now, I can't help but cry when I hear it. I miss you, Mom.
I used to hum this tune throughout my pregnancy to my twin sons about 20 years ago. Loss 1 twin. We hummed this tune to our son before bed each time. Now and I finally know the title thanks to Google search song. Amazing! Thank you!
poodlesgalore : I don’t think the world is crazy but many people in power are, it is something what goes to their brain producing a kind of metamorphoses of the brain cells. In most cases because the excessive power they have (given by whom is hard to establish) their actions creates a very confused world.
Who else thinks this is one of the greatest bit of music ever played ?and I’m still listening in 2019 absolutely love it . And now it’s 2020 still love it 😊
@@judeharvey1346Cheer up my lovely. Its very hard coping with the loss of parents and siblings. I know how you feel. The broken heart never fully recovers. The track makes me cry too. I never listen to it at Christmas. Too emotional. I listen to Tiger Feet by mud instead. xx 💖
@@terrymurphy66 The track was great fun. Debbie Harry's debut on Top of the Pops singing Dennis was priceless. A lot of catty remarks from the girls in the office next morning about sexy Debbie. Britain has produced some of the best front men in rock bands the world has ever seen and along comes a front girl in a band doing the job as well as the guys in her own magical way. You think women would be pleased wouldn't you. Debbie's eyes lit up as she smiled. She had so much sex appeal in her face and personality overall.
My dad just passed away yesterday. He played the clarinet and was a fan of this great artist. I just had to play this video because we shared musical moments together during his last months in hospice at home. RIP dad.
This song is one of the greatest gifts to the music world and to those who understand and appreciate what good music is all about. I pity the one thousand people who gave this a thumbs down. They don't have a clue and the sad part is that they probably never will.
Thank God we have someone like you out there to tell us all what we have to listen to. I certainly haven't been able to appreciate any music until now - but am now enlightened.
One summer vacation my coal miner Dad took the family on a trip to DC. One evening we boarded a ship that took us to an amusement park via the Potomac River. On the ship was a live band that played like Big Band music. My younger sister and I knew that Stranger on the Shore was Mom's favorite so we went up the a man in the band and asked if they would play it. They did a great job. Mom was surprised and loved it. A memory of a summer evening in the early sixties.
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH...LATELY I'VE BEEN DEPRESSED AND MY ANXIETY IS REALLY ROUGH RIGHT NOW....BUT WHEN I LISTEN TO THIS SONG I START FEELING SO MUCH BETTER...THANK GOD FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC...
This is one of most beautiful pieces of music ever!!! I thank my mother for introducing me to the finer types of music. This makes 2022 a little more bearable.
My dad also played this on the clarinet when I was a kid. The only song I think he knew. Lol. So beautiful. Many memories. We played it at his funeral.
I,m 59 now and scottish ! when i was wee I saved like hell used to collect old newspapers from houses to take to chip shops to try to raise money and this was what i spent it on a 45 viynl record acker bilk for my mum as she loved it
I listen to this every evening before I go to sleep. As it was my dad’s favourite song. We had it played at his funeral. Sadly my dad passed away 5 years ago. Miss you dad. 💙
I’m 60 glad u recognize that, my son is 20 & he only likes rap. I play piano so I know so many pop songs from my mothers era & b4, playing piano is so soothing 4 my soul ❤❤
This was my dads favourite song. My dad passed away 5 years ago. Listening to this transports me back to being a little girl watching him making our fitted wardrobes in our bedroom and this playing on his tape recorder. This was back in 1960. I miss you dad.

I asked him for a 'message' once in my utter grief and he left me one. Try it Linda, your Dad IS out there somewhere listening to you and still loving you.
Lost my Grandma this morning 11/12/20. She lived a great life and was surrounded by family. During these times, covid, hate, troubling minds, everything that is negative in the world we all just need to find that peace in song, a friendly face, loved one, car ride to nowhere, whatever it takes to bring humanity back to a peaceful moment. This song brings me that peace and I hope people out there can find theirs too.
I'm 28 and love this kind of music. The classics are far superior to what is produced today. I don't understand how anyone could dislike this. It's simply gorgeous and timeless.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. There just any music like this today. I am thankful great music like this is preserved for us.
Had this at my mum and my dads funeral, they used to waltz around the lounge to this. Makes me cry everytime, sweet memories. I hope they are waltzing in heaven. 😘
That is hard when your mom dies. I never got to know my dad, he took off in 1950 when I was 15 months old, never saw or heard from him either. My mom was 86 when she died in 2008, that was hard. When I turned 50, I told her it seemed like yesterday I was 20. She said, "Well it does to me too."
This one is beautiful, so peaceful and sweet sounding. Acker Bilk was such a good clarinet player really. And so 57 years after it was released, it is still a good melody to hear and enjoy.
I'm significantly deaf, more in the higher register. Although I love listening to all types of music I never dreamed of learning to play an instrument in my life. I heard this piece about 2months ago, and was so taken by it that I'm looking for a clarinet this week( 2nd hand! Obv😊) Wish me luck❣
I am now 74, but when I was a little kid, my father used to play this on his clarinet. He was very talented, however my parents divorced before I was ten so I never knew much about him. A shame, they met at music school where he studied and my mother played classical piano. All just a fading memory now....
I must say Stranger on the Shore is the greatest music EVER for the clarinet. Plus the string arrangements and recording quality are unsurpassable! As a musician myself been listening to this masterpiece for 60 some years and is spellbinding, especially on 45 rpm record. Mesmerizing every time.
Nicholas, another lifetime musician here. Totally agree with you. This recording is probably one of the best ever. Are you familiar with Mantovani and his orchestra? If not, I highly recommend. Also, ever heard a Wersi Scala played? I love to hear them played by someone really talented, and there are some good recordings on UA-cam.
Going through a bit of a rough patch in my life right now and out of blue this song came to mind, and I don't know why. So I had to listen to it and I closed my eyes as it played, and I was taken back to the first time I'd heard it. It was at a school dance and I was with my first crush, Sandy...it brought back a lot of fond memories.
Brings tears to my eyes of years gone by when our great bands of Acker Bilk & Percy Faith brought real live music to our ears, Not like the rubbish pumped out today!!....What rotten times were living in..Thank You tube for bringing back those great 60s era
You fake assholes cry about the damn "music" when YOU were out causing so much strife and grief to NON WHITE folks. So MISS ME with your crying over you bullshit nostalgia
Hearing this today was a blessing from God. It reminds me so much of my dad. I have sat and listened and cried several times through. My dad could whistle this song and sound just like the clarinet! I grew up attending world war 2 reunions with him and I can't count the times I sat around tables with some of the greatest heroes in history listening to their stories while a live Big Band played this song. It is the soundtrack of a generation that has vanished into the past and when it plays I see them laugh and smile and dance again.
there are negative people whose goal it is to show THUMBS DOWN ON EVERY POST! they love seeing people get upset with them and chew them out. sick people.
I know that feeling...I was not alive when this song came out ( 1962?) but I find myself longing for my Father and Grandmother. Not to worry because someday we will be reunited on that shore. May God Bless You
My daddy die when i was 7... i didn't know him much due to him and mother parting...i only have 3 memories ...his ashes were put in the sea and i fell in love with this song at the age of 8 and when I hear it ..i know he is close . Hello Your comment has bought a tear to my eye, I'm so sorry you lost your father at such a young age. I have a daughter who's 10 and she means the world to me. God bless you Take care
Katie Burgess I don't believe in miracles and such things, but every now and then the universe delivers up something that sure sounds or feels like one. I think a lot of us know how that made you feel! :-)
When I was a lot younger I thought the clarinet was a rather screechy instrument then I heard Acker Bilk play this and it turns out that in his hands it is one of the most beautiful sounds of all, truly one of the greatest talents he is greatly missed.
This song has a beautiful memory for me. I had a raging crush on a boy named Paul. He was a new student and the minute I saw him I was "in love". We were 8th graders so it was puppy love. This song was playing at an 8th grade dance and Paul walked straight to me and asked me to dance. I'm 74 and still cherish that memory. Sometimes one single moment in time can become a moment to remember.
I was overseas [USN] when this song came out. I fell absolutely in love with it cause it epitomized how I felt, ‘a stranger on the shore’. I told my Dad about it [who was an accomplished clarinettist, not as good as Acker though] and unbenounced to me he went out and bought the record and the sheet music to ‘Stranger’. When I came home from overseas, Dad told me to sit down in the living room. He put ‘Stranger’ on the stereo system and came into the living room playing his clarinet along with Acker. Simply beautiful and I cried ! I love that song so much and get tears in my eyes every time I hear it. Reminds me of my Dad who I miss so much ! Thank you Acker (up in heaven) for this beautiful instrumental !
This is indeed a beautiful song. I teared up reading your comment -- what a loving gesture to treasure. May your Dad rest in peace playing his clarinet with Acker Bilk.
Brings me back to easier and much better times, I remember this song when I was around 7 years old and it reminds me of my mom whom I lost two weeks ago...Luv you Mom
When I was growing up my father used to listen to a radio show that had this song as the signature tune at the start. Always loved it. He passed away 3 months ago. He introduced to music and I miss him.
Yes beautiful ,i think the radio show was Sunday favourites i remember listening to it as a kid whilst waiting for my Sunday roast dinner . 62 now wish i could go back to those times ,never appreciated how happy we were back then until now 2020 knocked us for six eh.
The saddest, most beautiful piece of music ever composed on the theme loneliness, on heartbreak--just gorgeous. God rest you, Acker Bilk.--Kevin Whelan
I'm 73 now, but when I was 13 in 1961 this record was released. It permeated my soul. That same year, Wonderland By Night by Bert Kaempfert was released. This was a dreamy time for me just before my Freshman year in high school. I'm grateful to have had that music to usher me into my pre-adult years. I still harken back to those memories.
In the 1960s there were many instrumental songs, and this is by far the best of them all. Thank you, Mr. Acker Bilk for sharing your musical talent with us over your lifetime.
My dear late Mum loved this. So many memories of that lovely lady; ironing, washing, cooking and working as a nurse to keep us all together. Much love Mum, hope you are getting some much deserved rest now xxxxx
In 2020 during covid, my father had the very rare allergic reaction of Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) during an operation. At the time, five chief physicians/surgeons didn’t understand what was was happening. For four weeks he was in intensive care. I was granted to be able to visit him in total of three times. Out of the times, his eyes were open in two scenarios. I played this song for him once while he was “awake”. It was the song I remembered he listened to the most on cassette while driving with me as a child. I never got to asked him what other music/tracks he liked. I’m glad he got to show me this and that I got to played it for him one last time.
Ahh this takes me back....Acker Bilk was from the village where I grew up and a very close friend of my grandfather....a truly humble and dedicated musician right until the end!
Acker was a Somerset lad like myself , much of his music was traditional jazz , good foot stomping music but i first heard " stranger on the shore" when the BBC used it in their serial of the same name I think about a young french lass arriving in England as a nanny I think . Just beautiful music .
In 1960, I came to the United States to live with my aunt when I was 9. She played this song on her phonograph, and I fell in love with it. Now, at 73, I still enjoy this soft and wonderful melody. Thank you, Acker Bilk, rock on in Heaven!
One of those tunes that immediately take you back to better, more youthful times. Times that were happier, yet evoking them brings a certain sadness.....
My granma loves Acker Bilk, she plays the clarinet. When I was a baby I loved this song, had it on a little cassette player and for a period of time I'd listen to it every night. It's such a weirdly sad and happy song. How can it be both? It is though.
***** The Clarinet does have a longing mournful tone, as if reminiscing or wishing for something that has been lost. The lyrics are literally a person standing on the shore pleading "my love return" while watching them sail away. Metaphor for a lover's leaving, breaking up, divorce, death? Probably something along those lines. As for the WWII connection, I don't think so. The song was released in October 1961. A generation after the war, and a time of peace and economic prosperity in the US. Trivia: If you are a fan of "Mad Men" you might notice that this song keeps recurring in the soundtrack. It is associated with the baby that Peggy gave up for adoption early in the series.
Lloyd Cearley You speak of course of the fallacy of intent. That for any work of art, be it poetry, prose, or song, the artist's intent is irrelevant, only the experience of the reader / listener has any meaning. The deconstructionist views any work of art as if it were Schrödinger's cat. It is somehow meaningless until it is "experienced." Thus any meaning can be assigned to anything. I did not miss the OP's point, I disagree with it.
This beautiful music reminds me of when I was very young...my Dad would come home from work...Mom would have a stack of easy listening records on the console stereo...she would be cooking up a storm in the kitchen....Dad would drop his lunchbox...take Mom in his arms and start dancing...the two step....the waltz...the rumba...the quick step..they could do them all...they were married for 65 years...they never forgot what romance meant in a marriage... beautiful moments to remember...this song was one of their favorites...thank you for sharing your music💕❤💕❤💕
My generation has been loosened by the self gratification theme of what the modern version of love defines. I can barely relate but want to relate to the thought of the scene.
I was exploring new genres of music and found this on the list of Billboard magazine's Top Hot 100 songs of 1962. What a divine piece of music history, makes You feel nostalgia for something you never experienced.
Perfectly said. As a millennial that’s how this song has always made me feel but never could find the words. When a song can do that it’s a true masterpiece
This simply was a standout. Fool me, described this piece of music today as being played by an oboe... Next time i will shut my mouth, but I adore it anyways... Cheers
When my wife Carol was alive, we were watching a classical music concert on TV -- back when they used to broadcast those -- and they were playing a clarinet concerto. Carol played the clarinet in her high-school band. She said, "Honey, if I had known that there was serious music for the clarinet, I would have taken it more seriously." Remembering that conversation, I wish that I had had this record available so she could hear what Acker Bilk did with the clarinet. The low-register notes on his clarinet absolutely dissolve me.
+Old Dominion Viking swab Thanks for the kind thoughts. Also thanks for reminding me of Henry Cuesta. I don't watch Lawrence Welk anymore, and I forgot about him. I don't know; maybe the clarinet doesn't have the right sound for pop or rock; indeed the only song I can think of in rock-and-roll's history where the clarinet even made itself known was Acker Bilk's recording. And it will never appear in today's "music," if you can even call that music And yes, Carol and I had the same tastes in music. We were die-hard classical music lovers!
+Old Dominion Viking swab Maybe 25 years ago, I heard the mantra of the modern musician: If you can't play good, at least play loud! That goes for singers also: If you can't sing, then do so loud. And I agree about UA-cam. I just put together a huge collection of my favorite songs from 1942 ( my birth year) through 1970. There are a few songs after 1970 that I like, but not many. But there was a lot of great stuff in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Have a great day.
+skippytroll When Carol and I had that conversation, I had forgotten completely about Acker Bilk's recording. He was almost the perfect example of what could be done with a clarinet. No offense taken; indeed, you made some good points.
I was 5 when this came out and remember it perfectly well with black and white footage of a beach in Britain. it reminds me of my childhood in the UK. I was remembering it today which is why I looked it up. Such a beautiful and unforgettable melody.
This was my dad's favourite song and i played it to my grandson when he was a baby. I get goose pimples every time I hear this song. God bless you dad. Your loving son Desmond
I have loved this song for years. The clarinet is my favorite and this song just dances up and down my spine. I have to listen alone because I cry every time I hear it, it is the sweetest sound. I am so embarrassed.
And hope of better days to come..little did I know those WERE the best days of my life and now I only have memories and classics like this to take me there again..😞❤️🙏

Agreed! Much of today's music is filled with noise and anger. It seems that when we witness true musicians like this (Kenny G) they stand out above the rest.
This was my late grandmother's favorite song. Every time my family and I would go to her house on Sunday for dinner, this song was playing in the TV Room. I miss her so very much. She was a genuine southern lady with beautiful features and one of the best cooks ever. She has been gone over 30 years but she will always remain in my heart.
That's nice to hear that you still think of your grandmother after all this time. My mother died when I was 12 years old, and I can to this very day remember her loving a song by Jim Reeves a song called Welcome To My World, that was her favourite and every time I hear the song I can picture her laying on the sofa listening to it. I am 51 years old now and not a day goes by that I do not think of her. Some people easily forget. Respect
I was a child when this music was being played. I revisit it by listening to Forever Fifties on the Got Radio section of the Oldies Radio App. Sometimes, they slip and play music from the early 60s, but they're pretty good so far. It's a good way to hear a lot of music you might never hear otherwise. A couple of more instrumentals that are as peaceful are: Canadian Sunsets by Hugo Winterhalter, Moonglow / Theme From Picnic By Morris Stoloff and Lisbon Antigua by Nelson Riddle. A good haunting cowboy song from then was Cattle Call by Eddy Arnold. Dream on!
What a beautiful instrumental....one of the greatest of all time. You're a legend Acker. Great memories from the golden decades of the 50s and 60s when music climbed Mt Everest...sadly a downhill slide since.

I used to hum this tune throughout my pregnancy to my twin sons about 20 years ago. Loss 1 twin. We hummed this tune to our son before bed each time. Now and I finally know the title thanks to Google search song. Amazing! Thank you!
So sorry for your loss.

It's a beautiful track with a beautiful title. So romantic, it brings tears to my eyes. They don't make them like that any more. A one off.💖
My parents played this when I was young. It takes me back, but I cry. I miss them so.

Thank God I found this. Thank you for guiding me, Lola (Grandma). We couldn't celebrate your life without this song. R.I.P. We love you.
When I was 3, this was the music being played. The world needs more music like this to take us back to a time when things were more human!
💯 percent agree!!!
Same here & totally agree with you
But were things really more human? I wonder...
@@ineztbyes, definitely. Doesn't this music make you feel peaceful and calm? Compare this to Hip Hop and Rap...which is more human.

My dad just passed away yesterday. He played the clarinet and was a fan of this great artist. I just had to play this video because we shared musical moments together during his last months in hospice at home. RIP dad.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
@tonyintheie that must av been a joy to listen too
This song is one of the greatest gifts to the music world and to those who understand and appreciate what good music is all about. I pity the one thousand people who gave this a thumbs down. They don't have a clue and the sad part is that they probably never will.
Well said agree they don't know good music
Music is subjective and always will be
I adore this music!!! I studied music!there r many nerds ....too bad, if they dont hear it,sad sad world!!!

@@donhames5492 Did I say that you have to listen to this? Absolutely not! You are most certainly entitled to your opinion as am I.

This song was always on the radio when I was a kid in the 60,s. Life was happy then even though we had nothing.

Sounds like you still had plenty of what mattered the most.

My dear mum just passed away in Australia. She had this played at her funeral!
So sorry for your loss my mum died quite a few years ago same as my dad.
I am going to have it played at mine too
That is hard when your mom dies. I never got to know my dad, he took off in 1950 when I was 15 months old, never saw or heard from him either. My mom was 86 when she died in 2008, that was hard.
When I turned 50, I told her it seemed like yesterday I was 20. She said, "Well it does to me too."
💔
That is my plan as well. I think this is the tune I’ll hear when I enter heaven
This one is beautiful, so peaceful and sweet sounding. Acker Bilk was such a good clarinet player really. And so 57 years after it was released, it is still a good melody to hear and enjoy.

I agree with you.
Nicholas, another lifetime musician here. Totally agree with you. This recording is probably one of the best ever. Are you familiar with Mantovani and his orchestra? If not, I highly recommend.
Hold on my friend. You'll get there 👍🏻

Played this wonderful song at my dad's funeral on october 2013 as his coffin left the Church, great memories,
This song has a beautiful memory for me.

How lovely beth
Acker was a Somerset lad like myself , much of his music was traditional jazz , good foot stomping music but i first heard " stranger on the shore" when the BBC used it in their serial of the same name I think about a young french lass arriving in England as a nanny I think . Just beautiful music .
Such beautiful music x

Indeed. Things are sometimes created with enigma by special people.

Mylitla Sorry, but you missed his point.

My generation has been loosened by the self gratification theme of what the modern version of love defines. I can barely relate but want to relate to the thought of the scene.

+Bill Chambers my hart is with you. have some one with you
+Rob Rice Thank you for your kind thought.
One great arrangement of a timeless classic.
You can tell Acker wrote this song...from the heart.
I was 5 when this came out and remember it perfectly well with black and white footage of a beach in Britain. it reminds me of my childhood in the UK. I was remembering it today which is why I looked it up. Such a beautiful and unforgettable melody.
It was the theme to a television show about a french oupair (incorrect spelling) in England

Absolutely correct. I was just thinking the same thing as I hear this song (about summer place).

back when god was in his heaven and all was right with the world. the days of home made ice cream and be in the house when the street light comes on. it was a good time to grow up and i had good parents. all was right with the world.
It certainly was a time of peace with God in heaven and joy in our hearts and life so simple
Mary and Jennifer; HE is still up there but most of us do not want to heed what HE says. If we only stopped hating and fighting and tried to understand and respect each other, tolerating our differences, the World would be more peaceful.
LOVE WAS REAL OMN A BEACH ...
Jorge Mario Rodas depends on what you mean by tolerating. Today it means something entirely different from what I would envision heaven to be.
@@jujubegold I mean one should accept people for what they are unless they are criminals or bad people. There are many who think their way of been is the only correct one and consider all others inferior. We shold not judge others as Christ is the only judge and shall judge us all. Regards.
My dad used to play this all the time on what is now a huge tape recorder. Hearing it transports me back to the early sixties sitting beside him listening to this together. My dad passed away 3 years ago. I miss you dad x
My dad passed away 7 yrs ago this was played at his wake miss you dad x
I’m 53 years old,and your comment made me burst into tears, lost my dad in 2015
A truly beautiful tune by Aka Bilk, I do at time fell transported back in time to beautiful memories. So soothing, relaxing and yes hypnotic.
I had the pleasure of seeing this awesome artist live... I have no words to explain the whole atmosphere.. children. Dogs. Teenagers... all just sat and listened.. a beautiful memory.
Music like this always hits a emotional nerve. Brings back memories of growing up with both my parents by my side. Yes, music like this will be missed by the 'now' generation...sad!
My father introduced me to this great music so grateful. Cheers Dad made my childhood memories even more beautiful
It will never die
from the days when an instrument was an extension to a musicians voice, it has heart and feeling and soul, so little music now has any of those things
Neil Power Carson city country club
Agreed! Much of today's music is filled with noise and anger. It seems that when we witness true musicians like this (Kenny G) they stand out above the rest.
There's lots of great stuff out there. You're not looking hard enough.
Where would you suggest we look?
Russell Dobbins, the point is we shouldn't have too look so hard. The majority of music should be this good.
The clarinet takes me back fifty years and to beautiful memories..
This tune takes me back . One of my all time greats...full of emotion
Respect
I'm still a teenager right now and I love this. It's a shame that the music industry has downgraded so far
What a beautiful song!! Love that clarinet solo!!

Enjoy the old and be open to the best of the new !
Wonder if there are any clarinet artists left in the world of music ?
Glad you got to hear stuff like this....Buy all the oldies on cds while they are still available...say 1955 to 1969
I was a child when this music was being played. Dream on!
My wife and I danced to this as our song at our wedding. I don't think a more beautiful song has ever been written.
What a beautiful instrumental....one of the greatest of all time. You're a legend Acker. Great memories from the golden decades of the 50s and 60s when music climbed Mt Everest...sadly a downhill slide since.
1961....A cold November, and on The Alan Freeman Sunday night record show, this was number 1. It made the gloomy winter nights much brighter.....
Wase'nt it No one for a year?
pick of the pops..the chart rundown show..it was a bbc tv theme...remember it well.....
It Was In The CharTs For A Year.......
it didnt reach number one on the us charts until may of 62
Released in the U.K. November 1961.
Released in the USA in February 1962
This was my mom and dad's wedding song when they got married in '69. Mom passed away 10 years ago, but this song brings me some calm when I need it and I can't call my dad and stepmom because it's late.
God bless you my dear ,,
