Most of us grew up singing along to these songs in our bedrooms - Rollins gets to live the dream and sings along with the actual band on stage - it's the stuff of dreams, something money can't buy.
I bought these songs on 45 in Detroit in the '70's. I still like The Ruts. I'm as old as they are. It was great of young Henry to help out on this one. He did a good job.
i love how alive henrys eyes are in this vid, how the rest of the ruts are all looking at each other like fuck yeah were 22 again and kicking peoples asses, how they never miss a single note, but most of all i love pauls, WHAT CAN I SAY!
Mango god and alonca, welcome my friends! The ruts were a damn fine bunch of decent fellas who played great punk rock music, hope you stick around a while to get the feel of what they were about! X
this is goddamn heavy, The Ruts absolutely have no peers, I can't think of a single band that sounds like them and their intensity is only rivaled by death/black metal of 12 something years afterwards. The entire situation on display is as heavy as the music itself, The Ruts went down like true warriors!
DecayRitual I kinda agree although there was Killing Joke who influenced countless Heavy Rock/Death Metal bands, also the Stranglers of the same period.
No, this was planned. He was requested to cover for the old singer who passed away in the 80's. Where he came on stage unexpectedly was another gig, not sure if it was intended as a surprice or he got randomly called to the stage.
If you look again you see that's it's a plastic cup, They serve beer in those, and when people finished their beer it happens that they throw 'em on the band. At some shows you can see a rain of them (even half full) when the band starts to play and people rather dance then stand with a beer in their hand looking dumb...
hmm funny, most everyone else seems quite content with his performance. I kind of have to wonder where all this anger and hatred is coming from, he after all was asked to front the event and the ruts where content with his performance. So maybe instead of critisizing you should just accept that your tastes are a bit different from most of hte people who loved this performance and just let them have their moment without dealing with negative comments like that.
Yep Henry did it proud 👏
So glad Henry did this show. I dont think they could have chosen anyone who would have given it as much as Henry did.
Was never a fan of Rollins music but have nothing but respect for him for making this happen and giving it a good crack.

I'm surprised he didn't try this sort of punk during his own career. It suits him very well.
Still blow me away! What a band!
Oh yes, fucking brilliant, first time I heard The best cover of Babraham is burning. ✊🏻🎶🎙
Henry killed it.
He did! 😎
He really didn't
This is a fucking brilliant performance.
Geezuz.
Rollins was a great front man that night. Malcolm would of been watching somewhere and smiling :) R.I.P Malccy and Foxy xxx

Think HR did a good job. Hes not a great singer but he´s a fan of the music. Gotta love it.

Awesome!!!!!!!!
Reminds me of a hybrid of Subhumans with East Coast Hardcore, and with Rollins on the Mic. Not bad
What I would have given to be there for that show

0:18 Douche throws water bottle. Henry not even phased. THAT'S how it's done.
He really should re form Black Flag, he's still got it
Great footage. It's too bad the DVD wasn't around long.
@verydirtyflow yes, it's a dvd. I had a entire footage, but I can't find it now. If will, gonna upload it too :)

What the hell I just felt ? was it an eargasm ? I FUCKING THINK SO !!!!!!!
that's a brave person throwing something at Henry Rollins
Nice one
@mickdel yeA, i think the gig he got called up for was nick caves band...him & jello biafra
But he's that hard that he just turns his head and the bottle flees in terror. The attack backfired, obviously.
Though hit with a water bottle he doesn't yield an inch of stage. Just spurs him on.
yeah right...his arms are massive.
looked fine

You must be new to the punk scene...
HR Better with Black Flag
rollins look like hes about to take somebodys head off
Henry Rollins trying to take the limelight from a real punk band yet again...
+DPunk And you got that outcome from one video without knowing the backstory...
What a lovely enlightened person you are.
